The sad fact: Positioning is the silent killer of most B2B ROAS 🥺... Most marketers obsess over targeting, bidding, and creative tweaks. But if your positioning is off, every click is wasted. Positioning is not your tagline. It’s the space you own in your prospect’s mind. Alfred Ries called it “owning a word.” In B2B, that word could be "reliability", "speed", "compliance", "predictability"... Example: If you sell SaaS for procurement, do you position as “cost-saving software” or “risk eliminator”? The second one might speak to CFO pain points and wins higher-value deals. Better positioning means your offer feels more relevant for prospects. That relevance drives higher CTR, lower CPC, and ultimately MUCH better ROAS. 💡 Before you launch your next campaign, ask: What single idea do we want to dominate in the buyer’s mind? If you can’t answer, your ads are fighting blind. 🚀 ROAS starts with perception. Fix your positioning, and the numbers will very likely follow. #marketing #b2bmarketing #marketingstrategies #positioning #growthmarketing #digitalmarketing #gtmstrategies #demandgeneration #demandgen

My first two companies failed — because of my own poor decisions. Ten years ago we built a platform connecting brands with creators. Almost nobody else was building this. That market is worth $30B today. We were four years early — and early doesn't feel like early. --> It feels like being wrong. --> Companies weren't interested in creator collaborations yet. LinkedIn and Meta gave advertisers no creator insights to share with companies and no official way to promote creator content. The infrastructure wasn't there. Back then, I never thought "we're far ahead of the market." --> After years of struggle, I thought the idea was just bad. My second company, HeyTimi: the opposite in every way. We raised millions from well-known investors immediately. The market was crowded, and I read that as validation — a real market with real players. Let's go. Then our main competitor GoStudent raised €70M. We had raised €2M. Ten weeks later, they raised €205M. Seven months after that, €300M. (Respect to Felix Ohswald and the GoStudent team — they read it right.) And here's the part that still gets me: The market was shrinking the whole time, while we all raised millions and told our investors how big things would be in a few years — believing the story ourselves. Startups holding over a billion in combined funding, fighting over a market that was contracting and unprofitable for nearly everyone. That's when I finally understood momentum. You can have brilliant people — and mine were sharper than I am — and still lose, because momentum isn't something your team produces. It's the direction the market is already moving. You either arrive in time to be carried, or you spend everything swimming. So before you commit years to a company, as a founder or a hire, get as clear as possible on its momentum. It's cheaper to check than you'd think: → Google Trends on the core category, five-year view → CPCs on high-intent keywords — rising cost with flat volume means a market being fought over, not growing → Competitor funding rounds over the last three years — direction matters more than size None of this is difficult. I just didn't do it. Well — I did. I just thought I was the greatest and would beat every warning sign with pure effort, haha. ...classic 25-year-old Ben. What I'm proud of: through all of it, my relationship with every colleague and co-founder stayed strong. Integrity and respect stayed high. I couldn't be more thankful. My recommendation: do the momentum check with as many hard facts as possible — it pays off many times. Today I even check the momentum of every lead we receive — I want my team spending their time on realistic growth stories instead of swimming. Thanks to everyone for the journey at Fourdrop: Maximilian Kostial, Peter Wunderlich, Richard Keiner, Axel Forstenhäusler and HeyTimi: Romina Kretschmer, David Kanis, Philipp Rößner, Martin Schneid, Yannick Kuplewatzki, Jessica Nicoloiu, Melanie Strobl

Ascending to the C-Suite has different sets of requirements than any other leadership position in a company. I specifically focus on what those are in the class I teach for Pavilion's GTM Accelerator course, but all of classes in the 8 week program, will help you understand all of the fundamentals to getting there. AI agents spent 23 hours probing major companies. Nobody on the receiving end noticed. That’s the story leading this week’s AgentShock. Microsoft’s new answer is to give agents a live risk score and take away write access when they start acting strangely. I’d like to know who sets that threshold. Also in this issue: Anthropic signs for 420 MW of wind-backed capacity, and an 18-month data center pause in Memphis dies on a 6–6 vote. Data residency is one of the first questions in every European migration. Customers want to know which country their discovery data is held in, and for many French customers the answer needs to be France 🌍 I'm pleased to announce that CloudHound now runs in Europe (Paris), our third European region alongside London and Frankfurt, and our seventeenth worldwide. Paris runs its own copy of the platform and its own database, so a French customer's discovery and assessment data is held in France. Partners can now pick the right home for each customer: - Europe (London) for UK estates - Europe (Frankfurt) for German and central European estates - Europe (Paris) for French estates Migration works the same way: replicas are written straight into the customer's own cloud account, in whichever region they choose, and our servers never carry the disks. The platform is also fully translated into French, so the customer's operations team can run every project in their own language. For public sector, health and financial estates in Europe, that keeps data in-country from the first discovery scan through to a complete migration, using the platform with the best operating system compatibility, the fastest migrations, and the shortest cutover times available for AWS. Three regions across Europe, for migration assessment, planning, and execution 💫 cloudhound.io

I just pulled every long-tenured OpenAI engineer (name, title, start date and LinkedIn). This is where the startup mafias come from. Two reasons why: 1) I imagine that most of these engineers will leave soon to go back to 0 to 1 building 2) They are likely fully vested so they do not have to stay at OpenAI to receive their huge payouts I got the below list using Harmonic’s research tool. I then put this into an active list so that I could get more enriched data on each person that updates automatically (it updates once a week with new details from Linkedin). Fix or fuel? Most CEOs answer this by temperament. That is the expensive way. The founder who is naturally cautious cuts costs when the real problem is a growth engine that was never built. The founder who is naturally aggressive pours money into marketing when the real problem is a business that leaks profit faster than it earns it. Both are working hard. Both are solving the wrong problem first. There are only two moves. Fix what is holding the business back, and fuel what comes next. Red fuels blue. Never the other way around. On November 9 I am going live with Mike Michalowicz, author of Profit First, to run a diagnostic on exactly this. He takes 'Fix'. I take 'Fuel'. You leave knowing which one is yours. Fraud control is a month-long responsibility for finance teams. A duplicate invoice, an unexpected change to supplier bank details or an expense that does not look right can appear at any time. If those checks only happen at month-end, finance may be left piecing together what happened after the fact. The better approach is to build review into everyday finance workflows, so unusual activity gets attention when it appears. No one can answer "how do we reach Gen Z?", including us. It's one of the most common questions we get, and it's the reason research comes back useless. Ask about gold bars, though, and we'll answer "Costco". (I'll come back to this). Ask "how do we reach Gen Z" out loud and someone will answer it. An agency will. A trend report will. You'll get forty slides on Gen Z that are true of Gen Z in every country and every category, and true of nothing in your business. The question gets answered. Nothing gets decided. I call these macro questions. There's no single study, single report or single data point that answers one. You only get there by answering four micro questions underneath it, and the order matters, because each answer is what makes the next one askable. Start with who Gen Z actually is to your business, because it's never all of them. Then which of those people you already reach, and which ones you don't. That gap is your real target. Only then can you ask what they consume, you need to know what they already watch before you make something that gets watched. And last, who has influence over them. Could be another brand, could be a creator, could be their friends, could be a nobody. That last question is where most teams stop short, because the honest answer usually sits outside their own category. Which brings me back to the gold bars. We've been looking into it for a business that sells them. The people making content about it? Credit card point hackers. They run $20,000 through a rewards card at Costco, sell the bars back, pocket the points. Costco can't keep gold on the shelves. Nobody in precious metals would have looked there. But that's who has influence. So no, I can't tell you how to reach Gen Z. Nobody can, not in one answer. Work the four questions underneath it and the answer builds itself. Skip them and you'll get a deck that's right about Gen Z and completely useless to you.
- Text-onlyEvery AI vendor is selling a software factory now. Read the proposal closely and most of them come with a team of engineers attached. They're called forward deployed engineers or FDE. It's the Palantir model, and it's spreading fast. Cursor is growing its FDE team tenfold. Consultancies are staffing hundreds of them. I understand why. Getting agents from a few developers in an IDE to an entire engineering org is hard. Someone has to wire tickets, repos, CI, permissions and approvals together, and that someone ends up being the vendor's engineers, sitting inside your org. But look at what you're actually buying. A project. Months of embedded engineers. A budget that reads like a services contract. A factory built by people who will eventually leave. And when they leave, who owns it? Who changes a workflow when your process changes, or when the next model ships next month? A factory that only works while the vendor's engineers are in the building is a services engagement with a product logo on it. I think enterprises should expect a product. Something your own platform team can stand up, with governance, audit trail, approval gates and deployment options already built in, and workflows owned by the people who use them. That's how we built Overcut. We're the only enterprise software factory that ships with zero FDEs. Our customers run it end to end themselves. The most dangerous dashboard in marketing is the one where everything's green. All it means is you're measuring the things you already knew to look at. By the time it shows up in your numbers, the shift has already been underway for months. And the dashboard stayed green the whole way. Your dashboard shows you what's happening inside your ecosystem. It has nothing to say about what's happening outside it. And those are two very different reads on reality. It won't show you the competitor that entered your category six months ago and is winning your next generation of customers. It won't show you the platform where your audience moved their trust conversations. It won't show you the content format pulling your category forward while you're still optimizing last year's playbook. A few things I'd add to your next quarterly review: 1. Search your category on Reddit and YouTube without your brand name. Screenshot the top results. Note what's moving in your market that your internal data would never surface. 2. Look at the top three pieces of organic content getting traction in your category right now that you didn't create. Screenshot them. Who made them? What are they saying? What format are they using? 3. Check if any new competitors, creators, or communities have gained meaningful traction in the last 90 days that have never come up in an internal meeting. Screenshot anything you find. 4. Drop all those screenshots into the AI tool of your choice and ask: "My internal dashboards show healthy metrics. Here is what's getting organic traction in my category right now outside my own brand. What market shifts, emerging competitors, or audience behavior changes should I be paying attention to that my internal data would never flag?" 5. Write down the one thing moving in your market right now that your dashboard would never surface, then put it in front of your team where it's impossible to ignore. This takes about 15 minutes. And it will tell you more about where your market is going than any dashboard ever could.

Carbon reduction alone is no longer enough to win capital. Almost every successfully funded reduction project clears the same three tests: Financial defensibility, Operational feasibility and Carbon abatement. In that order and in a consistent language for each stakeholder. Successful sustainability teams are no longer submitting carbon cases to finance and instead building ROI positive capital requests that finance recognizes and supports. That is where the real work of decarbonization happens. Watch the full conversation with Trellis and James Hardie. Link in comments.

🎯 Geef me 30 minuten. In 30 minuten pakken we jouw vacatures erbij. 👋

Yesterday, a major HR and payroll platform went offline while responding to PHP2Shell. We were affected too. Its security rating that same day? A. 903 out of 950. And I don't think the rating was wrong. It measured what it was built to measure: the vendor's externally visible security posture. But we've gotten used to treating a vendor's security score as a measure of how much risk that vendor poses to us. Those aren't the same thing. The vendor going offline doesn't mean it has bad security. Taking systems down may have been exactly the right security decision. But if your payroll depends on that vendor, the impact on your business is real regardless of how good its security is. We spend so much time evaluating how secure our vendors are, and far less understanding what happens to us when something goes wrong. That's what we're building at Lema. We connect what's happening at the vendor to the data, access, and business operations that depend on it, so security teams can see where they're actually exposed and what they can do about it. “Daar staan we!!"

Waarom moet Peter eigenlijk leren prompten? I spent hours looking for the best lead generation tools of 2026. I found 10 ↓ 72% of B2B companies already use at least one lead gen tool. The hard part is picking the right one. The short version: 1. Icypeas: email finder + verifier, 575M people, refreshed every month 2. ZoomInfo: enterprise data and intent signals 3. Apollo: all-in-one prospecting and sequences for SMBs 4. Cognism: the go-to if you sell into Europe 5. Clearbit: enrichment if you live in HubSpot 6. Lusha: fast Chrome extension for reps 7. Seamless.AI: volume prospecting and mobile numbers 8. UpLead: verification at the moment you reveal a contact 9. LeadIQ: one click from LinkedIn to your CRM 10. Snov.io: cheap all-in-one for early-stage teams The rule we use: If your problem is workflow, buy workflow software. If your problem is data quality, buy a data partner. Pick wrong and you'll see it fast: bounces, duplicates, and reps wasting time on contacts that should never have entered the CRM.
