In all my years running brands from the inside, I have never seen brand leaders carry this much at once. They are asked to make the brand cheaper to run with AI, and they answer for whatever AI says about it. They are expected to sound sure for a team that isn't. And there are two ways to fail: fall behind, or sign off on the wrong thing. Underneath it all sits a question: if agents do more of the work, what exactly am I here to decide? More than it seems. For thirty years we have been the operators of the machine — hand-holding the digital surfaces to unlock their capability. Now the machine understands our intent, and it operates for us. Your customers' agents are starting to compare, shortlist and choose for them. The tools behind that will change every quarter. What must remain true about your brand when an agent acts in its name should not. You will work that out with IT, legal and your agencies, but you can't hand it over: accountability does not delegate to a machine. And if nobody decides, silence does not produce absence. It produces improvisation. Many brand leaders have asked me for time to think this through together. So Flavia Barbat of Brandingmag and I are starting with a paid briefing, small on purpose so everyone in it takes part. 🖥️ Agentic Branding: A Live Briefing 🗓️ Thursday 12 November, 14:00–16:00 CET, live online For CMOs, CBOs and leaders of brand and communications; agency and consultancy leaders welcome. 20 seats, $875 each, by request until Tuesday 10 November. You leave with your own answer, a short list of what to act on now and what can wait, and a discovery guide your team runs without you. What if the reason LLMs go searching on third-party platforms for more about your brand is that your brand isn't giving them enough information? I often pose this question to brand leaders when discussing agentic branding—not because external validation isn't important, but because too much focus on it causes decision-makers to fall prey to the latest tools and miss the long-term opportunities. AI agents are shifting from merely surfacing and recommending your brand to personifying it, speaking for it, and ultimately, rendering it in real time on surfaces we can't even imagine. That means a brand leader's job isn't only to decide how their teams will use AI tools; it's also to make sure AI tools can use their brands. And that starts with what you can control. Look at your brand's own editorial properties, for example: → Your publications and insights hubs → Articles by your company's own experts → Reports and research you publish → Podcasts and video series you've transcribed → Educational, experience-driven case studies All of these contribute to your brand's knowledge graph, the part of the agent-mediated equation you can directly control. That includes the additional expertise—conference talks, sales conversations, internal training, engineering notes—you have yet to package and surface somewhere an agent can find. I'm not talking solely about accurate product and service information; I'm talking about how your brand's unique value and meaning are codified into an editorial standard that LLMs (be they internal or external) can leverage when communicating on behalf of your brand. Nothing will give you more clarity on where you stand than reading your own published expertise side by side, the way an agent would. You'll see where your brand contradicts itself, where it goes quiet on a strategic topic, and where it could be more specific about your experts' approach. Only then can you begin to revise your brand's digital footprint and use those revisions to architect an editorial standard for everything your brand writes moving forward. This digital revolution finally feels like one that forces us to look inward, clean house, and let the best version of our brands emerge. To help brand leaders take quick yet sustainable action, Thomas Marzano and I have condensed what we've studied, discussed, and applied with our respective clients into a two-hour executive briefing for senior marketing, brand, and communications leaders. Live online on Thursday, November 12, 8:00–10:00 a.m. EST (2:00–4:00 p.m. CET, 5:00–7:00 p.m. Dubai time). There are only 20 seats, priced at $875 each, and requests close Tuesday, November 10. You'll leave knowing what to act on now, what can safely wait, and how your team can continue the discovery independently. 🚗

Part of my job is deciding where FOS bets next. New IP. New shows. New products. New events. New ways to reach you and give you the access you need. I’d rather not guess. The best input comes from the people who actually use what we make: → Reading the Memo before work → Experiencing an FOS Live event → Listening to the FOS Today pod on your morning commute → Watching FOS Tonight → Dropping our stories in the group chat (we see you) → Scrolling and sharing content from the FOS App So we’re asking. Our audience survey takes a few minutes. Tell us who you are, how you follow FOS, and what you want more of. We read every answer, and it goes straight into our 2027 plans. Take it here: https://lnkd.in/ehk3ndGy Huge thanks to everyone who’s already filled it out. Keep ’em coming.

Front Office Sports was built on a simple idea that sports fans also want to understand the business and culture behind the game. That community is now bigger than I ever imagined and full of people who are genuinely curious, sharp about where the world is going, and (lucky for us) not shy about telling us what they think. So as we look at what’s next for FOS, we want to go straight to the source. If you read, watch, or listen to FOS, take a few minutes to tell us who you are and what you want more of. It genuinely shapes what we build next. https://lnkd.in/eSjtHUdZ

Insurers observing the violent demonstrations across France over the weekend may be thinking back to riots in the wake of the fatal police shooting of Nahel Merzouk in 2023 - an event that cost carriers around $800mn. But while the riots this time around are more widespread, with more businesses damaged and looted, insurers had already put in place changes that will mitigate their losses from the weekends unrest. Our sources estimate that the loss will be at least EUR1bn - but had insurers not taken steps such as imposing tighter sublimits on SRCC coverage after 2023, the loss could have been much worse. At the same time, there is an expectation that reinsurers will take a smaller proportion of this SRCC loss than they did in 2023, thanks to their own tightening of terms. Subscribers can read the full detail, including the likely impact on domestic and London D&F markets, in the link in the comments.

Your R&D team doesn’t have to build everything. Before adding another project to their roadmap, I’d ask: could we develop this with someone who has already solved part of the problem? Some capabilities are worth keeping in-house. But your engineers’ time is limited. It’s worth being deliberate about where you use it. And a partnership can work both ways. A startup might have the technology you need. Your company might have the application, testing environment or manufacturing experience they’re missing. The TBC / Angel Invest report makes this point from the startup side: industrial partners can bring demand, access to supply chains and manufacturing know-how.* My takeaway for business leaders? Don’t just ask what a technology company can sell you. Ask what you could achieve together - and what each side would need to contribute. That’s a conversation I’d like you to have at Deep Tech Summit. Sit down with founders and researchers. Explain what you’re working on. Ask where their technology could fit, what still needs testing and how a collaboration would work. Including the less glamorous questions: who owns the IP, who handles integration and who supports the solution once it’s running? Those answers matter more than a polished pitch. If you’re looking for a technology partner for your next product or process, book your ticket and join us on 26–27 October 2026 at Norblin Factory, Warsaw. https://deeptechsummit.eu/ Photo: Deep Tech CEE Summit 2025. * Jonathan Karl and Jens Lapinski, Technology Briefing Center / Angel Invest, How to Cross the Valley of Death in Deep Tech (July 2025), https://lnkd.in/d-y_gcZD

There's no shortage of AI out there. What matters is whether it actually helps you make a better business decision. That's what we have built with Iggy, our new Gen AI-powered intelligence platform inside Ignition, and one of our key announcements at Open House '27 across Sydney and Melbourne. Iggy brings together custom-built AI agents and Australia's largest automotive data set to help marketers get from "what's going on?" to "what should I do next, and how?" Why I love this job People often think my job is about organizing an event. It's not. What I really love is creating opportunities for businesses to grow. Every year, I see brands arrive with ambitious goals: finding new customers, entering new markets, strengthening partnerships, launching products, or simply increasing their visibility in a highly competitive industry. And then I watch those goals turn into conversations, connections, and business opportunities. That's what makes this work so meaningful. Because behind every booth is a team that has invested months, sometimes years, into developing products, building a brand, and growing a business. Helping put those businesses in front of the right buyers, decision-makers, distributors, retailers, and industry professionals is what motivates me every day. When exhibitors tell us they met their next partner, secured new leads, or opened doors to new markets, that's when I know we're doing something meaningful. Creating those opportunities is why I love what I do. Curious what exhibiting at IWA could mean for your business? Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e2RVkG_9

The revised Tri-Agency Open Access Policy is an important step towards making Canadian research accessible. At Canadian Science Publishing we have long supported the immediate sharing of accepted manuscripts, and we welcome this new direction. But what does it take to make research openly accessible? And how do we sustain the work and infrastructure behind it? In our latest blog post, we explore the costs of producing an author’s accepted manuscript, from peer review coordination and research integrity checks to the people, systems, and infrastructure that supports trusted scholarly publishing. The question isn’t whether research should be open, but how we collectively sustain the infrastructure that makes trusted research possible. As the policy takes effect, we are keen to work with the Tri-Agencies, government, libraries and universities to reach the same goals. Read the post: https://lnkd.in/g46rPjcV
