Is a 50% application submission rate a good result? For a full-time MBA, it's well above average. For an Executive Master's, it's well below. Without a benchmark, how would you know? After more than 17 years working with higher education institutions, I've seen how difficult it can be to answer a seemingly simple question: How well are we actually converting prospective students? That's why I'm particularly proud to share Full Fabric 2025–2026 Admissions Conversion Benchmark Study, built with data from 19 Financial times ranked business schools across 9 European countries and more than 100 programmes. A few findings that stood out to me: → There's no such thing as a typical admissions funnel. Certificates and diplomas convert 67% of prospects into applicants, compared with just 11% for online MBAs. → Some programmes need a much wider funnel than others. For every student enrolled, full-time MBAs need around 94 prospects and 14 started applications. Part-time and Executive MBAs need fewer than 4 started applications per enrolled student. → Application fees involve a trade-off. Programmes charging an application fee see around 10 percentage points fewer completed applications, but 13 percentage points more admitted candidates enrolling, compared with their programme-type averages. → Not all applications have the same financial value. Executive MBAs generate approximately €21,900 in cohort tuition value per started application, compared with €3,400 for full-time MBAs. A huge thank you to the 19 institutions that contributed their data and made this research possible. How does your institution compare? 📊 Download the full Admissions Conversion Benchmark Study to benchmark your programmes, identify where prospective students drop out, and uncover opportunities to improve conversion. https://lnkd.in/e3an6kjT #HigherEducation #Admissions #EnrolmentManagement #BusinessSchools

94% completion. Zero behavior change. That's not a training win. That's a blind spot. A client showed me their L&D dashboard last month. 94% completion rate, 4.6 out of 5 satisfaction. By every metric on that slide, the training had worked. Three months later, the actual behavior on the floor hadn't moved at all. To be honest, this isn't rare, it's the norm. Decades of research keep landing on the same number: only 10-20% of what's taught in formal training actually transfers into on-the-job behavior. Manager-required compliance training routinely hits 90%+ completion and still produces no real change, because completion measures whether someone clicked through a module, not whether they do anything differently under pressure. Leadership knows this, sort of, and still optimizes for the wrong signal. A 2026 Gartner survey of security leaders found 84% of organizations prioritize training completion as their top metric, while only 6% track the thing that actually predicts risk: how often people bypass the training the moment it's inconvenient. We keep grading the easy test and then act surprised when the real-world score doesn't match. The thing is, completion rate was never a business outcome. It's a proxy that's easy to drop into a slide. Behavior change, time-to-competency, fewer repeat errors, fewer workarounds under deadline pressure - that's the real test, and it's harder to measure, so most companies quietly stop looking. If your training dashboard leads with completion, you're not measuring whether the training worked. You're measuring whether the LMS can export a report. What do you think - does your org measure behavior or just attendance? #LearningAndDevelopment #FrontlineWorkforce #TrainingROI

The Swedish school debate has been focused on who runs schools for too long. But the data reveals a different reality: the priority must be a consistent focus on educational quality. A new 10-year review (2016–2025) by Valfrihetskommissionen reveals a clear national pattern. Out of the 87 schools that have remained in the top quartile for an entire decade, 65 are independent schools. I am incredibly proud that seven Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) schools — Täby, Nacka, Bromma, Järfälla, Lund, Sundsvall and Uppsala — are in this elite tier. Why does this matter? At these schools, an average of over 90% of students graduate with passing grades in every subject. This isn't a "good year" — it is a decade of: ▪️ High Expectations: Challenging every student to reach their potential. ▪️Tough Love: A safe, orderly environment where teachers can teach. ▪️Knowledge First: A relentless focus on academic outcomes over political trends. The real question for Sweden isn’t about school ownership — it’s about quality. Can Sweden take the "best practices" from these top-performing schools and apply them to schools that have underperformed for too long? At IES, we believe every child deserves a school that works. Not just this year, but every year. #Education #Leadership #IES #SchoolResults #FutureOfSweden #QualityEducation

-----------------

Treating AI rollout as a regular tool deployment is a category error. In their new Skills Intelligence Report, Docebo found that: ➡️ for almost 30% of their respondents, AI tooling budgets grew faster than AI enablement. ➡️ 7% said the enablement budget was cut to fund AI tooling. ➡️ 47% said their headcount budget was redirected to other priorities, AI tools among them. Read that again (I needed to a few times). I know AI likes to use the phrase *stopped me in my tracks*, but I’m writing this myself, and this phrase does apply here 🙃 All the promised AI riches assume business transformation, but the way organisations fund and approach enablement often treats it as a straightforward technology rollout. It’s not. More sophisticated uses of AI often mean people have to develop their own use cases, rethink their day-to-day roles and ways of working, and develop complementary skills and expertise. They also have to navigate the potential upheaval around professional identity, the value of their expertise, job security, and ethical concerns, to name a few. Then there’s the next layer of the onion: the environment created by leaders over years and translated by managers into the daily work experience. When I work on these questions with my own clients, the t-words (tools & training) are a given. The bigger challenge keeping them up at night is everything around the t’s: changing work and thinking habits, solving job design and coordination, making it rational for people to integrate AI into their context, keeping work sustainable, preparing leaders to lead their teams through this turmoil for years to come. The transformation that AI requires is a different category of work. Investing crazy money in tooling but not in enablement is madness 😶

Jetzt. Was ich mitnehme: 1.

New York, let’s have dinner. 🍝 On Tuesday, November 10, we’re bringing the Bites Roadshow to NYC for an evening at Trattoria Dell’Arte’s Candle Room, right across from Carnegie Hall. The idea is simple: one long table and a room full of executives from leading companies who care about how frontline teams learn, grow, and perform. No slides. No pitch decks. Just real conversation about what’s working, what isn’t, and the pain points we’re all trying to solve. Some of the best ideas I’ve heard came from exactly these kinds of evenings, from people sharing notes from the trenches over a good meal. We kept it small on purpose, and only a few seats are still open. Læs mere her: https://lnkd.in/e_FFBPQF Ps. Skriv dine LinkedIn-In opslag selv ligesom mig.

Whether it’s America’s foreign policy or AI’s impacts, following global affairs can be dizzying. The first task for anyone trying to keep a level head is deciding what’s important and how it changes (or doesn’t) the big picture. The next, not least for business leaders on Economist Education’s geopolitics course, is analysing what that means for their organisation, and acting. The programme aims to help—and thankfully, our executive students tell us it does. The approach is to focus on fundamentals, not fleeting headlines, in materials written and recently updated by The Economist’s journalists, who also appear in videos and podcasts alongside other experts. Our accomplished students discuss global issues in online forums, and are prompted to consider how to apply what they learn. That could be in anything from investment decisions to supply-chain management. In case this sounds useful to you, a new run of the course starts soon. I can finally talk about this. We’ve been showing Cue privately, and the reactions have made keeping it quiet considerably harder. So we’re making it official at UNLEASH Paris. Meet Cue. Our AI performance agent. Every business wants its people to work differently. Lead better. Use AI effectively. Win more business. But between announcing the priority and changing what people actually do, there’s a lot of hoping, reminding and chasing. You can’t PowerPoint your way through that last mile. I’ve tried. Lovely slides, though. Cue starts with the work. It connects to the tools your teams already use, spots the knowledge, skill and behaviour gaps holding people back, and acts to close them. That could mean feedback on their work, 1:1 AI tutoring, a roleplay built around a real conversation, or the exact five minutes of a course they need. No one had to author that tutoring session or roleplay. Cue created it for that person, grounded in your company’s own knowledge and verified external expertise. Then it follows up to see what changes. That’s what I’m excited about. Support that keeps going, person by person, without someone having to organise every step. Cue works natively with HowNow's learning platform, or you can buy it standalone and connect it to your existing stack. I’m super proud of the team behind it, and very ready to show you. Coming to UNLEASH? Come and see us at the HowNow stand. Message me and we’ll find a time. #UNLEASHWorld #AI #FutureOfWork

Compliance training gets judged by completion rates. But the real test doesn't happen in the training module. It happens at 4:55pm on a Friday, when an email lands with a risk decision attached and nobody's around to ask. Ticking a box tells you someone sat through the content. It doesn't tell you what they'll do when the decision is theirs alone, under time pressure, with a client on the other end. Legal cover comes from the checkbox but good judgment comes from somewhere else. That's the part most training programs never touch.

My prediction for 2027: more companies will build learning around how their people work, not how the LMS works. The LMS is a great tool for a lot of employees. But there’s a gap between everyone who has a login and everyone it reliably reaches. If you’re working a shift, serving customers or moving between job sites, logging into the LMS might not fit easily into your day. That doesn’t make your learning needs any less important. Curated courses aren’t disappearing in 2027 (or 2028). And in-person facilitated learning is still the gold standard for plenty of things. I expect to see more companies keeping what works and adding ways to deliver and track learning for the people they’re struggling to reach. That’s a big part of what we’re building at 7taps Microlearning. Your LMS may serve some people really well. We want to help you reach everyone. Who are you struggling to reach?

Dear compliance managers, stop focusing on teaching the rules. Most people can tell you what the rules are. That's not the same as applying them when a real decision shows up. Behavior under pressure doesn't follow the same logic as a knowledge test, the same person can pass the quiz and still freeze, or guess wrong, when it actually counts. The training that works combines both. Simulation for the judgment call, e-learning for the knowledge check. They test different things, and skipping one to lean harder on the other just moves the gap somewhere else. None of this requires gamification to land. Effective and engaging are two different questions, and only one of them determines whether someone makes the right call. #compliance #gamification #seriousgames
