Repeat after me: Return on Adspend is not linear! [+ our Q4 campaign update] The problem with LinkedIn ad campaigns is that they often don't "feel" like they are working and the success metrics are lagging very, very far behind the spend. But this is by design. You can't expect results from your campaign before you've reached enough accounts enough times to build awareness 🤡 Deal open rate (on average, very recent data from 118 accounts) still hovers below 1% (0.66% to be precise) so you need to reach A LOT of accounts before you see pipeline. And by *reach* we mean 10-15 meaningful impressions *per member* in the account - so if you're targeting 10 people in the account - you need to deliver a 100-150 impressions per account! And then - you do need to expect that pipeline will lag weeks or months behind the campaign end. So when I said I'm planning to open $105k in pipeline from a 13 week campaign - I didn't mean open it in 13 weeks. Otherwise the companies with impressions at the tail-end of the campaign would get no time to enter the sales funnel at all. So you need to plan to hit your KPIs on an end-skewed curve, not a linear scale. Look - I know this sucks. I'm used to spending 10 to 20x more on LinkedIn ads than I am now, where the impact on leading was a lot more 'visible' (an expectedly higher volume of demo bookings). I feel I still haven't quite rebooted my expectations of the campaigns I'm running 😅 It is *scary* to be front-loading budget and not seeing an immediate return on it - but that's why, when planning campaigns - you need to a) track leading metrics b) manage expectations that the return on adspend is not linear. So here is our own Q4 campaign at week 5 of 13, scored both ways (P.S: Use ZenABM's FREE trial for 37 days get this level of visibility into your accounts & plan your ABM strategy for 2027: https://lnkd.in/dp-Ym6Wj) DELIVERY 🔴 Spend: 44% of budget, 38% expected. 🟢 Impressions (feed, the ones that count toward the 18): 41% of goal, 38% expected. 🟢 TLA impressions (8 of the 18): 61% of goal, 38% expected. 🔴 Document impressions (10 of the 18): 6% of goal, 38% expected & over its CPM ceiling ($32.59 vs $26). 🟢 Dose per reached account: 9.6 of 18, 6.9 expected. 🔴 Companies reached: 15,649 of 20,413. I remember my first forecast meeting. It's a horrible meeting. It's stressful. Nobody wants to explain why they failed to close the deal they promised to. Why they are not meeting quota. No other profession has this type of meeting. not marketing. not product. not engineering. Trust me I've been to all the other meetings. None come close. I also remember the top seller in that meeting. He was already at 200% of quota mid-quarter. He logged in with his camera off. He was the first to speak and he left the meeting after he finished talking (idk where, maybe he went golfing…). That's the life of being a seller. It's a rollercoaster. You're either at the top and answer to no one, or at the bottom, scared of losing your job. That was the moment I thought there must be a better way. Backdrop is the outcome of that moment. If you asked me the one thing I can't lead without, it's trust. It's the whole foundation. 🤝 But trust doesn't just appear because you want it to, and it isn't the same as hoping for the best. What makes it possible is clarity. Clear goals, clear priorities, from day one. I don't micromanage, but I'm clear about what matters and when it needs to happen. That clarity is what lets trust and accountability sit side by side. When everyone knows the goal, the team starts pushing for each other instead of waiting on each other. When the goal is shared, you move as one.

Years of research and development finally peaked last month with the launch of our first VIG offering 🪟 Bringing VELUX Vacuum Insulating Glazing (VIG) technology to market has taken a committed effort from people across VELUX, alongside external partners including Guardian Glass Europe & Guardian Glass North America We brought together expertise across the full value-chain from research, design and construction, operations, procurement, and testing and continued to reshape the work as we learned. Like many radical innovations, the project has been through ups-and-downs, paused and restarted along the way. But we have managed to push-through due to the relentless drive of people across many disciplines who kept exploring the potential of VIG. I am proud that we dare to rethink what window technology can be for the future. But a new technology only becomes innovation when it benefits people. With VIG technology, we have the potential to deliver a step-change on several window performance parameters while using fewer materials. The early feedback from our UK and Ireland launch has been incredibly encouraging... AND our VIG solution has already won its first award, taking home #BestExteriorProduct🏆 Thank you to everyone – colleagues and partners – who has helped bring this from an idea to the market.

I wanted to post about how we run $5000 ABM strategy on LinkedIn ads with cheap ad formats today, but I went into such a rabbit hole with the numbers (thanks to ZenABM MCP server! 🫠) that I’m going to post about running something else after all 😅 Well, move over Astronomer - here’s me & my boss on the Big Half today! I've heard that married couples have it harder than strangers to raise funding. I find it uncanny that investors would rather bet on two 20-something strangers that met in a collage dorm over a couple that has decided to literally merge their financial lives (hence: less likely to fight over equity, imho), have and have weathered some of life's worst hardships together. If people have survived illness, unemployment, parents' death, miscarriages, bringing up children - I'm sure they will also survive choosing the colour of the signup button. But there is this prejudice that the intensity of running a business and a household together makes couples more likely to split up (which explains why almost everyone I told I’m planning to join my husband’s startup would immediately ask “aren’t you worried about that?” - implying “aren’t you worried it will ruin your relationship, not to mention the business?”). While there’s little literature on couples working together - literally no study has found them more likely to split up than the ones that don’t. And when you think about it - why would they? Spending 5 minutes on Linkedin is enough to realise how incredibly important work is to us - as a source of purpose, meaning in life, identity, self-worth and belonging. Perhaps even more than family or religion. Why would having a shared sense of purpose, meaning, and identity pose a threat to a couple that got together precisely to share their entire lives? For the past 7 years, we’ve been running many things together. From business projects, through households, rental apartments (and now also races because I’m getting just getting slower with age 😅 ) - and ZenABM is just another shared goal we have together (try it free here btw. https://lnkd.in/dp-Ym6Wj) And I’m grateful for the other “couples in business” I’m following on LinkedIn that are openly sharing about their “working relationship” - and helping break that stereotype. In no particular order: Alina Vandenberghe 🌶️ & Nicolas Vandenberghe from Chili Piper Iuliia Shnai & Marc Seitz from Papermark Maja Voje & Anze Voje from Go-To-Market Strategist Kinga Edwards & Andrew Edwards from Brainy Bees Paulina Walkowiak & Kamil Walkowiak from cux.io (Whom else should I follow btw??) Keep it up! P.S. Maybe lapping your boss in your first week is not such a good idea 😅 P.P.S: 1:49

Setting ambitious goals is one thing. Inspiring people to give their best to achieve them is another. As a business grows, leaders must do more than set targets and measure performance. They need to help people understand the purpose behind the work and how their contribution supports the organisation's wider vision. Without that clarity, people may focus on completing tasks rather than looking for ways to improve results. I believe strong leadership creates an environment where people understand the direction, take ownership of their responsibilities and feel motivated to contribute beyond expectations. I have been guilty of measuring the wrong metrics for Legal. Reporting on the number of contracts reviewed in a quarter doesn’t tell the business what we achieved. Contract count is activity, not impact. Whether it’s 176 small NDAs or 8 enterprise deals, a count alone misses what matters. We reported it because it was easy to count and somebody asked us for a number. Turnaround time is better, but there’s a trap. My team could hit under 2 hours on every review tomorrow by accepting every tracked change. Fast and wrong needs no lawyers, at least until the clean-up. It just increases risk and incentivises the wrong behaviour. AI gives us an opportunity to report differently and speak the language of the business, whilst managing risk. We can now see things we couldn’t before. Deviation from standard terms as a percentage. Days from request to signed agreement and where the time goes. The value of pipeline sitting with Legal. The share of work agents handle inside guardrails legal set, with no lawyer touching it. We are good at the work and bad at making the case for it. “We are overworked” is not an ask. I’ve done that one myself. “This much revenue is waiting on Legal, here is why and here is what unblocks it” gives the business something to act on. Getting there means pausing. Every quarter we run a retro on what we built, what moved along without us (with guardrails), what we had to tear up and what I’d do differently. It always feels like one more thing. It’s also what helps the next quarter look different from the last. On Tuesday 24 November I’ll take our CEO Ross McNairn through our quarterly review, live. What we’ll cover: ➡️ The metrics I report each quarter and why I’ve replaced the old ones ➡️ What we’ve actually built and the team structure with agents on it ➡️ Wins, the things I’d redo and what I’m building next ➡️ How to show the business what legal delivers and the risk you’re actually carrying Tuesday 24 November, 4pm GMT / 11am ET.

There’s one topic that usually gets overlooked that I’m looking forward to discussing at Workday Rising next month... I suspect a lot of the conversations there will be about sourcing and hiring great candidates using AI. The bit I’m more interested in is what happens after all that great work, but before your new hire starts. You've used fancy AI tools to assist in sourcing and selecting the right candidate. They've said yes. And the hiring manager is ready for them to start. Amazing. But then there's a lag. Everyone’s waiting on background checks to clear (and pulling a variation of the face below - yes I am shoehorning in my cameo as the frustrated HR Manager in Zinc's ad). Best case: A candidate and hiring manager goes from being excited to frustrated in the weeks leading up to their new role. Worst case: A counter-offer gets accepted, and it's straight back to the drawing board. All the hard work goes to waste. Either way, it's the part of the hiring process that makes everyone the most nervous. It's also being talked about the least. If you’re in Barcelona for Rising on 17-19 November, and you're interested in this kind of conversation, I'd love to speak. #WDAYRising #WDAYRisingEMEA #WorkdayRisingEMEA

Our customer survey found that 82% of planners require clear logic before they will trust an AI output. That result didn’t surprise me. If anything, it confirmed something that has been core to how we develop at AGR for a long time: transparency has to be built into the product, not added afterwards. It becomes even more important with AI. When we designed AI Sales History, we were asking planners to trust something quite complex: building a sales history for an item based on the behaviour of comparable items. We could simply have surfaced the result. Instead, we show how we got there. Planners can see which comparable items were selected, why they were selected, the weightings applied and how the resulting sales history was constructed. They can question the matches, adjust the inputs if they disagree, and every override is logged so the reasoning remains traceable. That matters because this isn’t just an interesting AI recommendation. The sales history feeds directly into things like safety stock, reorder points and opening order quantities. If a planner can’t understand where the numbers came from, it’s very difficult for them to confidently own the decisions that follow. For me, this is one of the most important principles as we bring more AI into inventory planning. Transparency isn’t a feature of our AI strategy. It’s folded into how we build the product. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eNsHgh2a

GitHub went down for a few hours today. Somewhere out there, a fleet of AI agents just went silent - because their "communication layer" was a comment thread on a pull request. I hear this constantly. We sit with developers - serious teams, real products, even coding agents in production - and ask how their agents actually work together. The answer, more often than you'd think: "Oh, that's easy. They leave each other comments on GitHub." Let that sit for a second. The autonomous agents you're trusting to write and ship your code are talking to each other through PR comments. It "works" - until GitHub goes dark for a few hours and every one of them goes silent with it. And even when it's up, you can't trace it, can't manage it, can't trust it. A comment thread was never a message bus for a team of agents. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝘅. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

Managers who are great leaders help their team members achieve more than they would on their own. This often means pushing people for peak performance—when you do this, a decision is put to your team: buy-in or check out. If you give someone even one reason to disrespect you, you've made your job infinitely harder. Leadership isn't about being liked—it's about being trusted and being respected. So set the standard, lead by example, and never give your team members a reason to doubt you. #NationalLeadershipDay #TransPerfect #Leadership #LeadByExample #HighPerformance #LeadershipDay

É você quem monta o PDI do time. Kuvassa on kuusi tällaista paria. Ensimmäinen on liiketoimintadata. Toinen on agenttien tekemät hankinnat.
