You won't find out from a press release. You'll find out from a quote. Firms that rebuild a process properly don't announce it, so it reaches you second-hand. Their quote turnaround drops from 3 days to the same afternoon. They stop hiring into a function that used to grow with revenue. A customer mentions, in passing, that they got an answer at 9pm on a Sunday. By the time the case study lands, they're 3 or 4 iterations past whatever it describes. That's what makes the Compound Gap hard to react to. It shows up in someone else's response times long before it shows up in your numbers. So here's the cheap version of finding out. Pick the 2 processes where a competitor getting faster would be visible to your own customers, and time yours this week. Not the average, the worst case. That number is your baseline, and without one you can't have a serious conversation about readiness in either direction. Our library maps 10 agents to specific departments and roles inside a Microsoft environment, https://lnkd.in/ecktBPHj

66% versus 13%. Those two numbers describe where most companies are with AI right now. Microsoft’s 2026 Work Trend Index surveyed 20,000 AI users. 66% say AI gives them more time for high-value work, and 58% are producing work they couldn’t have produced a year ago.The organisation is lagging behind. Only 26% say their leadership is clearly and consistently aligned on AI, and just 13% feel rewarded for redesigning their work with AI when the results are uneven at first. Everyone has a Copilot or a ChatGPT and the person becomes the integration: copy the data out of the system, paste it into the chat, paste the answer back. That’s an individual gain, and it never shows up in the company’s numbers. So how do you decide where AI can make the biggest ROI if your team spends the day copy-pasting? Pick one process and count how many times a colleague copies data between AI and your systems in a week, then multiply by the minutes each round trip takes. Now you know how many hours a week that process loses to copy-paste. The process with the most hours is where your first agent should go. Someone is already doing that work by hand, and now you have a number to measure the agent against.

Two powders, poured the same way. One flows. One doesn’t. What’s the difference? This is one of my favorite demonstrations to share, because it proves that a smooth production run often starts at the formulation stage. The powder on the right uses our Advanced Powder Technology. We combine beadlet and granulation technologies, pre-formulated into the premix, with the right mineral product forms, so it’s easier to handle, dose, and process. The powder on the left shows why that’s important. Low or inconsistent flow can disrupt production and, in severe cases, block equipment completely. In the final product, it can mean lumps and uneven dosages. In my experience, flowability is easy to underestimate until it starts costing time on the line. This is exactly the kind of challenge we will be discussing during our webinar on November 16. We’ll talk through the six technology platforms behind Advanced Powder Technology, share real case studies, and look at what it all means for your business. If you work in formulation or production, I’d highly recommend tuning in: 🎤 Beyond Premix: Unlocking performance with Advanced Powder Technology 📅 November 16 | 16:00 CET 🔗 Register here: https://bit.ly/4zCQG9m #AdvancedPowderTechnology #Formulation #PremixSolutions

Latest Gather Signal episode is now out -- tune in to hear me subscription-shame Christophe Jammet, claim language as the original code, and remind our AI overlords that humans actually like to shop!! https://lnkd.in/e5MJWcPy

Forecast accuracy is usually measured with MAE or RMSE. For battery storage, we've found those are the wrong metrics. Our team has been quantifying revenue capture for BESS systems lately, asking whether a more accurate forecast (by standard metrics) actually translates to more revenue for the operator. The answer: nMAE barely correlates with revenue captured. A forecast can look great on paper and still leave value on the table. Spearman correlation works better. It measures whether the forecast gets the order of price points right, which is what tells a battery when to charge and discharge to capture spread. In our modeling, it correlates almost perfectly with revenue capture. The lesson generalizes: the right metric for a forecast depends on the use case. It's the one tied to value created, not the one obvious one. Curious if anyone has seen a similar mismatch in other forecast use cases.

GM laid off 600 IT workers Monday. That same day: 80 open IT positions for AI-native developers, prompt engineers, and agent builders. This is the skills swap. It's happening everywhere. I wrote about what it means, and the uncomfortable truth about what happens to the people who refuse to engage with AI tools. https://lnkd.in/gcZrFiAh

As attention shifts to the midterm elections, its easy to lose sight of whats happening behind the scenes. Federal funding priorities are still taking shape through budget decisions, agency actions, and procurement. Those signals can have long-term implications long before the election headlines fade. The teams that connect those signals early are often better positioned to understand where priorities are headed and where opportunities may emerge. Bloomberg Government helps connect those pieces so you can see the full federal funding picture. AI is already paying off. What happens next depends on whether companies can govern what they've built. Every year, we survey more than a thousand CxOs and senior leaders to see where AI actually stands. This years Applied AI Index, based on 1,330 responses across 20 sectors, gave me three things worth sitting with: 💵 AI spend has doubled in under a year, up from 1.7% of revenue to 3.3%. And 80% of it now sits outside the traditional enterprise IT budget, showing up in talent, governance, and products instead. 📈 Companies leading on AI, what we call scaling and future-built organizations, generate 3 times as much value from it as companies lagging behind. Narrow that to just the most advanced group, the future-built companies, and the gap widens to 6 times. ⚠️ Only 5% of companies have full agent controls in place enterprise-wide, while 42% expect to hand agents real autonomy by 2030. That last one is the gap I'd point every leadership team toward. Most companies plan to give AI agents real decision-making power well before they've built the oversight to do it safely. This is the moment to decide which side of that gap you want to be on. Read the full Applied AI Index 2026 to learn how to stay ahead: https://lnkd.in/gmbhMEQB

🖥️🖥️ Many companies still treat AI spend as an enterprise IT line item. 🖥️🖥️ Our data suggests thats no longer the full picture. Boston Consulting Group (BCG)'s new Applied AI Index 2026, based on a global survey of 1,330 CxOs and senior leaders, found that AI spending has doubled in less than a year, from 1.7% of revenue to 3.3%. More than 80% of that spend now sits outside the traditional enterprise IT budget, showing up instead in AI talent, governance, and AI embedded directly into products. 👉 That spending pattern tells its own story: AI is still a technology initiative, but its also grown into something bigger, a core business investment. Companies should focus on the right moves across strategic clarity, applied AI, and transformative impact to realize value from their AI investments. We are giving enterprise engineering teams $20,000 in Arena Credits to train and deploy their own model on Arena. Training a model of your own takes compute, time and engineering effort. These credits are there to make the first one easier to start. Why it is worth doing: - Keep control. A model you host runs where your data already lives, and its availability no longer depends on an external provider. - Contain costs. Per-token pricing grows with every request, while self-hosting is paid per hour of compute, and that trade improves the larger your organisation is. - Performance on your tasks. A smaller model trained for one job can outperform a frontier model at that job. A frontier API is a good place to start. When its output reads like a junior hire, rather than an experienced senior, that is usually the point to train a model of your own. You can apply at https://lnkd.in/eqZ3KgFm

When AI budgets get cut, the frontier API bill will be the first to go. Arthur Mensch put the other side of it well: "Don't pace building and owning your own AI models and systems as an enterprise, and there will be no doomsday for you." If the market turns and AI spending falls, finance looks first at the cost that keeps accelerating with usage. That's the frontier. Every extra call costs more, and none of it stays in the business. A model you've trained on your own data works differently. It runs on your infrastructure, it's built for your use case, and it gets better every time you retrain it. That's an asset you own, and it's much harder to cut. So I'd expect a downturn to drive an even larger migration to open source. And if you're already building your own intelligence on open-weight models, brilliant. Keep at it. This is exactly what we help enterprises do at AgileRL.

94% completion. Zero behavior change. That's not a training win. That's a blind spot. A client showed me their L&D dashboard last month. 94% completion rate, 4.6 out of 5 satisfaction. By every metric on that slide, the training had worked. Three months later, the actual behavior on the floor hadn't moved at all. To be honest, this isn't rare, it's the norm. Decades of research keep landing on the same number: only 10-20% of what's taught in formal training actually transfers into on-the-job behavior. Manager-required compliance training routinely hits 90%+ completion and still produces no real change, because completion measures whether someone clicked through a module, not whether they do anything differently under pressure. Leadership knows this, sort of, and still optimizes for the wrong signal. A 2026 Gartner survey of security leaders found 84% of organizations prioritize training completion as their top metric, while only 6% track the thing that actually predicts risk: how often people bypass the training the moment it's inconvenient. We keep grading the easy test and then act surprised when the real-world score doesn't match. The thing is, completion rate was never a business outcome. It's a proxy that's easy to drop into a slide. Behavior change, time-to-competency, fewer repeat errors, fewer workarounds under deadline pressure - that's the real test, and it's harder to measure, so most companies quietly stop looking. If your training dashboard leads with completion, you're not measuring whether the training worked. You're measuring whether the LMS can export a report. What do you think - does your org measure behavior or just attendance? #LearningAndDevelopment #FrontlineWorkforce #TrainingROI

#Doedemee?

"Different countries have different realities." A point that stayed with me from my conversation with economist Professor Douglas Deng on The Smokeless Word: Live from the Lab. From developed economies to those where tobacco farming supports livelihoods, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to tobacco harm reduction. But every country needs an evidence-based framework. As a scientist, that resonates. Evidence should set the direction; local realities shape how it's applied. Catch a first look below ⬇️ #TheSmokelessWord #Omni

I often ask customers what quality means to them. This week at High Point Market, I turned the question on myself. After seven years of walking these showrooms, here's my answer: 🛡️ Quality is protecting brand equity. Every product carrying your name is a promise. One bad shipment can undo years of trust with retailers and consumers. 📉 Quality is keeping claims down. Returns, chargebacks and complaints aren't just costs. They're signals that something upstream needs attention, and the earlier you catch it, the cheaper it is. 🌱 Quality is a growth mindset. It's never "done." The best teams I meet treat every inspection, every defect and every supplier conversation as a chance to improve the process. 🤝 Quality is making products the whole organization is proud of. From design and sourcing to the factory floor and the showroom, everyone should be able to stand behind what ships. And nowhere do you see that in full force like a High Point showroom. The salespeople are selling what designers designed, manufacturers made, and quality teams oversaw. Every piece on that floor is the result of many hands, and the showrooms are where everybody's best work comes together. High Point is also where I've built friendships, networks and partnerships, and where the conversations about trends, compliance and quality keep pushing the industry forward. So, now my regular question back to you: what does quality mean for you?

I've lost count of the 11 p.m. close week calls from clients that started the same way: a consolidation load failed, and no one could say why. It's almost never the team. It's almost never the tool. It's usually one cost center that got created in the source system last Tuesday and never made it into the hierarchy the consolidation depends on. Someone hand-edits a flat file, reruns the load, and goes home. The number is wrong until it quietly isn't. After years around financial systems, I've come to believe this isn't an effort problem. It's a master data problem. The accounts, entities, and hierarchies underneath your close are the scaffolding for every number you report. When every system keeps its own copy and people maintain them by hand, they drift... and drift becomes failed loads, restated numbers, and audit findings. More people checking spreadsheets won't fix it. One governed source of truth that feeds every EPM and ERP system will. I wrote down how I think about it... link in the comments. If your close still runs on flat files and macros, I'm always up for comparing notes. #OfficeoftheCFO #FinancialClose #MasterDataManagement

Drei Fragen, die du deinem IT-Leiter heute stellen solltest. 1. 3.

Every "best master data management software" list I have read this year has the same problem. It was written for enterprise data teams reconciling customer records. Finance was an afterthought. Finance has a different job. The chart of accounts, legal entities, cost centers, and hierarchies have to stay correct across the ERP, the EPM applications, and the warehouse, on a close calendar that does not move. So we wrote the comparison we could not find: nine platforms, judged on the six things finance actually needs. 1. Governance workflow. Can a change be requested, approved, and deployed through an audited path? 2. Data quality. Is bad metadata blocked at entry, or found during close? 3. Enterprise integration. Does it reach Databricks, SAP, Oracle EPM, OneStream, and your ERP without a build? 4. Business-user ownership. Can finance run it without a ticket? 5. Audit and versioning. Who, what, when, why. 6. Cost and licensing. Does the pricing model punish growth? We covered Informatica, Profisee, Semarchy, SAP MDG, Oracle EDM, Ataccama, Reltio, Stibo, and EPMware. Yes, EPMware is ours, and we say where each of the others is the better choice. The pattern that emerged: most of these are excellent platforms built for IT. Only a couple are built for the close. Full guide in the comments. #MasterDataManagement #FinanceTransformation #OfficeoftheCFO #DataGovernance
