Depende do design. STILL open 2 months later This is the convo I had with a start-up founder in Arizona last week. She’s now behind on her roadmap - stuck with stacks of unqualified CVs Because traditional hiring isn’t built for her startup 🏃🏽♂️ They don’t have $180K+ to land senior US talent. And they can’t afford to wait 6 months competing with big tech My solution: → Mix local with nearshore. (Something 58% of US SMBs are already doing) I’m now filling that Senior React role - from the top 5% of LATAM talent. With competitive compensation at 80K For me, this isn’t about "cutting corners" It’s about helping her startup build now - so they can scale later (and eventually afford to add more US talent) I don't think startups should have to lower their bar - just expand their reach 🌎 Agree? --- P.S I recently shot my first ever Tella vid - mapping out how our hiring engine made this possible 👇🏼 P.P.S. If you’re scaling a tech team and want the flexibility of global hiring - I'm always up for a discovery call (no pressure!) 😊 https://lnkd.in/ewHVrMHn

Remember when you had to build reports to answer simple questions? We're making that a "remember when" story. 🎯 Ask ChartHop is now live across all five modules Starting today, our conversational AI works everywhere you work: HRIS, Headcount Planning, Performance, Engagement, and Compensation. Why this matters: The best people decisions happen when you connect business outcomes to workforce data. Most tools make you choose one or the other. Ask ChartHop lets you ask both in the same conversation. Real questions you can now ask: "Who are my highest paid employees in departments missing their OKRs?" "What's our total comp spend in roles that haven't closed a deal in 6+ months?" "Show me flight risk employees who also own critical customer relationships" "Show me the ROI of adding 2 SDRs vs. 1 AE based on our current pipeline conversion" "Which roles should we backfill first based on revenue exposure and time-to-hire?" "If we acquire a company, where do we have redundant roles vs. capability gaps?" "What does our org structure need to look like to support our 3-year revenue model?" Stop guessing which people decisions move the needle. Start asking.

A CEO just offered a Chief Scientist $3.8M total comp. The candidate turned it down. Not because the money wasn't good. Because the CEO couldn't explain the technical architecture in the interview. This is happening everywhere right now. Here's what AI executive compensation actually looks like: Chief AI Officer (Fortune 500) Base: $600K - $700K Bonus: $450K - $700K (75-100% of base) Equity: $2M - $4M (4-year vest) Total year 1: $2.5M - $4M+ Chief Scientist (AI Startup) Base: $350K - $500K Bonus: $200K - $300K (60% of base) Equity: 0.5% - 2% (could be worth $10M+) Total year 1: $800K - $1.5M+ (plus massive equity upside) AI-fluent CHRO Base: $500K - $550K Bonus: $350K - $400K (70-75% of base) Equity: $1.5M - $3M 30-50% premium over traditional CHRO But here's what nobody talks about: These numbers don't matter if you can't close the candidate. The best AI talent doesn't care about your brand or your budget. They care about three things: 1. Can your CEO talk about model architecture? 2. Is your mission worth their time? 3. Will they have real autonomy to build? If the answer to any of those is no, you're competing on price. And you've already lost. We just released our Q4 2025 AI Compensation Benchmark with 47 roles. Comment "DATA" and I'll send it.

Meta quietly laid off 600 AI roles without warning in 2024. Inside, a dangerous talent imbalance began spreading like wildfire. In January 2024, Meta let go of roughly 600 employees. They were tied to its Fundamental AI Research division. At the same time, a smaller group of top researchers, received more resources and clearer paths to influence. The change was driven by revenue pressure and a push toward applied AI projects that could ship faster. Inside the company, researchers described quiet confusion around priorities and career paths. Uneven investment can shift culture without warning. As FAIR grew to nearly 1,000 employees at its peak, the balance of talent became harder to manage. Leaders had to decide where to place their focus. When support concentrated around a small group, other roles began to feel disconnected from the mission. Communication gaps surfaced. Teams started to move at different speeds. Uncertainty spread faster than many expected. This same pattern shows up in hyper-growth companies. New roles are added quickly, and hiring clusters around a few high-impact positions. But when the broader team cannot see how investment flows, morale drops quietly. Signals stack on top of one another: Slow onboarding More rework Less trust CEOs and CHROs may not feel the shift at first, but their teams do. People begin to guess at priorities instead of asking. Momentum begins to feel heavy. The effects surface later in missed deadlines and talent churn. Growth works best when everyone can see where they fit. Support needs to be visible. Resources need to be clear. Every role needs to feel connected to the mission. Momentum travels through people. And the whole system depends on balance. Uneven talent investment creates drift. When teams lose clarity, progress slows, and it often slows quietly. If you’re seeing early signs of this drift inside your org, there’s a proven path forward. The stock market's downward turn alongside record-high layoffs is no coincidence. But it might not be as direct of a correlation as you think. To be clear, this isn't a fresh story. The labor market's been cooling for a while, and the stock market is going to be jumpier than usual in a government shutdown. Without federal data, investors are reacting strongly to any signals they can get, whether it's our own job cuts report or workforce decisions from major corporations. And since the market has been rewarding layoffs (until now), corporations have been eager to announce them. But I also don't expect layoff announcements to recede any time this year. On the individual side, HR leaders are in a particularly tough position. Typically, HR doesn't get a say in layoffs, but is expected to execute the strategy. And when workers lose their jobs en masse, whole teams and divisions can become demoralized. The strongest way to rebuild engagement in uncertain times is with transparent communication. If jobs are stable, let your people know. But if layoffs are headed your way, lead with clarity, compassion, and support. Watch the full segment: https://lnkd.in/gDVxPrYx

It was a snapshot of how people actually feel: • Some blamed 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 - “Act like a manager to become one.” • Some blamed 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 - “Keep records. It’s the only protection you have.” • Some blamed 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘥 - “Doing more with less staff.” • Some blamed 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘴 - “I worked 10.5 hour days for 7.6 hours pay in the 90s.” The opinions were blunt. Some were funny. Some were hard to read. As a CEO, I’m taking it as a reminder that workforce management isn’t just software. It’s the relationship between people, expectations, and fairness. 🏇 Has a customer ever asked you for an "electric horse" feature? I used this term yesterday during a product review meeting at Check, and the blank stares of some of my team members let me know that a definition was in order. As far as I can tell the phrase originates from Henry Ford, and was then re-popularized when Steve Jobs invoked Ford to explain his product strategy at Apple. Ford's original quote was, "If I'd asked customers what they wanted, they would have told me, 'A faster horse!'" The point is: don't always follow your customers' suggestions about the solutions to the problems they're facing. Instead, ask probing questions to identify the customer's underlying problem, and then think from first principles about the best solution. Due to context and expertise, you may arrive at a very different place than your customer, but that will generally be to the advantage of your customer in the long run. Here's an small, recent example of an "electric horse" feature request and how we responded to it. Since the earliest versions of Check's API, our sandbox environment has had a property where payrolls, once approved, are automatically moved through their status lifecycle (from pending, to processing, to paid) by an automated job that runs every five minutes. This makes it so that sandbox users can quickly simulate status transitions on payroll objects, which usually take days to play out in production. A customer asked if we could enable them to modify the amount of time between sandbox status transitions (i.e. change it from five minutes to ten minutes). We dug deeper and understood that this customer's core problem was that they were building a custom set of integration tests on their side, and didn't have time to predictably run all the tests they wanted to on a payroll before it was transitioned to the next status. Instead of giving them a way to control the time between automated status updates, we thought a more direct solution would be to simply give them the ability to control the status of sandbox payrolls themselves. So we built that, and launched it last quarter (docs: https://lnkd.in/e4EehZ3p). I think the "electric horse" feature is a useful concept to have in one's vocabulary as a product person. What "electric horse" features have you responded to lately?

🚀 Pumped to share a case study with OnTheClock, one of our favorite partners here at Check. Sharing some of my favorite pull quotes from Jeff Hughes, Director of Customer Success and Sales at OnTheClock. https://lnkd.in/ejfbz3iT "What stood out was Check's reputation. We had a robust list of requirements and functionality. It came down to having a trusted partner who would be with us throughout the process—a company that has the industry expertise, something we could embed in the product, and a team to help us be successful in the go-to-market strategy. Check stood out there. Plus, some of the other names out there could be viewed as competitors and it would be difficult to get into business and partnership with a competitor." "From ease of execution perspective, taking an already industry-proven enrollment process and embedding it into our product was the easiest and quickest way to get to market. The flow makes sense. Once you’re interested in payroll, you start with eligibility and enrollment, then migrate seamlessly through Check’s setup components. If we had to build each component individually, it would have taken a lot longer. With Check, we launched last December, versus potentially still talking about it today." Thanks Jeff Hughes for the kind words - we're honored and excited to continue to powering OnTheClock's payroll business!

An important milestone for the employer branding community: the launch of the Employer Branding Alliance. What started in 2019 as the European Association of Employer Branding Agencies is now entering a new phase of development — one that reflects a broader ambition, a stronger international footprint and a more connected way of delivering employer branding across markets. The Employer Branding Alliance brings together independent, senior-led agencies from across Europe, united not by standardisation, but by a shared mindset: pushing employer branding forward, challenging convention and helping clients solve increasingly complex talent challenges. For Catalyst Solutions, this moment also has a special meaning.
