FUTURE FACES in Paris! Erst FUTURE FACES, dann IMCAS. Paris wird Ende Januar intensiv. 😉

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Across three days of discussions at the World Health Summit on global health, innovation and collaboration, there was one consensus: scientific progress alone does not make healthcare systems more resilient. What matters is whether that progress reaches patients. I was particularly honoured to contribute to Daiichi Sankyo's session on 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯'𝘴 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. From my experience as a physician, I know that even the most promising medical advances can only make a difference when the conditions around care are right. In breast cancer, for example, we have made remarkable progress. Yet across Europe, significant disparities remain in screening, timely diagnosis, biomarker testing and access to innovative treatments. At the IFPMA roundtable on trust in science, we explored another dimension of the same challenge: 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲. 𝗜𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀. For me, these discussions reinforced something fundamental: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆'𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀. We also have a role to play in connecting science, policy and clinical practice – working with partners across the healthcare ecosystem to turn progress into better outcomes. Thank you to everyone who contributed to these important conversations, and to my Daiichi Sankyo colleagues for making our engagement possible.

What has changed in statistical computing since 2024? In 2024, Caroline Phares and Pascal Bouquet spoke with SCE leaders at several large pharma companies as part of the Open SCE initiative. They shared the findings at PHUSE EU Connect 2024: https://lnkd.in/duKEeXuw Reading those findings again alongside our conversations with biometrics leaders this year, the shift is clear. In 2024, the discussion centered on SCE infrastructure: * Orchestration: planning and task allocation were largely managed in Excel, and there was a strong need for an integrated orchestration layer. Code management: this emerged as a critical area. Git was seen as too complex for statisticians, and companies were looking for a simpler interface. Open source: concerns about support, maintenance, governance and siloed efforts were still significant. * AI: mostly a future topic, such as drafting code or a table of contents from the SAP, or generating independent QC programs. In 2026, the starting point is different: * Open source: established in GxP work. R-based submissions have been filed, and at one large pharma company about 60% of standard TFLs are now produced in R. The question has moved from why to when and how. * AI: in use, but in narrow and well-controlled places. AI-generated ADaM code is used on live studies, and tools that take an SAP through to TLFs are close to production. * QC: the question has reversed. In 2024, AI was discussed as a way to generate independent QC. Today, teams are asking what should replace independent replication when AI writes part of the code. Integration: the main friction is no longer moving code or tasks, but moving the metadata and context that give the data its meaning. Some things have not changed. Excel is still widely used, and human oversight remains the main safeguard. In the next post, we will look at the trends emerging from this shift.

I’m very excited to partner with Patsnap and Ray Chohan. Patsnap has done a fantastic job of making clinical trial and patent data AI-ready. Unlike others who just add data as an MCP call to say they have it, we’ve built custom skills, data models, and pipelines to bring this data into unified scientific workflows. Combining it with our rich data ecosystem, our knowledge graph, and more than 40 models that cover the jobs to be done in research. Clinical evaluation is the most underestimated challenge in your MDR compliance journey. Most manufacturers focus heavily on QMS documentation and technical files. But it's your clinical evaluation that often becomes the bottleneck. Why? Because it requires both scientific rigor and regulatory precision. And notified bodies are scrutinizing this area more than ever before. The stakes are clear: insufficient clinical data means delayed market access or even rejection. So what does a compliant clinical evaluation actually look like? Here are 5 essential elements every MedTech leader needs to master: Clinical Evaluation Plan (CEP) ↳ This isn't just a document. It's your roadmap for success. ↳ Define specific endpoints that align with your intended purpose. ↳ Remember that vague objectives lead to undefined outcomes. Literature Review Strategy ↳ Simply collecting studies isn't enough anymore. ↳ You need a systematic search methodology with clear inclusion/exclusion criteria. ↳ Document why certain studies were rejected, auditors always ask this. Clinical Data Sufficiency ↳ "Sufficient" clinical data is subjective until you define it. ↳ Create a clear threshold for what constitutes adequate evidence. ↳ Pre-MDR data often falls short of current expectations. Post-Market Clinical Follow-Up (PMCF) ↳ This isn't optional. It's a fundamental part of your clinical evaluation. ↳ Notified bodies expect proactive data collection, not just passive surveillance. ↳ The days of "we have no complaints" as sufficient PMCF are long gone. Equivalence Justification ↳ The bar for equivalence has been raised significantly under MDR. ↳ You need access to technical documentation of equivalent devices. ↳ Without contractual agreements, equivalence claims are increasingly difficult to defend. Clinical evaluation isn't a one-time task. It's a continuous process throughout your device's lifecycle. The manufacturers who succeed are those who integrate clinical thinking from design phase through post-market surveillance. P.S. What's been your biggest challenge with clinical evaluations under MDR? ⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡⬡ MedTech regulatory challenges can be complex, but smart strategies, cutting-edge tools, and expert insights can make all the difference. I'm Tibor, passionate about leveraging AI to transform how regulatory processes are automated and managed. Let's connect and collaborate to streamline regulatory work for everyone! #automation #regulatoryaffairs #medicaldevices

#Coast2Coast #Nierstichting #BoehringerIngelheim #CyclingForACause #Niergezondheid

Four years ago, Everlab had no members, one clinician and a very long to do list. This week, LinkedIn ranked us #2 on its Top Startups list for Australia. Since we started, we’ve grown to a team of 130, delivered 23x revenue growth in 2025 and raised a $65M Series A. Lists like this tend to reward pace. What I’m prouder of is where that pace has gone: 20,000+ members, 40,000+ consultations and 21m+ biomarker results, each one helping someone act on their health earlier. Healthcare is still overwhelmingly reactive and we're spending enormous amounts treating disease once it shows up. We started Everlab to do it the other way round. Start with the person, and work out what they need from there. It isn’t the easiest industry to operate in. Scaling healthcare means getting clinicians, technology, operations and member experience to move at the same speed, without ever trading off the quality of care. Most weeks, at least one of those is running ahead of the others. I’m incredibly grateful to the team building this every day. This recognition is a reflection of their work and the ambition we share. We’re actively hiring. Viimeisten kuukausien aikana olemme nostaneet esiin läheisten kokemuksia ja tarinoita siitä, miltä hoivan saatavuuden haasteet tuntuvat. Kasvoina kampanjassamme ovat olleet aidot läheiset, joilla on rakkaita meidän kodeissamme. Miksi pelkkiä naisia, minulta on kysytty. Hoivalla on naisen kasvot.

Usein he tekevät sen yksin. Ullan matka on yksi niistä. 💙 #EnnenKaikkeaOlemmeKoti @AttendoSuomi

To become a medical doctor🩺 , you need to study. A lot. Every doctor you meet has spent countless hours reading, questioning, and staying curious. When I was a young medical student, I believed all that studying was leading to one destination: working in a hospital, seeing patients every day, wearing the white coat. That was my path, and I had never questioned it. But life has serendipitous ways, and I ended up working in pharmacovigilance, far away from the hospital setting I had always envisioned for myself. While it was far from what I had expected, it broadened my perspective on what it means to care for patients. Over time, I realised that helping patients can take many forms and that not a single second of my medical training had been wasted. And this is #UncommonByNature: having the courage to challenge your own expectations, adapt to unexpected turns, and discover that your purpose can remain exactly the same even when your path changes completely. Pharmacovigilance may not be the most talked-about field in medicine, but it is essential. Most people will never see the work we do behind the scenes. Yet every case reviewed, every signal assessed, every risk understood, and every action taken have the same purpose: patient safety. World Patient Safety Day was a good reminder of that. For those of us working in pharmacovigilance, though, patient safety is not only a campaign or a date on the calendar. It is what we do every day and our way of caring for patients, even if we never meet them face to face. Working at Almirall has strengthened my conviction that real impact starts with a strong sense of purpose. By keeping patients at the heart of everything we do, we share a commitment that makes our work significant every day. Looking back, I no longer regret that my career did not follow the route I had planned. It taught me that there is more than one way to make a difference, and that meaning is not defined by a particular role, setting, or career path. I suspect many of us have similar stories. Stories of careers that didn't go exactly as planned, of unexpected turns that ultimately led us to where we were meant to be. And if you're considering a different route, joining a new company, or stepping into a role you never imagined for yourself, do not be afraid of the unexpected. Sometimes the opportunities that seem furthest from the plan are the ones that feel most meaningful in the end. If this speaks to you, Almirall could be the right fit #CareersAtAlmirall.
