Most 7-figure founders are stuck because they're working on the wrong layer. Growth isn't a list of tactics. It's a stack. And the layers go in order. Layer 1: Market. Are you in the right game? I meet brilliant operators playing in shrinking markets. Pick the right arena and everything else looks smarter. Layer 2: Product. Is it worth selling at scale? Not "can I sell it" but "can I sell it 10,000 times without me?" Those two get you to six figures. Layer 3: Money. Not revenue. Cash. Do you get paid upfront? Is the margin high enough to reinvest? Can you afford your own growth? Layer 4: Positioning. Are you in a sea of sameness, or do you have a mini monopoly? This one is the hardest and the most important. Those two take you from seven to eight figures. Layer 5: Reach. An unfair advantage for acquiring customers. Layer 6: Convert. Can you turn attention into revenue at scale? Your website, your sales team, your funnel. Layer 7: Expand. New channels. New geographies. New personas. Here's the trap. Founders at $2M jump to layer 5 and 6. More ads. More reach. Better funnel. But if the money model leaks and the positioning is forgettable, reach just scales the problem. You pay more to acquire customers into a business that can't fund the next round of growth. I did this at our own brand. We tried to scale ads before we fixed the offer and the cash cycle. It cost us a summer of inventory and a lot of margin. So the question isn't "what tactic should I try next?" It's "which layer am I skipping?" I walk through all seven and how to grade your business on each in the full video >>> https://lnkd.in/exxaU3rQ

Tagesaktuelles, Januar-Angles, so was.

Northbeam has tracked spend across 300+ ad/marketing channels this year alone. I pulled year over year spend growth for H1 2026 vs H1 2025 and filtered to emerging platforms (under $100M in tracked spend) to see where brands are actually shifting budget. Here's what the data shows: 📺 Vibe.co: +1,900% ✉️ PostPilot: +502% 🤝 impact.com: +149% 👻 Snapchat for Business: +91% 📡 MNTN: +29% 📬 LiveIntent, a Zeta Global Company: +25% A few things stand out to me: CTV is the clear winner. Vibe and MNTN both growing while brands hunt for scale outside of Meta. Affiliate is quietly having a moment. Impact nearly 2.5x'd YoY. And Snapchat might be the sleeper. Fewer brands are spending there, but the ones that stayed are spending a lot more.... Check it out 👇

The growth marketing job in 2026 looks very different from just a year ago. 😎 The growth stack tells part of the story. 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲: • SEO research in Semrush, Ahrefs and Moz. • Outbound in Outreach and Salesloft. • Paid ads mostly on Meta and Google. • CMS in WordPress, Prismic and Contentful. • Reporting in Excel, Looker and Tableau. • Automation in Zapier. 𝗡𝗼𝘄: • SEO and AEO across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, with AirOps powering execution. • Multichannel outbound in Instantly.ai, lemlist and HeyReach. • More paid channels, from LinkedIn and Reddit to connected TV through Vibe.co. • Websites built with Webflow, Framer and Vercel, with agents connected through MCP. • Attribution and analytics in HockeyStack, Fibbler and PostHog. • Workflows connected through Clay, n8n and AirOps. But the bigger shift is how much one person can build. A Monday morning idea can become a live experiment that afternoon. • Research a market. • Build and enrich a contact list. • Ship a dynamic landing page. • Create personalized ads. • Launch, measure and iterate. Work that used to require several handoffs can now happen in one workflow or through an agent. I’m figuring out what this looks like at AirOps. Connecting AEO strategy to execution. Building workflows and agents. Learning as much as I’m shipping. The tools make execution faster. They also put more of the decisions on you. Who is audience? What is pain point? Which offer? Where to reach them? What’s worth scaling? Being great at a channel still matters. The edge is connecting research, data, context, creative, distribution and measurement into a system that works. Build the growth engine. Then make it faster, leaner and more defensible. Which tool has changed how you work the most?

A PMax campaign with no feed often buys Search clicks cheaper than a classic Search campaign does. That result surprised me the first time and it has held up since. No-feed PMax is my favourite campaign type and the one nobody asks me about. Where it goes in: a promo like 30% off everything. Shopping is already covered by campaigns that run, are settled, and do their job. There is no reason to disturb them. Dropping promo creatives into an established Shopping PMax is not much better, because there is a real chance they never serve at all. So you build without a feed. One asset group, promo creatives, scaled into every channel except Shopping. In countries with no Shopping this is not a choice. Every PMax there is a no-feed PMax by default. Two experiments worth your time: ➡️ No-feed PMax against Demand Gen, measured on conversion value. Every channel except Search matters there. ➡️ No-feed PMax against a classic Search campaign, measured on incrementality and on the ordinary metrics. Search terms are visible in the Google Ads interface now, so you can read what the second one actually bought instead of guessing. Both need the campaign kept out of Shopping to stay readable. Then you verify the channel mix, except here the goal flips. Here you want as much Search as you can get. Look at free PMax Script plus a PDF with the six cases where it saved or made real money on client accounts: https://lnkd.in/diNSkSKx

Most companies still measure thought leadership as a marketing vanity project, focusing on the metrics that get marketing and PR written off as a cost centre: article counts, downloads and clicks. That's what makes Workato decision to hire its first dedicated thought leadership employee and align them with sales rather than comms really stand out. Every PR has had that conversation with a CEO who sees marketing spend as overhead, but PR is 100% about value creation. Alex Lamascus from Workato summed it up perfectly when he said: "The primary value of content is not only gaining attention. It's building business infrastructure." Too many B2B companies churn out thought leadership that's really just repackaged trends and safe statements. It's content designed not to offend anyone, with no point of differentiation, which means it doesn't give buyers much reason to think differently either. The brands that win are the ones willing to say something meaningful and thought-provoking, that actually helps a buyer make a decision because it's rooted in expertise rather than marketing polish. Hard Numbers 📈Cyber Trust: The Next Growth Frontier found that 95% of organisations don't fully trust their cybersecurity vendors and in this high-stakes sector, trust is no longer just a brand metric; it's a procurement challenge. Buyers are sceptical, risk-conscious and largely immune to marketing fluff. To address this, thought leadership needs to be viewed as something that helps build trust throughout the buying process, rather than a cost centre measured solely by content outputs. Find the full report in the comments and drop me a message to see how we can help your brand build trust.

How do you respond when a cyberattack becomes a push notification? Yesterday, ASOS customers woke up to a chilling message: ASOS HACKED. Hackers had reportedly gained access to the company's notification infrastructure and used it to send an extortion message directly to customers phones. There are lessons to be learned from both the breach itself and the response. As Joe Tidy reported, ASOS did not respond to media enquiries for more than five hours, instead prioritising communications with the stock exchange. In that time vacuum, speculation filled the gap, giving attackers the opportunity to shape the narrative. This is exactly what we highlight in our Hard Numbers 📈Cyber Trust Report. In a cyber incident, the technical breach is only half the story. The other half is trust, and that part is entirely in the organisation’s control. When organisations don't communicate, others do it for them. Social media accelerates fear, misinformation spreads and customers begin to question whether leadership is present or even aware of what’s happening. There's an important contrast with the M&S response to its recent breach: M&S moved quickly to acknowledge the incident, explain the actions being taken, and reassure customers, helping to stay ahead of the narrative rather than reacting to it. In doing so, they protected the trust they’ve built over decades. Cyber incidents are often viewed as technical events, but for customers they're trust events. Acknowledging what's happened and explaining how the situation is being managed can be just as important as containing the attack itself. Transparent communication is not a “nice to have” in a crisis, but a core component of cyber resilience. The companies that understand this will recover faster, retain customer confidence, and emerge stronger. The ones that don’t will find that the real damage isn’t caused by the breach itself, but by the silence that follows.

An AI agent can now make 900 ads a week and localise them. Who in the market is checking them? Runway, the AI video company, launched Runway Ads this week. Their announcement is here: https://lnkd.in/grDc5ug3 The agent makes variations of an ad, swaps the on-screen text, screenshots, and voiceover for each market, publishes them, and reads the results back. Runway says its own team went from 77 ads a week to about 900 using it. To be fair, the controls are better than most ad hoc local work. You can set brand voice rules and terms that must never be translated. Human approval is on by default. But two things bother me. Swapping text and voiceover is translation. It is not adaptation. Nobody has asked whether the idea works in that market. And approval can be switched off, campaign by campaign. At 900 ads a week, approval will be switched off. No team reviews that volume properly in 12 languages. I have no evidence the output is bad. The numbers are Runway's own, about its own marketing. There are no customer results yet. My worry is simpler. International marketing debt builds when work goes out unchecked. This makes unchecked work very cheap. If you are piloting tools like this, who signs off in each market?

Proud moment incoming! Penny Warnock is speaking at Spotlight by Semrush on Tuesday. Big stage. Big deal. Big nerves. A little over 2 years ago when Penny came in, she was so scared she couldn't even look me in the eye ( 😜 ). Now there's going to be hundreds of people looking at her while she speaks about the quality of content! And this is what I admire most about Penny: how hard she fights for the quality of the work. She asks the awkward questions. She pushes for the better idea. And she never forgets there’s a real person reading the thing at the end. She’s also never been short of opinions on 'good' marketing. And never been short on the urge of sharing those opinions. So giving her a whole stage feels like a very sensible call. Her talk is called Proof of Care. It’s about protecting human judgement and creativity when you’re producing content at scale (spoiler alert: with AI). If you work anywhere near content right now, that’s the question. Can’t think of anyone better to take it on. If you’re at Spotlight, go and watch her do her thing!!

A year ago we took a bet on the Netherlands. Now we're putting down roots. 🌱 It's been quite a ride. Since we stepped into the Dutch market, we've teamed up with some amazing Dutch clients. Dutch breweries, a hyper-growing Dutch challenger bank, Amsterdam-based EMEA headquarters of global brands, but also small local cultural NGOs across the Randstad, and many others... So it feels like the right moment to start building a local team, and I couldn't be happier about who's kicking it off. Please welcome Ed Borsboom, Behavio's new Effectiveness Lead for Benelux. 👏🏻 Ed is a well-known insight leader who has spent years digging into the topics we love most. He knows how creative brings sales back, how behavioral science and fast thinking shape what people buy, and why distinctive brand assets matter so much. We first met last year when he moderated my session at NIMA Marketing Day, and we clicked right away. From now on, Ed will look after our expertise, thought leadership and consulting in Benelux. If you're a marketer in the Netherlands, he's the person to talk to. You can meet him at our webinar in a few weeks. We'll walk you through the practical, evidence-based playbooks we built for social media ads, which UK marketers have already loved. Ed will add the Dutch angle, with local ads and local context you won't find anywhere else. Join us, bring your questions, and get to know Ed. ⛓️💥 https://lnkd.in/dFSrCfF5

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗸𝘁𝘂𝗿 𝗳ü𝗿 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴? 𝗭𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼-𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱-𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗸𝘁𝘂𝗿? 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗼-𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼 𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀? Micro-Frontend bedeutet also nicht weniger Governance.
