So, here’s my take on it! 👇 These terms are often used interchangeably, but they play distinct roles in EV charging and infrastructure operations. Most companies don’t fail at AI because they chose the wrong technology. They fail because they started with technology. They ask: Which LLM? Which Copilot? Which Agent? Which platform? Then comes the question: “Now that we have AI, where can we use it?” I believe that’s backwards. AI transformation should not start with AI. It should start with business value. 1. Start with Value Pools, not AI use cases. Before asking what AI can do, ask: Where do we make or lose money? Where are decisions too slow? Where are customers dropping off? Where is working capital trapped? Most importantly: If we improve this by 10%, does it materially change the P&L? The process consuming the most hours is not necessarily the one creating the most value. Saving 5,000 administrative hours may help, but improving pricing, conversion, inventory, yield, or time-to-market by a few percentage points may be worth 10x more. 2. Don’t just analyze work. Analyze decisions. Companies are not simply collections of tasks. They are collections of decisions. What should we quote? How much inventory should we hold? Which supplier represents the greatest risk? Which CapEx should we approve? Some of AI’s greatest value won’t come from replacing work, but from improving the quality and speed of decisions. 3. Don’t automate the old process. Redesign it. If ten people are passing spreadsheets, checking information and requesting approvals, adding AI while keeping the same workflow is just faster bureaucracy. Ask instead: If we built this company today, with AI available from Day 1, would we design the process the same way? Some steps should be automated. Some approvals should disappear. AI should execute routine work, while humans increasingly focus on judgment and exceptions. 4. AI is only as scalable as the data underneath it. Broken master data, disconnected systems, unclear ownership and poor data lineage will eventually limit AI at scale. AI doesn’t fix bad data. At scale, it amplifies it. But don’t spend three years building a “perfect data platform” either. Build the data foundation around the business value you are trying to unlock. 5. Deployment is not the finish line. P&L impact is. A successful PoC is not success. 95% model accuracy is not success. Even enterprise-wide deployment is not success. If behavior doesn’t change and business outcomes don’t move, the value is still zero. Every major AI initiative should connect: Business Owner → Baseline → Target → Adoption → Business Outcome → P&L Impact The sequence matters: Value → Decisions → Process → Data → AI → Adoption → P&L Tools will change. Models will change. The enduring capability is knowing where value exists, what should be redesigned, which decisions should improve, and where AI can fundamentally change how the company operates. One of the coolest automated tasks I do with AI is to ask it to analyse my previous work week and suggest improvements. It runs every Tuesday, and its only job is to tell me where I got in my own way last week. It reads my calendar, my Slack messages and my Jira tickets, and answers four questions: - Did my protected calendar block survive, and did my one deep commitment this quarter actually move? - Where did I answer something the person could have found themselves in five minutes? - What new meetings, tickets or threads attached themselves to me? - What is the one thing I should stop doing next week? The instruction I gave it was ‘briefly and without flattery’. That matters more than I expected - the first version was encouraging and… pretty much useless. I built this because it's easy to become a routing layer - the person who answers the question, does the deploy, types the reminder. A lot of that work can be standardised or moved elsewhere. Knowing it hasn't been enough to change it, because each rescue takes four minutes and feels like helping. So now something checks once a week, without me needing to remember to be honest with myself. If you built the same thing, what would you have it watch for?

🇮🇹 ⚡ The MASE publishes valuable data on environmental assessment procedures (VIA/SEA/PAUR) for renewable projects in Italy. The data shows, for each individual project, at what point the authorization process is: screening, scoping, under evaluation (EIA) or already authorized (EIA Decree) - as well as a separate level for archived or inadmissible projects. For those developing solar, agrivoltaic, wind or storage projects, this is an important signal. The MASE is the only open Italian source that also indicates the proponent of each project: it is not the Terna SpA /E-Distribuzione connection queue, but the environmental authorization pipeline, complementary to that. Each point reads: - proposer - Technology - Power (MW) - status and dates of the proceedings - link to the complete project file The location is the punctual coordinate of the site or the centroid of the cadastral parcel, read by the SIA where available (~42% of cases), otherwise the municipal centroid. Knowing the authorization stage of a project, and not just its location, helps to better understand the real competition in a territory and the realistic development times. Sharing a thought that might annoy part of the carbon market: Most carbon credits don’t actually remove carbon from the atmosphere. They only avoid emissions. A forest stays standing. A power plant doesn’t get built. These are worthwhile outcomes, but avoiding an emission and removing CO₂ that is already in the atmosphere are two different things. The carbon market has not always been clear about that distinction. Take forest protection. Protecting forests is hugely important. But it isn’t carbon removal. And if the underlying demand for timber remains, there is a risk that some of that pressure simply moves somewhere else. Removal makes a different promise: carbon was in the atmosphere, and now it isn’t. In our case, that happens when farmers change the way they farm — growing cover crops instead of leaving soil bare, reducing tillage, improving rotations and gradually building carbon back into the soil. And then comes the less glamorous part: measuring it, taking soil samples, modelling, auditing and verifying the results before credits can be issued. We deliberately built eAgronom’s Carbon Program around removals. It’s slower. It’s harder. It costs more to produce. But it’s the claim we’re comfortable putting our name behind. Here’s what it looks like - a diverse mix of cover crops putting carbon back in the ground, where it belongs.

Delay is also an energy strategy. Usually, an expensive one. Businesses scrutinize the cost of investment, but rarely calculate the cost of postponing it. That cost does not appear as a separate line in the accounts. It is absorbed into recurring electricity bills, tighter margins and continued exposure to energy prices. The case for photovoltaics should never be generic. It depends on the organisation’s consumption profile, available space, tariffs and self-consumption potential. But waiting without evaluating these factors is not financial caution. It is unmanaged exposure. Put the cost of delay beside the cost of investment. The difference may change the decision. This is what carbon credits are meant to do. Soil is one of the world’s biggest stores of carbon. But when soil degrades, some of that carbon is lost back to the atmosphere as CO₂. In January, eAgronom issued its first soil carbon credits under Verra’s VM0042 methodology. Before joining the program, these fields were on average losing 0.2 tCO₂e per hectare each year. After joining, they were adding 0.8 tCO₂e per hectare back to the soil. The change came from things like cover crops, less tillage and better crop rotations. But these changes cost money. Farming is a low-margin business. It is hard to invest today for benefits that may come years later. Carbon credits change that. They make restoring soil profitable for farmers. That is what a company buying a soil carbon credit is really paying for. So how much would it cost to move Europe’s arable soils from losing carbon to storing it? I did a simple back-of-the-envelope calculation. The answer surprised me. Je ziet dat de overheid anders is gaan subsidiëren. Voor batterijopslag kom je vooral in aanmerking als je er tegelijk nieuwe laadinfrastructuur bij aanlegt. Samen moet dat minimaal 25.000 euro subsidie opleveren. Ook zijn er voorwaardes aan verbonden dat de kWh die je uit die batterij ontlaadt, moet minimaal 70 procent aantoonbaar naar je laadstations zijn gegaan. Je ziet dat laadpalen en batterijen niet meer een op zichzelf staande oplossing zijn. Energieoplossingen worden steeds meer aan elkaar verbonden en geintegreerd. Geen dozen schuiven, maar goed kijken naar de hele energiehuishouding en behoefte van een klant. Meestal loopt regelgeving achter op de markt. Hier loopt hij mee. #EVCompany

Parempi kaukolämmön jäähtymä on tehokkaan energiankäytön merkki - ja yhä useammin myös pienemmän lämmityslaskun takuu. Jo vuosia säästäminen lämmityslaskussa on tarkoittanut lähinnä lyhyempiä suihkuja tai kylmempiä sisälämpötiloja. Nyt kaukolämmön paluulämpötilan laskemiseen, eli tehokkaampaan energiankäyttöön kannustava hinnoittelu yleistyy. Siksi uudet teknologiat, kuten HögforsGST:n patentoitu väliottokytkentä, mahdollistavat merkittävät säästöt asumismukavuudesta tinkimättä. Otetaan käytännön esimerkki Helenin uudesta 1.7.2026 voimaan tulleesta hinnoittelumallista, jossa paluulämpötila vaikuttaa taloyhtiön perusmaksuun. 🏢 Esimerkki: 40 asunnon kerrostalo (käyttöteho 161 kW) 🌡️ Kiinteistö parantaa perusmaksun perusteena olevaa paluulämpötilaansa 45 asteesta 38 asteeseen, eli yhteensä 7 astetta, 💰 Perinteisellä hinnoittelumallilla säästöä ei tästä työstä olisi ennen syntynyt. Uudistuneella hinnoittelumallilla taloyhtiö säästää 1980 euroa vuodessa (sis. alv). Maltillinen investointi ja nopea takaisinmaksuaika ovat osoitus siitä, että älykäs lämmönjakokeskus todella on helpoin mahdollinen energiaremontti. Kolejny audyt zewnętrzny Zakładowej Kontroli Produkcji (ZKP) za nami. I tym razem zakończył się wynikiem pozytywnym, ale dzisiaj nie o tym. Każde spotkanie z jednostką notyfikowaną (jak to dumnie brzmi!) przypomina mi jedną ważną rzecz: nie ma dwóch takich samych audytów, ponieważ nie ma dwóch takich samych audytorów. Nie czarujmy się: to nie zawsze są łatwe spotkania. Czasem bywa sztywno, innym razem dyskusje robią się gorące, a dociekliwość audytorów potrafi świętego wyprowadzić z równowagi. Z drugiej strony za każdym razem przychodzi ekspert ze swoją własną „supermocą” - obszarem, w którym czuje się najpewniej. Jeden prześwietli dokumentację spawalniczą i certyfikaty do ostatniego przecinka, inny rozłoży na części pierwsze identyfikowalność wyrobu, a jeszcze inny skupi się na projektowaniu czy wzorcowaniu przyrządów. Kiedy uda się przejść przez ten wymagający etap, audyt przestaje być sztywnym „odhaczaniem punktów z listy”, a może stać się partnerską wymianą wiedzy i doświadczenia. Przyznaję się bez bicia: jestem certyfikacyjnym geekiem. Takich świrów nie ma zbyt wielu, więc na co dzień trudno znaleźć kogoś, z kim można przez godzinę z pasją debatować o interpretacji konkretnego punktu normy czy rozporządzenia. Dlatego cieszy mnie każdy audytor z którym można wymienić swoje poglądy. Zyskują na tym obie strony. Trafne pytania i realna dyskusja wyłapują rzeczy, które w codziennej rutynie potrafią umknąć, i przynoszą usprawnienia, które faktycznie pomagają w pracy. Synergia w czystej postaci. CSRD-adjacent reporting requirements are reshaping what procurement sign-off on energy looks like in 2026, and finance teams must adapt their strategies. Twee bedrijven kopen dezelfde DC-snellader van 150 kW. De één krijgt 12.200 euro subsidie, de ander 24.400 euro. Dat verschil zit in de mkb-verklaring. Val je onder de mkb-definitie en lever je die verklaring mee bij je aanvraag, dan verdubbelen de bedragen in de SPRILA-tabel gewoon. Dus die lever je mee, of je laat de helft liggen. Zo simpel is het in dit geval wel. Eén ding kan het nog afkappen en dat is het staatssteunplafond. Voor mkb ligt dat op 40% van de subsidiabele kosten, voor grote bedrijven op 20%. Kom je daarboven, dan verlaagt RVO het bedrag automatisch. Benieuwd wat er in jouw situatie uitkomt? Stuur me even een bericht, dan reken ik het met je door.

« Le point de vue macro ne va pas tellement les intéresser. » Pour notre dernier échange avec le sociologue Arnaud Zegierman, co-fondateur de l’institut Viavoice, c’est cette phrase que je retiens pour évoquer la prise de décision locale. Pourquoi ? Parce que l’on s’imagine trop souvent convaincre en parlant d’enjeux généraux, trop souvent génériques. Pourtant, un changement se joue là où l'on vit et où l'on travaille. Pour embarquer, il faut des arguments qui sont dans le quotidien de chacun : les emplois, les temps de trajets, la population qui évolue, l’économie locale… C'est ainsi qu’une transformation devient comprise, nécessaire et souhaitée. Quand on agit au contact direct des territoires, on apprend chaque jour cette humilité. Une décision n'a de portée qu'une fois traduite localement, au plus près des réalités des habitants. Depuis hier au Congrès HLM, tout le monde vient nous poser des questions sur l'électrification des chaufferies ! Depuis que nous avons annoncé cette nouvelle solution, les bailleurs qui arrivent sur notre stand ont tous les mêmes questions : "Je suis en train de renégocier mon contrat gaz, et là, je sens que ça va piquer 🔥, je cherche à réduire le coût de l'énergie pour mes locataires, combien de chaufferies de mon parc sont électrisables ? Qu’est-ce que ça changerait pour mes locataires ?" Voici ce que nous leur répondons : Sur le périmètre : sur le parc que nous connaissons, environ 80 % des chaufferies sont électrisables. Sur les résultats : 40 à 60 % du gaz remplacé par de l'électricité décarbonée, soit 200 à 400 kg de CO2 évités par logement et par an. Pour les locataires, rien ne change dans l'usage : même eau chaude, mêmes heures, même confort. Et en termes d'économie : 40 à 80 € par logement et par an. Senior engineering attention is becoming one of the scarcer resources in data center operations. Hiring matters, of course. But adding people does not instantly reproduce years of site-specific knowledge. A recurring cooling issue is a good example. The organization may have solved something very similar before, yet the next investigation can still start with someone hunting through trends, reconstructing operating conditions and trying to understand why the previous team reached its conclusion. As portfolios grow, I think operators should look at engineering capacity more broadly: not only how many qualified people they have, but how effectively the knowledge already inside the organization can be applied again.
