A rough draft and a certified transcript can say two different things about the exact same testimony. Not because anyone made a mistake. Because one of them isn't finished yet. Remote depositions and same-day prep have made speed the priority. Counsel want the testimony immediately, forward it to an expert, brief co-counsel, sometimes quote a page-and-line reference before the certified version even exists. Here's the problem. A rough draft hasn't been proofread. It hasn't been certified. Wording, punctuation, speaker identification, even pagination can all still shift before the reporter finishes the final review. We haven't seen this blow up into a real dispute for our clients. That's not luck. It's because we label every rough draft clearly and explain the limitations before anyone hits order, not after something goes wrong. The dividing line is simple. Rough drafts are for internal prep. Certified transcripts are for anything that gets filed, cited, or quoted. In the article, I break down: When a rough draft actually makes sense (and when it doesn't) The most common misuse pattern we see across firms How DLE labels and restricts every rough draft we produce The one assumption about "the reporter will fix it later" that gets teams into trouble If your team orders rough drafts regularly, this one's worth the read. For 15 years, DLE Legal has powered South Florida's top litigators with white-glove, tech-enabled litigation support. From documented turnaround tiers to transcript formats built for how your team actually works, we help attorneys keep control of their deadlines instead of chasing them. Learn more at dlelegal.com Copy for the article "Standard turnaround" will always be fast enough. That belief is quietly costing law firms more than they realize. Here's what we see on our end: fewer than 1 in 10 bookings come in with a stated deadline. Most just say "standard," or nothing at all. The transcript order often doesn't even happen until after the deposition is already done. So the transcript follows the vendor's normal production schedule. Not your deadline. Not because anyone dropped the ball. Because nobody said the words out loud. Then two days before mediation, someone asks where it is. We wrote about why this keeps happening, and the one five minute habit at booking that prevents it entirely. It covers: The difference between "rush available" and a documented rush tier Why rough drafts get treated as final (and why that's risky) What Rule 30(e)'s review window means for your timeline The one sentence that changes everything at booking If your team has ever had a "standard" order turn into a Tuesday panic, this one's for you.

Inflation quietly eats your margins, one unchanged price at a time. You feel it when profit per deal starts slipping, but no one can quite explain why. Costs have gone up, but your prices haven’t. And it’s not because you don’t know the numbers. It’s because price reviews never feel urgent, until it’s too late. Every month you delay is another month of working harder for less. A structured pricing strategy makes sure prices keep pace with costs and value. If you know your prices haven’t moved in a while, let’s chat. We help leadership teams turn pricing into the biggest growth lever. Get in touch here → https://lnkd.in/eXTf6qni
- Untapped PricingRecorded 15 Sept 2026
Terrified by next year’s targets? Let’s look at your pricing. When goals jump and margins tighten, most leadership teams focus on volume. Generating more customers, with more activity and more urgency feels like the best way to close the gap. But there's a faster way to get there AND build longer-term sustainability into your business....and that's how you price. If your prices haven’t moved, but your costs, competitors and customer expectations have, you’re carrying risk into the new year without realising it. Those gaps compound quickly, showing up as tighter margins and slower growth. Pricing is one of the most efficient levers you have. A small, evidence-led adjustment can create more profit than months of chasing incremental revenue. It strengthens confidence, protects value and gives your targets a fighting chance. When teams bring pricing into the conversation, everything changes. The path to hitting the numbers becomes clearer, the pressure eases and decisions get sharper. As a result, growth stops feeling like a grind and starts feeling achievable again. If next year’s targets look intimidating, you don’t need more volume. You need pricing that works as hard as your business does. If this resonates, I’d love to chat. We help leadership teams turn pricing into their most reliable lever for growth and margin. One Private Equity KPI is Multiple on Invested Capital (MOIC). Let’s consider the relationship between MOIC and the CEO. PE firms invest in both the company and its leader. When it comes to performance, perception and reality are not always aligned. CEO changes are common. This creates a negative relation between performance and CEO changes. (Or as I suggested in my last post, cultural or personality conflict). The table below shows the relationship between CEO and MOIC. Deals with no CEO changes perform very well with an average (median) MOIC of 2.85 (2.80). This exceeds the performance of deals with CEO changes by 0.43 which is economically large although not statistically significant. Deals that bring in an external CEO more than two years after the initial investment make money with an average MOIC of 2.15 and a median MOIC of 2.30. Deal with CEO changes in the first year are particularly successful. And the deals that bring in an external CEO in the first year are the most successful. These deals have an average (median) MOIC of 3.09 (2.72). The average is 0.65 greater than deals that do not bring in an external CEO initially. And this difference is statistically significant at the10% level. This data suggests that private equity investors are able to recognize and hire high quality external CEOs. #pe #privateequity #talent

The most misused term at #INTA this year is "AI native." Its use as a marketing gimmick means this industry is walking into a tsunami without a sandbag. Several companies in our space, trademark search, were on the floor this week advertising end-to-end AI native capabilities. Technology built pre-2019, still reliant on human analysts in the background. In some cases, it’s the sales team assembling the reports. That’s not end-to-end AI native. It’s an unethical rebrand of old tech as a Hail Mary. Across the industry: no AI background in the C-suite, limited technical depth in the few that have it, maybe one or two people in a headcount of hundreds who’ve actually built anything with AI. And yet, AI native everywhere you look. You can’t entirely blame them. Most aren’t plugged into the real AI ecosystem. They’re legacy operaters, without the technical advisory needed to assess AI opportunities and talent. And underneath that is a tension: adopting AI in a meaningful way often requires rethinking roles, maybe their own. Here’s what’s already happening: General Legal (YC26), founded by veterans of Cooley LLP, Fenwick & West, and Thomson Reuters’ CoCounsel team, is an AI-native law firm delivering work at a fraction of traditional cost/ turnaround - see screenshot. Moritz has supported 100+ companies closing deals representing more than $2B in value, with a four-hour avg turnaround. Manifest OS has 100 lawyers now operating in an AI-native environment. 3,000 clients served. Faster response times, better outcomes. This is not LegalZoom. This is 'Big Law' partners with decades of reputation, backed by Kleiner Perkins, Menlo Ventures, First Round Capital, building firms where AI does most of the work. If you think this isn’t coming for trademarks and patents, you are going to get caught with your pants down. Full trademark search, matching today’s gold-standard human output, will need to be instant and cheap. Renewals and docketing will require little to no human involvement. Applications will be self-drafted by clients through an AI agent at intake. This is already happening in adjacent practice areas. IP is next. OpenAI and Anthropic announced this week they are moving into enterprise software, with engineering teams going directly to the world’s largest companies to build internally. Traditional IP software will be displaced. In IP, these systems require high-fidelity, AI-ready data. Haloo’s sister company Pinakel AI is exactly that. To the private equity firms writing nine-figure checks for last-gen software: look hard at the leadership of what you’re buying. You cannot be paying EBITDA multiples on companies where nobody in the C-suite has real depth in AI. You are acquiring customers today. Those customers are about to face the biggest shift of their professional lives. Haloo is running a webinar series on what AI native actually means in IP. If you’re a law firm, software vendor, investor in this space, you’ll want to be there.

Innovation begins with curiosity. Its impact depends on what we do next. Some scientific discoveries change the course of medicine. But turning a discovery into a product that reaches millions of people requires much more than science alone. It requires years of research, collaboration, investment, perseverance and a framework that enables innovation to move forward. The story of the hepatitis B vaccine is one of those remarkable journeys, not only because it involves a Nobel Prize. In recognition of World Hepatitis Day, I wrote this article reflecting on the scientific breakthrough that made the vaccine possible, the role intellectual property played in bringing it to patients worldwide, and why these lessons remain just as relevant today. I hope you find it interesting. #WorldHepatitisDay #HepatitisB #Vaccines #Patents #IntellectualProperty

- Welk gedrag zien we anders? - Hoe weten we dat? - Welk organisatiedoel kwam dichterbij? I’ve always believed in the power of listening to patients. But lately, I’ve been asking: Are we listening to the right things? Are we listening to enough? The industry has relied on satisfaction surveys for years, but they only scratch the surface. Some of the biggest pain points such as billing, scheduling, and digital access fall outside what most health systems measure. And if we’re not capturing those moments, we’re missing the signals that shape trust, loyalty, and outcomes. This is why I believe we need to evolve how we approach the patient experience. It’s not just about collecting feedback. It’s about building systems that help us understand what matters most to patients and employees and act on it quickly. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that what we choose to measure, and what we overlook can make all the difference in how patients experience care. And when they feel heard and valued, they’re more likely to follow treatment plans, attend follow-ups, and stay loyal to their health system. That’s not just good care, it’s good business. More than ever, the future of healthcare belongs to organizations that look beyond traditional satisfaction metrics and embrace comprehensive experience management. We often say the patient journey starts with care, but in reality, it starts much earlier. It begins when someone searches for a provider, tries to schedule an appointment, or navigates a digital front door that may not speak their language. These moments are often overlooked, yet they shape whether a patient even makes it through the door. Language access, scheduling friction, and digital barriers aren’t just operational issues, they’re experience blockers. And when we don’t address them, we lose trust before care even begins. Health systems are assessing, unifying, and modifying language access leveraging new technology to address pain points, improving patient safety, satisfaction, and improving health outcomes. They’re using multilingual technology, real-time feedback, and inclusive design to meet patients where they are and remove barriers before they become delays. 👉 Read the full Cortico-X article: https://lnkd.in/eFi5wmm5 Let’s keep pushing for access that feels like care. #PatientAccess #HealthcareExperience #MultilingualCare #CorticoX

I’m incredibly proud of the Curvestone AI team for bootstrapping the business to profitability with our initial pioneering customers in financial services, legal and insurance. Now, with this funding, we’re going to go even faster. As AI capability improves, some firms are about to see 10x, even 100x, gains in their core workflows and when that happens, the gap between “talking about AI” and actually deploying it will become very obvious.
