Be honest, how many of you are wearing this when changing Gas Compression thermal blankets? I can tell you from my experience, it’s extremely rare. In many cases, this level of PPE is what’s required to protect maintenance crews from Cr(VI) exposure and the associated cancer risk. Without the right precautions, contaminated thermal blankets can expose crews through inhalation, skin and eye contact. And honestly, given the choice, I wouldn’t want to wear this level of PPE either. That’s why eliminating the risk at the source is so important. Don’t accept the risk. Eliminate it. Aletek Gas Compression Thermal Blankets are different. Unlike other thermal blankets, they are Cr(VI)-safe and do not create unsafe levels of Cr(VI). I know which option I’d prefer any day. How common is this level of PPE when thermal blankets are replaced on your site? #CrVI #GasCompression #OilAndGas #WorkerSafety #ThermalBlankets

For years the guided-wave industry competed on a single number, the distance you could screen from one position. I have seen vendors claim 20 metres. One claimed 100. At those distances the resolution is far too low to read wall thickness, and a lot of inspection teams found that out the hard way, which is exactly why confidence in the method dropped. We built the A1050 Ranger around the opposite idea. Its working range is about 3 metres, and we state that on purpose. You fit it around a pipe or a pole, it runs a 360° circumferential scan, and the B-scan shows you where corrosion sits and roughly how bad it is. The real value is reaching the spots you cannot inspect any other way, such as under pipe supports, under insulation, or below a pole's ground line. The Ranger will not give you remaining wall thickness, and I will not pretend otherwise. It points you to the corroded area, and you confirm and size that area afterwards with classical high-resolution UT. The two methods work together rather than one replacing the other. Check it out on the product page: https://lnkd.in/eNF_qi5F If you run corrosion inspections, send this to a colleague who has been burned by long-range promises before.

Corrosion under pipe supports causes a large share of leaks in process piping, and it sits in one of the hardest places to inspect. It builds at the contact point between the pipe and its support, where water and dirt collect and stay. Inspecting it the conventional way usually means lifting the pipe off its support, so you add scaffolding, permits and downtime before you even take a reading. The A1050 Ranger reaches that spot without lifting the pipe. You fit it around the pipe next to the support and it runs a 360° circumferential scan with dry-point-contact transducers and no couplant. The resulting B-scan shows where corrosion has concentrated around and under the support. It handles corrosion under insulation in the same way, on lines you would otherwise have to strip just to look. The scanner covers cylindrical steel from 70 to 380 mm in diameter. It locates the corroded zones and leaves the sizing to your high-resolution UT afterwards. Request your one-page technical sheet on the scan modes, the diameter range and typical pipe applications. Comment the word RANGER below and I will send it across.

A Fortune 500 client today told us after a 4 ft. flood in their facility, every anti-fatigue mat was destroyed except their AcroMats. Here's why.👇 ➡️Extruded / Open Cell Most mats on the market today are extruded using PVC foam or a blend of PVC foam, nitrile and other products. Extruding rubber is the easiest and least expensive approach and why so many providers sell extruded mats. However, to extrude rubber, you need to add a percentage of PVC foam, which makes the construction “open cell” – i.e., prone to absorbing liquids and chemicals, bloating, cracking, etc. ➡️Molded / Close Cell Our clients are manufacturing companies. Wet, oily, chemical-filled facilities. For mats to hold up in these facilities for longer than 6-12 months, they need to be made differently. Our mats are molded from closed cell nitrile rubber foam with no component of PVC foam. This translates to 100% imperviousness to liquids–including water from a flood. As a result, when the flood happened, all open cell mats soaked up the water and became useless. The AcroMats got wet but were unaffected. ➡️What to Look For If you have a wet/oily environment, here are a few action items. 1. Look for closed cell over open cell mats 2. Look for molded over extruded mats 3. Look for warranty protections 4. Ask for product tests and results 5. Get a sample and do your own tests, like below.

Most people walk through a factory and look at the machines. I look at the gaps between them. After decades in industrial logistics, that's where I've learned the real story lives, in how material moves, where it waits, and what actually happens when something goes wrong. I was reminded of this recently watching the ground operation at an airport. Dozens of teams, vehicles and systems working in perfect coordination. Invisible to every passenger. Right up until a delay makes it suddenly, painfully visible and the airport is crowded. Factories work the same way. The equipment gets the attention. The flow between the equipment gets inherited, patched and quietly worked around until it can't be anymore. The best logistics systems are the ones nobody has to think about. What's the biggest hidden bottleneck you've seen in a factory or operation?
- Solving OySince 31 Aug 2026
Different countries. Different industries. Surprisingly similar challenges. After 36 years working with industrial customers, I can often predict which topics will come up before a meeting even starts. It's usually one of these: - Finding skilled people - Improving safety - Increasing capacity - Making operations more predictable The products to be handled may vary completely, but the operational challenges rarely do. What surprises many companies is that their challenges aren't as unique as they think. Some of the best solutions I've seen come from borrowing ideas across industries. A fix that worked in food & beverage might be exactly what a logistics operation needs. The products, loads, and environments are different, the underlying problem often isn't. After all these years, this is the lesson I keep coming back to: Don't focus too much on what makes your project different. Focus on what can be learned from projects that came before it. That's one reason I still enjoy walking factory floors after all this time. There's always something new to learn, especially when you look beyond your own industry.

Italdesign has just received EN 9100:2018 certification for the aerospace, space and defence sectors, issued by Bureau Veritas. It's a formal recognition of work we've been doing for some time, now verified against the same standard used across the aerospace supply chain, at our sites in Moncalieri and Nichelino. What matters most to me is the principle behind it: we asked an independent body to assess our processes, rather than describing our own quality ourselves. That distinction, being checked rather than self-declared, is worth more than the certificate itself. Thanks to Giulio Toesca, Barbara Crivello and all the Italdesign team that made this possible, across engineering, quality and operations. I’m very proud of all of you! #Aerospace #EN9100 #Italdesign

Without software, a vehicle doesn't move. Without hardware, a vehicle doesn't exist. These are the words I used, last Monday, to describe, to the many journalists who joined us at the press conference here in Moncalieri, where we walked through the details of UST ‘s acquisition of a majority stake in Italdesign, what this partnership is really about. On one side, Italdesign's long history: almost 60 years of legendary projects that have, in many ways, become part of all your lives, and a vertically integrated approach that has defined us since the day we were founded, spanning design, engineering and production. On the other, UST's ability to build software and artificial intelligence systems capable of transforming how companies work, creating speed, value and purpose. In our historic field, automotive, the synergies are the easiest to see and understand. But common ground exists just as much in our newer areas of expansion, aerospace, robotics, and across the wider world of innovation in which we have worked successfully for decades. Both Krishna Sudheendra, UST's CEO, whom I thank for choosing to meet the entire Italdesign team in person, and I know one thing: no visionary project holds up without talented, motivated and determined people behind it. That is the real center of this partnership: the mutual trust our teams have already begun building from day one, and the ability to bring together vision and excellence to widen the horizons ahead, for Italdesign and for UST alike. To our people, my thanks, for everything achieved so far and for all the major projects that will come to light in the months ahead. Italdesign's new chapter has already begun. This is where the future of software-defined mobility, robotics, aerospace and beyond is being built.

Last week, we brought our global team together in Lisse for the internal launch of VibSys, our next-generation vibration monitoring system. Product launches are often associated with technology. In reality, they are about alignment. Before bringing a new solution to the market, everyone in the organization needs to understand not only what it does, but why it exists, which challenges it addresses, and how it creates and delivers value to customers. Throughout the week, the teams behind VibSys and Sphere shared their experience, vision and lessons learned. At the same time, colleagues from across the organization challenged assumptions, asked questions and explored what the system will mean in practice. A successful launch is not achieved when a product is ready. It is achieved when an organization is ready. After last week, I am confident we are ready for the next phase: delivering VibSys to our customers and shipping the first pre-orders. #KnowledgeSharing #TeamDevelopment #VibrationMonitoring #IndustrialReliability

Machines are more digitally connected than ever. This creates great opportunities for remote monitoring, faster diagnostics, and better coordination between engineering and maintenance. But connecting alone does not improve reliability, and it also raises an important question: does connectivity preserve control, or gradually transfer it to a supplier? A monitoring system may perform well today, but machinery remains in operation for many years. During its lifetime, software platforms will change, security requirements will develop, and new analysis methods will become available. A connected monitoring architecture should therefore preserve choice. Organizations should be able to determine where information is processed, who can access it, and which systems it connects to. Open interfaces and standard protocols are not merely technical preferences. They help organizations retain control over their infrastructure and adapt without replacing everything around the machine. Connectivity should create freedom instead of dependency. The goal is to build an environment in which technologies can evolve while reliability responsibilities remain clear. We explore this issue further in our bookazine Vibration, with practical articles on vibration monitoring, machine protection, and maintenance strategy: https://lnkd.in/eA48HZ-C #MachineReliability #ConditionMonitoring #Connectivity #VibrationMonitoring

One of our customers was facing an environmental audit from the institution of Tübingen. They needed to prove compliance with regulations, and they were able to do it by pressing a button in our solution. Our projects usually run 3-6 months. During that time, customers prepare for something most teams dread: an environmental audit. The kind that determines whether they stay compliant or face bigger problems. The customer wrote after their audit in Tübingen: "We passed the audit - and we got all we needed at the press of a button using your solution." They could walk the regulators step by step through the process. Full visibility, zero stress. And that’s not the only feedback we’ve received. Our customers around the globe have had the same experience: “We had the information at hand and could deliver on the spot.” The real value shows up on audit day. That’s when pressing a single button turns months of worry into one line of proof: "We passed." So when you ask yourself, “How do we know it will work?”, ask for the proof - speak to IPOINT.

Understanding Maturity Assessment using the example of PCF or LCA verification. At iPoint, we use a framework of 11 key perspectives to assess an organization's readiness for LCA automation. One way to better understand this is by looking at how we evaluate maturity levels — from Level 1 (no experience) to Level 5 (fully systematic and verified). Today we are looking at the mid-range maturity level, level 3. Let’s take the example of Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) verification. Level 3 represents a company that already has first-hand experience with PCF verification—perhaps for one or a few products. More importantly, the company shows a solid understanding of documentation and data handling requirements. This structure allows us to evaluate where an organization stands: Level 1: No experience, no clear understanding of requirements. Level 3: First verifications completed, with a growing grasp of what’s needed. Level 5: Systematic documentation, embedded standards, and an infrastructure that enables smooth and fast verification. 💡 Why does this matter? Because the better the internal documentation, the smoother the certification process becomes. Verifiers can move more efficiently when data flows are transparent and aligned with the rulebooks. In contrast, unclear documentation and buried code slow everything down. 👉 Well-prepared organizations don’t just pass verification—they accelerate it. PCF verification is used as an example to illustrate how maturity levels for LCA or PCF automation can be assessed. How are you getting started into the journey towards PCF and LCA automation? Which role plays getting prepared for PCF verification in your organization? #LCA #PCF #Sustainability #Verification #CarbonFootprint #DigitalProductPassport #Automation

For godt og vel 10 år siden, begyndte bl.a.

I was chatting with one of our clients the other day, and—surprise surprise—the age-old debate came up: screw compressors vs. piston compressors. Classic. Now, I’m not an expert on this (and I don’t pretend to be), but I’ve heard enough of these conversations to know the answer is never as simple as picking a winner. Let’s talk piston compressors first. Powerful. Reliable. They’ve been the go-to for heavy-duty applications for years—especially in industries where power is the top priority. But then screw compressors enter the scene... and things get interesting. 👉 They’re quieter. 👉 They’re more compact—often matching the performance of bulkier piston units 👉 And some claim they’re more energy-efficient... I’ll leave that one open. The data’s still rolling in. Here’s what is clear: The market’s shifting. More and more industries are leaning towards screw compressors—not necessarily because they’re "better" in the absolute sense, but because they’re more in tune with what is needed. Like any good engineering decision, this one deserves though and the right tool for the job.

Feeler gauges or test bench? Feeler gauges can be useful — if you’re tuning your kid’s bike. But when you’re working with a twin-screw rotor spinning at 8,000 rpm inside a high-efficiency compressor, precision matters. A small variation can have a big impact. That’s why we measure backlash on a test bench during production. Not una tantum. Every. Single. Time. Here’s our process: 🔹 We test a male master rotor against every female in the batch. 🔹 Then we reverse the setup — female master, tested with every male. It’s a thorough method. Not always the most common, but essential when consistency and accuracy are the goal — and for us, they are.
