Keep the nacelle where it belongs, we bring the machining to the turbine. The wind fleet across Europe is aging. Spare parts for older models are getting harder to find, and the classic repair chain - crane, component removal, transport, factory repair - gets pricey and sometimes impossible. Why haul the component to a workshop when we can bring the workshop to the turbine? At CNC Onsite we repair critical parts right in the nacelle: - Yaw‑ring teeth - Yaw‑ring sliding surfaces - Rotor locks - Shafts - Bolts and threads …and more. All up‑tower, no cranes, no hot work. The result? Much lower repair costs, far less downtime and improved HSE. I’ll be talking about this and more with existing and new customers at WindEnergy Hamburg this September. Hamburg is a key meeting point for the wind industry, and we’d love to see you. Find us at the Danish Pavilion, Stand B1.EG.508. CNC Onsite is listed as its own exhibitor in the directory, so we're easy to find. Drop by, leave a comment, or send me an e-mail and we'll set up a meeting. See you soon.

The turbine doesn't care where you repair the component. But the location of the repair can have a huge impact. Portable machining has been used in heavy industry for decades. What is interesting in wind is how far we can take that concept: - Can we repair damaged yaw ring teeth, shafts, or similar critical components without removing the nacelle? - Can we restore damaged blade root inserts without sending the blade back to the manufacturer? - Can we machine large flanges directly at the wind farm? These are not simply questions about machining. They are questions about how much of a repair really needs to happen in a workshop - and how much of the work can be brought to the turbine or the wind farm instead. At CNC Onsite, we specialize in mobile precision machining, bringing the machining capability to the component instead of moving the component to a workshop. We've applied this approach to yaw rings, shafts, blade roots, flanges and other critical components, with solutions designed around the very different conditions found in and around wind turbines. And I think this is an interesting direction for wind O&M as turbines age and lifetime extension becomes increasingly important. Maybe the question isn't where a component can be repaired. Maybe it's why we still assume the component has to leave the turbine to be repaired at all. I'll be at WindEnergy Hamburg from 22 to 25 September with CNC Onsite in the Danish Pavilion, B1:EG:508. If you're working with wind turbine maintenance, repair or lifetime extension, come by and let's talk about where onsite machining can make a difference. See you in Hamburg.

Why I believe marine reliability is becoming more complex 🌊 For decades, marine reliability was largely about maintaining proven machinery. Engineers could draw on years of operational experience and well-established maintenance practices. Today, the picture looks different. Alternative fuels are entering the fleet. Crew sizes continue to shrink. Operators are expected to keep vessels available for longer while extending maintenance intervals and reducing operating costs. Individually, none of these trends is revolutionary. Together, they fundamentally change what reliability means. The question is no longer simply whether equipment can operate reliably. It's whether it can continue to perform under changing conditions, with fewer people and fewer opportunities for intervention. As shipping continues to evolve, I believe reliability will increasingly depend on understanding equipment condition and identifying developing issues before they impact operations. Prevention is becoming more important than repair. What reliability challenges are you seeing as the industry transitions to new fuels and operating models? If you're attending SMM Hamburg, I'll be at the C.C.JENSEN stand (Hall A1, Stand A1.535) on 1-2 September and would be delighted to meet and discuss the future of marine reliability.

I'm bringing a burger box to Foodexpo. That’s not the interesting part. The interesting part is this that there’s no plastic in it. This is an early pilot sample of a plastic-free burger box we’ve been experimenting with. Still very much work in progress, but a small preview of what we’re building. Turns out removing plastic from food packaging is easy to say… and much harder to actually do. If you’re exploring the same challenge, I’d genuinely love to hear what you’re trying to solve. 📍 MCH Messecenter Herning 📅 22-24 March 2026 📌 Stand M 9608 (The Industrial Corner) 👉 Claim your free ticket here: https://lnkd.in/dY_m9B3C 👋 See you at the fair!

What does it take to create a truly plastic-free product? Usually quite a bit of development and testing behind the scenes. Now we finally have something tangible to show: a mono-material, grease-resistant burger box pilot. If you’re at Foodexpo, come by, take a look and grab a sample. And if burger boxes aren’t exactly what you’re after, that’s fine - this plastic-free pilot is only the beginning. 📍 MCH Messecenter Herning 📅 22–24 March 2026 📌 Stand M 9608 (The Industrial Corner) 👉 Free entrance ticket here: https://lnkd.in/dZviVsXd 👋 See you at the fair.

One thing I find fascinating about batteries is how far they travel before they ever power anything, really. A raw material may be mined on one continent, refined on another, converted into a battery component elsewhere, assembled into a cell in yet another country, and finally integrated into a battery pack thousands of kilometers away. We rarely think about that journey. Yet every handover adds cost, lead time, and complexity. And complexity has a habit of showing up at the worst possible moment. If a shipment spends 40–50 days crossing oceans before it reaches a production site, every forecasting error, disruption, port delay, or geopolitical event becomes amplified. Sustainability is often discussed first. And rightly so: moving materials around the globe has a carbon footprint, and international shipping accounts for a meaningful share of global emissions. Sustainability is a topic close to my heart. But even if we set the environmental argument aside, localizing parts of the supply chain is also a very rational operational discussion. Shorter supply chains mean less inventory, faster feedback loops, quicker problem-solving, and greater visibility. In other words: more control. And in an industry where product quality is measured in microns, milliseconds, and millions of units, control matters. The obvious counterargument is cost. Global supply chains exist for a reason. They are often highly efficient and highly competitive. But that raises a question I find increasingly interesting: What is the value of resilience? What is the value of reducing a 40–50 day supply chain to a few days? What is the value of reacting quickly when demand changes? What is the value of knowing that critical materials, components, or processes remain accessible when trade conditions or geopolitical priorities shift? These benefits rarely show up clearly on a purchase order. Yet they become very visible when a shipment is delayed, an export restriction is introduced, or a dependency becomes a source of leverage. We have seen several reminders of this in recent years. Whether it is shipping disruptions, trade tensions, sanctions, export restrictions, or the uncertainty surrounding critical transport routes, events taking place thousands of kilometres away can quickly find their way into industrial supply chains, inventories, and ultimately production schedules. Global supply chains have enabled remarkable growth, specialization, and innovation across industries. The challenge is understanding the full picture when making sourcing decisions. Cost will always matter. But so do lead times, inventory levels, responsiveness, visibility, and the ability to adapt. The question is not whether global or local supply chains are better. Most industries will continue to rely on a mix of both. The real question is how to design supply chains that combine competitiveness with resilience. Because flexibility rarely looks valuable - until the day it becomes essential.

If I showed a battery cell to most people and asked what makes it work, the answers would probably involve chemistry. Lithium. Nickel. Cobalt. Silicon. Very few people would consider packaging and format as critical. And yet, packaging plays a surprisingly important role in battery performance and differentiation. Its job goes far beyond simply containing the cell. A battery package needs to provide protection from moisture and oxygen, mechanical stability, sealing integrity, electrical insulation, long-term durability throughout the cell lifetime. Different cell formats solve this challenge in different ways. A cylindrical cell relies on a metal can. A prismatic cell uses a rigid housing. A pouch cell takes a completely different approach with a lightweight flexible laminate structure. Each format comes with advantages and trade-offs: >> Tesla is known for its use of cylindrical cells. They are robust, highly standardized, and benefit from decades of manufacturing know-how. >> Many large battery manufacturers, including CATL and BYD, have built significant parts of their portfolio around prismatic cells, which make very efficient use of space and can reduce the number of cells needed in a battery pack. >> Pouch cells take yet another approach. Their flexible architecture allows battery designers a high degree of freedom when optimizing weight, shape, and energy density. That's one of the reasons why pouch cells are often discussed in the context of next-generation battery concepts, including various solid-state developments. Of course, every advantage comes with its own engineering challenge. The same flexibility that makes pouch cells attractive can also make them more sensitive to swelling and mechanical stresses, placing greater demands on the surrounding materials and packaging design. What I find fascinating is that many discussions around batteries focus on what happens inside the cell. But some of the most interesting engineering challenges happen around it. Because regardless of the chemistry, every cell ultimately depends on something much less visible: a package that protects it, contains it, and keeps working throughout its lifetime. #BatteryIndustry #PouchCells #BatteryEngineering #BatteryMaterials #Electrification PS: Visual generated with AI.

Everything starts with comparison. Understanding the changes and differences between two drawings is the first step, and the one that defines the success of everything that follows. However, the comparison process is almost always a balancing act between precision and speed. You want to work fast to maximize time-to-production, but you also need to work precisely to avoid costly mistakes that can lead to significant losses and recalls. That’s exactly where our Comparison tool comes in. It automatically highlights changes, discrepancies, and updates between versions, so you can instantly see what matters. It brings together precision and speed, giving you the best of both worlds: the confidence to move into production without costly errors, and the ability to maximize time-to-production while saving valuable engineering hours.

This fire truck didn’t tip because of bad driving… it was the water inside.🚨💧 When liquid sloshes inside a partially filled tank, it creates massive internal force, enough to throw off balance, damage equipment, and even flip heavy-duty vehicles. That’s the hidden danger of sloshing. Every turn, stop, or acceleration sends thousands of litres of water crashing against the tank walls. Over time, that movement stresses fittings, weakens welds, and can lead to catastrophic failures. 💡 The solution? Baffle Balls. Small, lightweight spheres that float inside your tank - breaking up wave motion and absorbing energy before it builds up. ⚙️ How they work: Each ball floats freely, moving with the liquid. When the water shifts, the balls bump into each other and the tank walls, breaking up the flow. This slows down wave formation and dissipates kinetic energy keeping the liquid stable, even during sudden stops or turns. 📏 How many do you need: You’ll need enough Baffle Balls to fill your tank completely. As a rule of thumb, that’s roughly one ball per every 9.5 USG of liquid capacity. For example: 1,000 USG tank → about 105 balls 5,000 USG tank → about 526 balls 👉 Pro Tip: After installation, take your truck for a short drive to let the baffle balls settle, then top up for full coverage. Always do a quick pre-trip check to make sure your tank is properly filled — it’s a small step that can prevent major damage. 📦 Now available from BARR Plastics, ideal for fire trucks, water haulers, and any mobile tank application. https://lnkd.in/gNat5wca 📩 [email protected] | 1-800-665-4499 #BARRPlastics #BaffleBalls #TankSafety #WaterHauling #FireTrucks #LiquidTransport #Sloshing #TransportSafety #EngineeringSolutions #EquipmentProtection #Hydrodynamics

#unternehmertum #wirtschaft #mittelstand
