"Hope" isn't a great data backup strategy for IT teams. Test... or risk losing it all.
- Consltek, Inc.Recorded 14 Sept 2026
You can’t protect what you can’t see... and that can spell IT disaster for your org. One of our clients was shelling out serious money every month for backups. But no one was testing recovery. So when a real disaster hit? They couldn’t recover 40% of their critical machines. All because they didn't test their recovery plan. It's simple: Untested = Unusable Tools without testing = Burnt budget Just because you have a vendor for data backup does not mean you have a recovery plan to get your ops running after a major crisis. Tech alone doesn’t save you. Testing does.

No one tells you this, but “always available” is not a scalable strategy. We like to believe effort solves most problems. That if someone cares enough, they will be present, responsive, and available. But availability is not a moral trait. It is a constraint. If your business depends on perfect human availability, it’s already fragile. Usually, small and medium businesses run on people, not layers of process. When the office closes, it closes. When staff go home, they disconnect, because they have to. Yet customers don’t pause their questions to respect business hours. Someone calls at 2 a.m. because they are anxious and need clarity before the morning. Someone calls early because they are trying to make a decision before work. Someone calls in a language the team doesn’t speak fluently. We often treat this as a staffing problem. Hire someone for nights. Hire someone multilingual. Hire backups so nothing is missed. But at some point, the question shifts. Should we really be designing businesses that require humans to be endlessly available, or should we design systems that acknowledge human limits? That question stayed with me for a long time. Long before we thought about products or platforms. Loro was built inside this exact tension. Not to replace people, but to remove the expectation that people must always be present for a business to function well. We built it so conversations could continue intelligently even when humans couldn’t show up, without pretending that round-the-clock availability is normal or sustainable. For small and medium-sized businesses, this isn’t about technology optimism. It’s about respecting human boundaries while still being dependable. Once you start designing with that principle in mind, a lot of things change. Visit LoroAI here https://lnkd.in/ebhM3enP

Cold calling is unfashionable, apparently. It’s framed as outdated, intrusive, or something that only works if you’re desperate. Most founders would rather talk about inbound funnels and brand-led growth than admit that a real conversation still moves decisions forward. But when you actually sell to small and medium-sized businesses, the story changes. A small law firm doesn’t discover new tools through beautifully nurtured email sequences. A dental clinic doesn’t book time because of a viral LinkedIn post. Decisions often start because someone picked up the phone, listened, and created clarity. Last year, our team lived inside this reality. Thousands of conversations later, one thing became obvious. Cold calling wasn’t the problem. The way we tried to scale it was. Every call depended on human energy, timing, and memory. Follow-ups slipped. Context got lost. Effort didn’t compound. That’s the tension that led us to build Loro. Not because cold calling stopped working, but because it worked well enough to expose its limits. We needed a way for voice to scale without asking people to perform at superhuman levels every day. Cold calling may be unfashionable. But when done thoughtfully and supported by the right systems, it’s still one of the most honest ways to understand a market. The most valuable thing we added to our AI roadmap this year wasn't a new model. It was a better way to say yes. At LSports, AI costs behave like our traffic. A World Cup weekend and a quiet Tuesday are different planets. Add model choice, context length, and pricing that shifts faster than any roadmap, and forecasting an AI initiative starts to feel like guessing. LSports is fully bootstrapped. Economics isn't a gate we added for AI; it's how we've always thought and worked. Every idea earns its place, and that discipline is an advantage. But discipline needs data, and AI's numbers kept moving. When the economics of an idea were unclear, the responsible answer was "not yet." And "not yet" has a cost of its own. What changed was bringing cost expertise into the room before we commit, not after. Lior Harazi, our CSM at CloudZone, and Vera Barzman ☁️ from their FinOps team work with us day to day, close enough to understand our decisions from the inside. Together we built a framework that shows the cost of an AI decision before it turns into an invoice. Now the discipline runs at full speed. Engineers see the economics upfront, so the conversation starts at "is this worth building?" with the numbers already on the table. More ideas get a fair look. Fewer stall waiting for clarity. If you're building your 2027 budget right now, this is the lesson I'm taking from 2026: AI cost management belongs in the product and architecture conversation, while there's still time to shape the decision. Not in the invoice review after. AI economics will keep moving, and no forecast will hold for long. That's fine. At LSports we price uncertainty for a living. It was time we applied that to our own roadmap. Thank you, Lior Harazi and Vera Barzman ☁️, for turning discipline into speed.

#cloudity #claude #salesforce

Seven years ago, Cloud Context was just me, a laptop, and a few great clients. Last month, we moved into a bigger office - and we’re growing the team again. What started as a one-man band has turned into something I’m really proud of. We’ve now worked with over 200 organisations across NSW, from councils and schools to construction and healthcare. And we’ve built a team that genuinely cares about doing IT differently - no cookie-cutter solutions, no BS, just solid support. This new office is a big step forward for us. More room to grow. More room to collaborate. And more room for the people joining us next. If you’re curious about what we’re up to, or if you’re looking for an IT partner who actually picks up the phone, I’d love to chat.

That’s the average cost of IT downtime for small to mid-sized businesses. And while many teams assume that is “an enterprise problem,” we see the same issues happen on construction sites and in manufacturing facilities: - File servers crash mid-submittal - Blueprints don’t sync between field and office - Estimators waste hours waiting on slow machines IT does not need to completely fail to cost you. Lag means lost time. Confusion means lost margin. Delay means lost trust. More South Florida-based teams are investing in reliable, preventative IT systems that support daily work and eliminate friction before it slows everything down. There's a question we get a lot at Candybox. This one: "If we already have a solid internal team, why would we need a fractional RevOps or Salesforce consultant?" Totally fair question. But this review? This is why. Even amazing teams can get stuck in the weeds - reacting, firefighting, spinning their wheels. Bringing in someone like Brent helped them level up to a "pro-active, scalable and automated" machine. Fractional services are not about replacing the team - they're about unlocking their full potential. Thank you both to Brent for the great work you do, and our wonderful customer for the review!

If you've ever been a team of one in RevOps, you know: The pressure to ship fast is real, but so are the scars from shortcuts. Emily McGrath put it perfectly on RevOps Bites: Short-term fixes can feel necessary, especially when you’re a team of one. But without documentation, communication, and a little pushback when it matters, those "temporary| fixes end up becoming the permanent solution everyone relies on. And that's when things break. The balance between speed now and scalability later is tricky, but it all comes down to trust. When your teams know you're not just saying "not now" to block them, but to protect them from bigger headaches down the road, they listen. This was one of my favourite moments from the conversation with Emily.

Microsoft introduceert segmentatie in Viva Engage.

If I was responsible for Salesforce and I had to find an implementation partner that would get me results and that would be great to work with, here is what I’d look for: After 20 yrs of Salesforce project experience, I wouldn't just look for the partner with the most developers or certifications. I would look for the partner who refuses to start with a blank sheet of paper. You will find a great partner in a company that can confidently ticks these five boxes: 👉 They can reliably help with aligning your team around the value case, not start with everyone’s wishlist. Most projects fail because they focus on features rather than the desired outcome. I would look for a partner who helps clarify the 'why' first. They should provide a sharp summary of expected results to get internal decision-makers aligned and work backwards before they start checking off all the requested features. 👉 They bring the blueprint. I don't have the time to pay someone to start from a blank sheet of paper every project. The right partner brings industry-specific templates and proven knowledge. It will speed up the project and let’s me focus my energy only on the customization that actually makes my company unique. 👉 They design before they execute. "Agile" shouldn't mean "making it up as we go." I'd look for a partner who uses customer journeys and process visualizations to put the dot on the horizon and work backwards to a clearly defined roadmap. That is the only way to ensure the system supports people and customers, not the other way around. 👉 They take the pain out of testing. Testing is usually where teams drown. I like a partner who does the heavy lifting here. They should handle the bulk of the technical testing, not throw stuff over the fence after the build. They make User Acceptance Testing (UAT) intuitive so my team isn't filling out Excel sheets all day. 👉 They make training stick. A one-off classroom session is forgotten in a week. The right partner provides task-based video tutorials that my team can watch on-demand. This prevents my key users from being overwhelmed by questions and ensures knowledge actually lasts. Starting a new Salesforce project can feel overwhelming. The right partner means you are not just hiring extra hands that you have to manage yourself. If you feel you constantly need to think through the solution yourself and bring that to your partner (or admin) for build, you have got the wrong partner. A great partner co-owns the result, does the heavy lifting and brings peace of mind. What do you look for in a partner?

If I was responsible for data quality in Salesforce, here is what I would do. Poor data quality and adoption doesn't occur because people are lazy; it occurs for a number of well known reasons. Gartner has estimated that the average organization, loses or misses out on $12.9 million annually due to poor data quality. McKinsey has found that data quality issues account for 20% decrease in productivity. I typically see the following reasons for data quality issues: ⭕ Natural decay or ‘silent’ degradation. Because data is not static but it describes a world that is constantly changing (job changes, rebrands, company closures). Dun and Bradstreet have estimated decay by 2 to 3% per month, resulting in 30% inaccuracy within the first year of Salesforce usage. ⭕ Errors at data entry, the man made cause of poor data quality. MIT has estimated that 47% of newly created records contain at least one critical error that impacts downstream processes. The lack of common definitions feeds into this issue. ⭕ Data duplication. A typical way of getting data from point A to point B. If not managed correctly, it will create a fragmented truth that leads to data slowly getting out of synch. ⭕ Technical drift. As companies make updates to systems and data models the underlying data suffers as not all consequences were accounted for and addressed. ⭕ Ownership and accountability. Typically nobody is really 'responsible'. Harvard Business review found that only 3% of companies data meets basic data quality standards. The most common reason this is that data is treated as a ‘project’ rather than a continuous process. If I wanted to fix this permanently, I wouldn't touch Salesforce first. I would do this instead: 👉 Fix the definitions and process first. You need to design and lock down the definitions and data flows first. If the process and your Salesforce environment doesn't force consistency in the right areas, your data will never be of high quality. 👉 Fix the future AND the foundation. New process rules only stop new bad data. To trust the system, you must transform the legacy mess. There are plenty of ways to clean, structure, and enrich the historical base data. Set it up in a repeatable way, so you are not back at square 1 in a few months’ time. 👉 Fix the dashboards and training of users Only when the definitions are clear and the historical data is clean, do you fix the dashboards and retrain your users. 👉 Fix ownership and treat it as a continuous process. Although assigning ownership is easy, having the right technical expertise and data skills in place can be a challenge. Finding a good partner that can help the internal owner makes a massive difference as well. In short: You do not need to accept bad data quality as something unavoidable. If you follow above steps, you can trust your data, actually use it for decision making and keep your users happy. How do you address your data quality issues?
