The nozzle may be a small part of the equipment, but it can have a major impact on the result. In high-pressure cleaning, the right nozzle choice affects how the job is performed, how efficient the setup is, and how well the solution matches the application at hand. It is worth taking a closer look before the job starts. In my experience, that small conversation upfront can save a lot of back and forth later. If you need input on nozzle choice for a customer case, send me a message here on LinkedIn.

How my docotoral journey began Six months ago, my doctoral thesis was finally published. I needed some distance first. Time to realise that this chapter was really finished and to put it away for a while. Now I’m ready to share its contents and findings. I also want to share some of the journey behind it, because pursuing a doctorate alongside my professional role was not always easy. Working between Munich and Tokyo for many years has given me first hand experience of how communication and relationship building differ across cultures. This experience shaped my research. Germany and Japan are both highly advanced manufacturing economies. What I wanted to understand was how decision makers build and sustain trust across a growing variety of communication channels. 💡 Which communication channels do decision makers and next generation professionals in German and Japanese SMEs actually use when buying machine tools or automation solutions, and why? 💡 What makes them trust one channel over another, and how do cultural and generational differences influence this? 💡 How do we maintain human connection as industrial communication becomes increasingly digital? For my research, I spoke with decision makers in Germany and Japan and also with the next generation who will make these decisions in the future. The findings confirmed something I had experienced throughout my professional life: industrial communication remains fundamentally shaped by human interaction, even as digitisation advances. I want to share this knowledge because these questions are relevant for our industry and I believe many companies are asking similar questions today. So this is the start of a series. Over the coming weeks, I will share some of the findings of my research and some reflections of my journey.

We aren’t just cutting chain; we’re protecting your project schedule.⏱️ Cutting mooring chain under tension is one of the most demanding scopes in subsea operations. When chains are suspended, heavily loaded, and there is zero tolerance for dropped objects, conventional cutting methods simply weren’t designed for the job. A Decom Engineering Chopsaw is. Our C1-10 and C1-16UL Chopsaws are purpose-built for high-tension mooring chain severance. Designed and engineered specifically for the harsh realities beneath floating structures, riser turret moorings, and deepwater environments. We’ve successfully delivered across critical applications: 🔗 FPSO decommissioning: safe, efficient severance to enable removal. 🔗 Floating structure disconnection: cutting suspended chains on live assets. 🔗 Post-installation tail chain removal: eliminating excess loops after hook-up. The Decom Engineering Advantage: ⏱️ Vessel Time Savings - up to 3 x faster than diamond wire, reducing vessel days and keeping your campaign on schedule & budget. 🎯 Zero Dropped Objects - integrated link retention ensures every cut section is fully controlled throughout the operation & recovered safely. 🚀 Built for Tension - engineered specifically for high-load suspended chain, delivering consistent, repeatable results. 🌎 Globally Proven - trusted across Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, and beyond. In subsea operations, vessel day rate is often the single biggest cost driver. When you’re on the critical path, you can’t afford a method that might work, you need certainty. We own the critical path, so you can save vessel time. Watch the video below to see our equipment in action across recent global projects. Today is a big day for our team. I'm excited to share that we've raised $19M in Series A led by blisce/. We're also introducing a new brand, one that better reflects the future we're building. Since 2022, we've been focused on a simple but critical challenge: giving manufacturers a continuous understanding of what's happening on the shop floor. Too often, critical information is missing, disconnected, or impossible to act on in real time. Over the past few years, we've had the opportunity to work with industry leaders including Bosch, Siemens Energy, ABB, and Viessmann Climate Solutions. They've taught us a tremendous amount and strengthened our conviction that this problem is worth solving. This round was backed by NAP, Merantix Capital, Robin Capital, Underline Ventures and other investors. Most importantly, thank you to our team, customers, and investors who have helped us get here. This is an exciting milestone, but we're still just getting started.

Can You Spot the Integrity Breach? Below are two high-resolution images of the same PCBA region, labeled A and B. At first glance they look identical, yet one of them contains an integrity issue. For the hardware and security experts: • Can you identify where (by RefDes) the change occurred? • What risk do you associate with this type of modification from a hardware-security or product-assurance perspective? In complex global supply chains, even small undetected deviations can compromise product trust. This raises a broader question for all of us in manufacturing and electronics: How can we automatically and effectively assure the integrity of every assembled board, and know with certainty which components were actually used in each product? I’d love to hear your thoughts - how do you think this challenge can be solved at scale? For those of you who want to speak in person, let’s scheudle a time to meet at productronica. Can You Spot the Integrity Breach - Take 2 I promised to raise the stakes - and here it is. Below are two high-resolution images of the same PCBA region, labeled A and B. At first glance, they look identical - yet one of them contains integrity issues. Just like in the previous challenge, I’m calling on hardware and security experts: • Can you identify where (by RefDes) the change occurred? • What risk do you associate with this type of modification from a hardware security or product integrity perspective? We keep hearing stories about how even small, undetected deviations — like missing, added, or replaced components - can compromise product integrity and customer trust. This raises a broader question for all of us in manufacturing and electronics: If we can already automatically and effectively assure the integrity of every assembled board down to the component level - why not make use of this technology now? I’d love to hear your thoughts! For those of you who want to speak in person, let’s scheudle a time to meet at productronica.

Två kontroller missades i livsmedelsproduktionen.

THE ECHO OF VICTORY: Why the Process Matters After the Win When Shohei Ohno won a gold medal in Judo at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, he didn’t pump his fist. He didn’t smile. He simply bowed. To a world watching for a spectacle of joy, his silence felt strange. But in the world of Japanese martial arts, victory is not a celebration. It is a moment for reflection. This is why Kendo—the way of the sword—refuses to become an Olympic sport. In Kendo, if you celebrate after scoring a point, that point is revoked. Why? Because a "Way" (Do) isn't about the scoreboard. It’s about how you carry yourself throughout the entire journey. [ Zanshin: The Quality of the Process ] Central to this is the concept of Zanshin —the "lingering heart." Centuries ago, Zanshin was a survival skill. On the battlefield, the moment you thought you had won was the moment you were most likely to be killed. You had to stay focused, even after the strike. Today, Zanshin has evolved into an aesthetic of the "Echo." It’s the beauty of the resonance after a bell has rung. It means the work isn't finished when the result is achieved. It’s finished when the "afterglow" of your effort is clean and disciplined. [ The Danger of "Winner Takes All" ] I see a quiet version of Zanshin in our factory every day. Our craftspeople maintain their tools and tidy their workspace with a calm focus—even when no one is watching. In a modern business world obsessed with "Winner takes all" meritocracy, we often lose sight of this. We focus so much on the "Point" (the closing of a deal, the quarterly goal) that we forget the quality of the process that led us there. If we only value the win, we become reckless. We ignore the small, vital details that build long-term trust. Perhaps the real value of Zanshin in business is this: The quality of your work is revealed not by the victory itself, but by how you behave the moment after you’ve won. (I say all this with a straight face, but I must confess: I have zero "Zanshin" when it comes to my local baseball team, the Hokkaido Fighters. When they score, I’m the first one jumping up and down, doing fist pumps like a teenager. I still have a long way to go before reaching enlightenment.) In a "Winner takes all" culture, how do you protect the value of the process? Do you reward only the "Point," or do you look for the "Zanshin" in your team's work? #Zanshin #ProcessOverResult #JapanesePhilosophy #ModernLeadership #BudoSpirit #Workmanship #HokkaidoFighters #ShungoIjima

SUSHI USED TO TASTE BETTER Not because it was better. Because it was rare. Now you can eat it anytime. And I do. Usually at conveyor-belt places. Honestly, I think tourists know better sushi than I do. We got richer. At least, that’s what I used to believe. I once worked on tuna vessels. We were at sea for months. Everything smelled like fish. At some point, I stopped wanting to eat tuna at all. Even back then, the number of Japanese crew was already shrinking. We were outsourcing the hard part just to keep sushi cheap. It made sense. I still think it does. But somehow, I don’t remember the last sushi I ate. I used to eat it twice a year. Birthdays. New Year’s Eve. We didn’t go to fancy restaurants. It was usually delivery. I remember trading pieces with my sisters, or quietly taking the ones my parents didn’t eat. I remember both. Maybe nothing is wrong. Maybe this is exactly what we wanted. Or maybe this is just me, getting older and saying “things were better back then.” Still, it’s a strange trade. We got “anytime.” And I’m not sure what we gave up for it. #DesignAnthropology #ConsumerBehavior #JapaneseCulture #BusinessThinking

Kirjoitimme Comatec Group sivuilla aiheesta tarkemmin uudessa artikkelissa. Product launches don't start with a polished photo shoot. This is me in the factory with the first few SafeBins off the line....covered in dust, fresh from the mold, and exactly what we hoped for. (And yes, I’m in the awkward stage of growing my hair out.) It takes a few runs to break in a mold and dial in the details. But once it’s right, you know it. The SafeBin might not win awards, but it might save lives. Just last week, a hospital shared that, on two separate occasions in the past six months, firearms had been hidden in the trash. Both were only discovered because another patient found them. That’s the kind of problem we’re designing for. #FamilyOwned #MadeInUSA #PurposeDrivenFurniture

Ever notice how we all love having flowers in the kitchen? Or how our furniture feels more "at home" when it matches the environment? I'm thinking about sandy, clay colors in Arizona or coastal vibes in Florida. There’s something about bringing nature into our surroundings that makes us feel better. A recent study I came across, Vitality and Nature in Psychiatric Spaces, highlights the same idea: when nature is thoughtfully integrated, it can support recovery. But when it feels forced or disconnected, it misses the mark. This got me thinking about the power of good design. It's not just about making a space look nice, it's about creating environments that make people feel supported and at ease. The right design can help foster healing, not just function.
