Simulation tools is a game changer. With iC7-Marine and iC7-Hybrid, you can model drive behaviour, loads, and faults before installation. Instead of building first and correcting later, we can now design, test, and optimise virtually, and walk into commissioning with confidence. One of the biggest challenges I hear from my marine and electrification customers is: “We’re running out of space in the vessel, but we still need more capacity.” That’s exactly where the iC7-Marine drives and iC7-Hybrid power converters have been making a real difference in recent projects I’ve worked on. With liquid-cooled, compact modules, they free up as much as 40% space without compromising power or reliability. For vessels shifting towards electrification and hybrid propulsion, every centimetre matters below deck. Smart engineering isn’t just about performance anymore. It’s about footprint, cooling, integration, and long-term efficiency. I’m excited to see how more shipyards and owners will adopt this approach. What challenges are you facing in your projects? If you’re exploring hybrid or electric propulsion, happy to share what we’ve seen work in real applications.

Customers often ask me: “How resilient is your drive to cyberattacks?” With iC7-Marine and iC7-Hybrid, security starts in the hardware with embedded crypto & full encryption protecting the drive, the system, and your operations. When the drive is secure, the system becomes secure: https://bit.ly/3LM1Oxx

Finally, smaller power systems for smarter ships 🚢⚡ For nearly two decades in the maritime industry, I’ve had the privilege of working on countless tenders and unique vessel designs. One thing I’ve learned: the key to success is always a strong, multidisciplinary core team. Collaborating with mechanical engineers, naval architects, and vessel owners often brought up the same questions, sometimes phrased as a polite curiosity, sometimes as an annoyance: “Why are the main power grid and frequency converter systems still so big? We have tiny smartphones and ultra-flat TVs. Why not this?” It’s a fair question. Designing a vessel is like solving a massive puzzle: the hull defines the boundaries; structural integrity dictates the internal layout and then comes the maze of corridors and systems that must all work together seamlessly. In that design cocktail phase, my answer was always the same: “We can’t change physics. Operational needs translate into energy demand, and the electrical system is the backbone of power transfer. That takes space.” But today, after years of innovation, I can finally say: Yes, it can be smaller. Our new iC7 Marine and Hybrid portfolio reduces space requirements by up to 40%. This breakthrough opens up new possibilities for vessel layouts and can make a real difference during the design phase. Curious how this can transform your next vessel project? I’d love to show you the possibilities and discuss how we can make your designs more efficient and future-ready.
