𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗲𝗽. 𝟯 A screw rotor on its own does not compress anything. Compression starts when two rotors mesh and create closed volumes that move along the axis and gradually shrink. So what you are really designing is not a rotor. You are designing an interaction. And that interaction has to solve four things at once: 🔹 Create well-defined chambers 🔹 Keep them closed long enough 🔹 Trap the gas inside 🔹 Limit how much escapes along the way Each of these depends on specific geometric choices. 🔹 Wrap angle Controls how far the profile develops around the rotor. More wrap means the chamber stays closed longer, which directly affects how much compression actually happens before the port opens. 🔹 Contact line development This is where the two rotors meet along the meshing path. A well-developed contact line separates one chamber from the next, and keeps them isolated from each other during the process. 🔹 Displacement volume The theoretical volume is just a starting point. What matters is how much of it remains useful once leakage paths enter the picture. Geometry that looks good on paper can lose a significant portion of its effective volume in practice. 🔹 Flank manufacturability A profile that cannot be machined consistently will not behave like the one you designed. The gap between nominal geometry and real geometry is where performance quietly disappears. These are not independent parameters. They interact the same way the two rotors do. Good rotor geometry is about finding the combination that creates useful volume, keeps it sealed, and survives the transition from design to physical hardware.

Jasne dane. Przejrzysty proces.

We never built CSense to sell it. We built it because plants needed better tools and engineers needed something they could trust. When GE acquired us in 2011, I stayed. Years later I found myself leading the same division we had created. Today it is Harvinno Digital. Same mission. Same purpose. New chapter. 🎯 Why patience outlasts innovation Longevity as a mining supplier with a product is not glamorous. It means showing up when things are broken, not only when they are running. It means writing software that adapts to new process realities, not just current specs. It means working quietly for years inside a plant until your system becomes part of how people think. It means accepting that a great technical idea means nothing if it cannot be supported for ten years. 🎯 Legacy is when they still call your number At two of the world’s largest platinum mines, our system has run without interruption for over 20 years. In advanced process automation terms, that is almost unheard of. But it did not happen because of one big implementation. It happened because we kept tuning, supporting, listening and adapting, year after year. That is the part most people skip over. Stability is not an achievement. It is the outcome of thousands of small acts of care. 🎯 Hard truths If you want to build in this sector, start with a real pain point, not a vision deck. Stay long enough to be trusted, because a year means nothing here. Grow a backbone, because you will lose for reasons that have nothing to do with merit. And take ownership, because in mining you are remembered only if you were there when it counted. 🎯 Conclusion The real success is not in the software or system. It is in the fact that the same clients still call us decades later. That the system still runs. That trust outlives contracts. Progress in mining is not about reinventing yourself. It is about going deeper into the work that matters, until the industry accepts you as part of its own fabric.

In industrial work, the learning does not happen in a single project. It happens slowly across many. What begins as a technical job becomes something else over time. A shift in how the work is understood and what value to clients really looks like. 🔁 Every good idea still has to survive reality. In 2013, stepping into a new role at GE Intelligent Platforms, the brief was straightforward: roll out PID performance monitoring across sites. Build dashboards. Make the loops visible. Help clients optimise. What followed was a lesson in limits. Not of technology but of people’s time. Clients were under pressure. Teams were doing their best to keep plants running. Reports were read but rarely acted on. Insights were there but the gap between seeing and doing was real. It became clear that data does not drive change. People do. 🔁 What visibility never showed The early belief was simple. Give clients access to performance data and change would follow. Dashboards, reports, KPIs. Once the loops were visible, optimisation would happen. But it did not. So the work changed. Monitoring had to become more than a report. It became a service. Reviews were done daily. Issues were flagged. Actions were prioritised and followed through. Not once. Not twice. Until it sticks. 🔁 This was not a shift in software. It was a shift in responsibility. Control loop performance management is not something to bolt onto someone’s day job. It needs structure. Dedicated focus. A feedback loop that closes in practice, not just on paper. 🔁 Technology helps. People still carry the result. Technology has come a long way since then. GE’s software and others now offer closed loop tuning, predictive diagnostics and machine learning. At Harvinno, AI now plays a valuable role in surfacing deeper patterns and automating parts of the work. But the value still depends on people. The results do not come from the system. The success of systems, software and processes depends on the people who stay close enough long enough to make them work. 🔁 The part no one puts in a report. Over time, a different kind of understanding takes shape. Control is no longer seen only as tuning or automation but as something that depends on people. On knowing what matters. On following through. On staying close to the work when others have moved on. That is where real improvement happens. Not in the software but in the way people use it. The systems that perform best are not always the smartest. They are the ones someone has taken responsibility for.

People ask me what trim optimisation actually does, so here's the simplest way I can explain it. You've got a jumbo roll of material. Film, steel, paper, whatever. You need to cut it into the widths your customers have ordered. The question is: how do you arrange those cuts to waste as little material as possible? When you do it manually, you're evaluating a handful of options and picking the best one you can find in the time available. It works. But you're only ever seeing a fraction of the possible combinations. Trim optimisation software evaluates thousands, sometimes millions, of combinations in seconds. It finds the cutting pattern that wastes the least material, uses the fewest knife changes, and factors in stock levels, quality faults in the roll, and delivery deadlines. It's the same problem your planners are solving today. Just solved better, faster, and more consistently. So they can focus on other high-value tasks. Some numbers I keep coming back to: ➡️ Up to 4% of production capacity recovered through trim optimisation ➡️ 1.7 million tons of metal per year processed through Greycon optimisation ➡️ 150 million solar panels use film optimised via X-Trim These aren’t projections. They’re measured results from manufacturers who stopped accepting trim waste as a fixed cost. The savings are there. Most plants just haven't calculated what they're actually losing yet. 👉 Find out how trim optimisation can help you reduce trim waste by up to 4%: https://lnkd.in/dWjApT8Y

Niemand wil zitten op vieze banken. Toch?

Why getting your safety tape & signage NOW can save you thousands later 🚧 Most workplace accidents don’t happen because people aren’t trained—they happen because hazards aren’t clearly communicated. And the data backs that up. *Hazard communication violations (things like missing or unclear signage) are the #2 most cited OSHA violation, with over 2,500 citations in 2025 alone *OSHA inspections are happening at scale—over 34,000 inspections in a single year *Fines can reach $16,550 per violation, and up to $165,514 for willful or repeated violations Now here’s the part most people overlook: 👉 Many of these violations are 100% preventable with proper signage, labeling, and floor marking. Clear visual communication—like safety tape, hazard signs, and marked walkways—acts as a first line of defense. It helps workers instantly recognize danger zones, avoid risky areas, and respond faster in emergencies. In fact, poor hazard identification and communication are consistently linked to workplace injuries and OSHA citations, meaning a large portion of incidents can be reduced with better visibility and signage systems And when injuries do happen? * The average workplace injury costs employers $40,000+ in direct expenses alone Bottom line: Spending a little now on proper safety tape and compliant signage can help you: ✔ Reduce preventable accidents ✔ Stay OSHA compliant ✔ Avoid fines that can hit six figures ✔ Protect your team and your bottom line Because in safety, what you don’t mark… can cost you.

Offshore manufacturing shouldn’t feel like rolling the dice. It should feel like a controlled, transparent process. After 15+ years in this space, I’ve seen great products stall - not because the idea wasn’t strong, but because the risk of getting manufacturing wrong felt too high. That’s why we built GSS: the partner I’d want in my corner. We’re not sourcing agents. We’re an Australian engineering and project management team that works as an extension of your business. Our edge? We’ve got boots on the ground in Vietnam and China. Our team is constantly on the factory floor - managing production, checking quality, and keeping everything on track. No guesswork. No surprises. If you’ve ever thought about manufacturing offshore but weren’t sure where to start, my team can map out a free, no-obligation plan to show what it could look like for your business. Estruturas falam. E o time, para interpretar?

UNIFE | The European Rail Supply Industry Association On Wednesday at the UNIFE General Assembly in Brussels, I had the opportunity to discuss the future competitiveness of the European rail industry together with Jozef Síkela, representatives of the European Commission, and fellow industry leaders. The discussion highlighted a growing challenge for European manufacturers: competing against state-supported players from outside Europe. Fair competition, reciprocal market access, and effective implementation of the Foreign Subsidies Regulation are essential to maintaining a level playing field. As a European rail manufacturer with a strong presence beyond the EU, Škoda Group sees these challenges firsthand. We are proud to be one of the spearheads of European industry in Central Asia, bringing European technology, standards, and know-how to strategically important markets while competing globally every day. Europe’s rail sector is a strategic asset that drives innovation, sustainability, industrial sovereignty, and high-quality jobs. To remain competitive, procurement frameworks must reward long-term value, lifecycle performance, technological excellence, and resilience—not simply the lowest upfront price.
