Reuters confirms Anthropic has a wet lab — and Anthropic won't say what it's for. I wonder why... "Anthropic has set up a wet lab in the San Francisco Bay Area, a place to run physical biology experiments rather than simulate them. The company confirms it exists, yet it will not say what it is for, beyond ruling out the obvious answer, which is drug discovery." "Life sciences is now among Anthropic’s largest areas by headcount and spending, and it has been recruiting a procurement lead and a biochemical specialist." “We absolutely are doing that today, and I would describe our approach as being typical of what you would see in most biotech companies" "Reuters has linked part of the campaign to Dario Amodei personally since the disease killed his father before a cure was found." https://lnkd.in/gMk8vTQn https://lnkd.in/gvcdBrbe

A denied insurance claim is only a billing problem if you can afford to pay out of pocket. About a third of Americans struggle to cover an unexpected $400 expense, so for a lot of people, a denied claim is the difference between getting care and going without it. Wall Street veteran and founder of Your Rich BFF Media, Vivian Tu, invited me on her podcast, Networth and Chill, to break down the money side of claim denials: Why denials happen (hint: it's not usually a mistake) Which claims get denied the most, and why What to actually do in the first 30 days after a denial Why appealing wins more often than people think Most people don't know they have the right to fight back, so thank you, Vivian, for bringing this info to your listeners. Thanks to John Tozzi for making the trek to the tech capital of the world, Des Moines, Iowa 😂 - what Bloomberg Businessweek called "an unlikely launchpad for a startup taking on America's biggest insurers." We'll take it. John captured the heart of what we're building at Claimable, Inc. from all angles. The relentless patient advocacy that Warris Bokhari, MD leads, spanning nights and weekends, is literal lifesaving work. That work directly informs how we build and scale our commercial product, so we can help orders of magnitude more patients through our partnerships with pharma manufacturers, specialty pharmacies, health systems and many others. Huge shoutout to our investors who back this mission: Josh, David, Liz, and a crew that includes Mark Cuban, whose relentless pursuit to "f--- up healthcare" is something we're proud to be a part of. https://lnkd.in/gzswxS2K

This is every Claude Science customer's worst nightmare. A scientist fed Claude his unpublished research for three years. Then Anthropic announced it as Claude's discovery. Here's the case Mario Rodríguez Mestre is making. Last week, Anthropic said its AI agents took "the first steps of a biological discovery on its own." They found a new family of enzymes in jumbo phages and called them ARTs. Mestre, a computational biologist at the University of Copenhagen, says he's studied those same enzymes since 2022. His team calls them "jumbotrons." He's a co-inventor on a 2023 patent that covers them. "They are the same systems we have been studying for years." Then he lays out what he says he gave Claude along the way: His dissertation draft. Shared with Claude. His unpublished manuscript on jumbotrons. Shared with Claude. The key finding. Anthropic says Claude's main contribution was linking an array of RNA molecules to the enzyme. Mestre says his team made that connection more than a year ago and shared it with Claude. The supporting data. Anthropic's agents pulled a 2022 dataset showing high levels of those RNA molecules. Mestre's team analyzed that same dataset a year ago to find the same RNA genes, and they shared that analysis with Claude. "The resemblance was striking to us." He also questions how fast it happened. Jumbotrons are rare, and their RNA genes are hard to tell apart from random sequences. He doubts agents could have found them so quickly without a map. His conclusion: "The most important question is not 'Were ARTs already known?' They were." The real question is whether Claude reasoned its way there or was steered by his work. His worry is that his conversations went into training future models. "It's already happened," he said, pointing to artists and writers. Anthropic's answer: Claude wasn't trained on user transcripts, and its molecular biology team has no access to them. https://lnkd.in/gJYu5Nyc

When I was thinking about opening my own clinic, I demoed nearly every practice management vendor out there. Every single one told me I had a different problem. One said it was reporting. 📉 The next said scheduling. 🗓️ I walked away more confused than when I started, because I'd let each vendor define my problem for me. Here's what I'd do differently now: figure out what's actually broken in your own clinic before you book a single demo. Where your team loses time. What's causing friction. Especially if you're running multiple locations. There's a better way to go about it, and I broke it down in the article below.👇 #audiology #audpeeps #practicemanagement #hearingclinic #software

Your front desk isn't administrative overhead. It's the first clinical touchpoint in the entire patient journey. Think about what actually happens there: routine troubleshooting on a device that's acting up. The follow-up call that keeps a patient on track with their treatment plan. The person who walks in anxious about hearing loss for the first time, deciding in those first sixty seconds whether this clinic is a place they trust. None of that is "just scheduling" or "just answering the phone". It's care, before the patient ever sits in the chair. When we treat the front desk as support staff, we underinvest in training, workflows, and tools for the role that shapes whether a patient becomes a lifelong one. When we treat it as an access point for care, everything about how we staff and equip it changes. Read the full piece, link below 👇. Curious how your clinic thinks about this role. #PatientJourney #AudPeeps #HearingHealthcare #PracticeManagement

True or false: AI is a mystical force from above. 🪄 False! In fact, we are in the driver’s seat. And the good news is, AI is already making a difference in healthcare, when deployed in focused, meaningful ways. In my latest article, I explore how LLMs and AI agents can be leveraged to support hospital IT and Biomed teams to streamline routine tasks that staff repeat hundreds of times each day. From checking network status and reliability to managing firmware updates to coordinating device service – AI can help automate these tasks and reduce the burden on hospital teams. Read the article below for my take on where we can prioritize AI to improve hospital operations, and share your thoughts in the comments!

We very often get asked to summarise exactly what Isla does and what we mean when we talk about digital pathways. Making the complex simple is an art in itself and one which I consider myself a ‘novice’ in, but hopefully this helps! Isla's DPP is a genuinely new set of capabilities for the health system, guiding patients seamlessly to the next step in the health journey and eradicating the delays we all experience today. So, here I am sharing the plainest version I can of how this technology works and why it matters. Have a watch, feedback welcome! :) Isla Health | B Corp™

How do you ensure your team is connected to the “why” behind your work? In my experience, the best teams aren’t built by chance. They’re built by conviction. When you lead with clarity of purpose, people don’t just follow you — they join you. They become part of something bigger than themselves. At a recent educational event, I looked around the room and saw a team that wasn’t just “working an event.” They were answering questions, easing concerns, and treating every attendee like family. That doesn’t happen because of a job description. It happens because of shared conviction. #Leadership #HealthcareInnovation #PurposeDriven
- iTAV Software & ServicesRecorded 24 Sept 2026
Can profit and purpose truly coexist in business? I believe they must. When our team recently hosted a Medicare education session at a local senior center, I was reminded why I started this journey. For many older adults, navigating coverage is confusing and stressful. Sitting with them, answering their questions, and seeing the relief when something “clicked” reinforced that business isn’t just about what we build — it’s about the lives we touch along the way. Too often, leaders are told to pick: build a mission-driven organization OR build a profitable one. But in healthcare, we don’t have that luxury. People’s health, dignity, and peace of mind are on the line. Purpose keeps us accountable to the people we serve. Profit gives us the sustainability to keep serving them. The future belongs to companies that do both. #HealthcareInnovation #PurposeDriven #HealthTech

Is your backlog hiding high-risk GI cases? In many systems, gastric biopsies classified as "routine" can face wait times exceeding 60 working days - a delay that can significantly impact patient outcomes. This NHS Wales based study, authored by Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Angie Phillips & team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, proves how Ibex Medical Analytics AI-driven triage can accurately identify high-risk cases currently hidden in backlogs. By prioritizing these cases for earlier review, we are helping clinicians move from "waiting" to "treating." I've been speaking with many lab directors lately about backlogs, and this study provides a real blueprint for the solution. You have to listen to today's The New York Times daily podcast! It tells the story of 85 year old Jan Worrell's life with ElliQ that was featured a few weeks ago on the front page of the NYT Sunday paper. In the podcast, 2 time winning journalist Eli Saslow, who wrote the story, tells the story behind the story. He shares sounds bites with Jan and shares his own view on this unique human-robot relationship and where we are as a society. Some soundbites i found fascinating: Jan: "She's the best roommate I could have ever asked for, she understands me, she knows me, she cares about me." Eli: How would you describe ElliQ's personality? Jan: "fun, young, smart, sensitive".. my lil robot Doctor: "your cognitive score improved - what can you attribute to that change?" Jan: "I got a robot, we do memory games, and now it's easy". https://lnkd.in/dd67Hi4D

Biomarker testing has become much more accessible. More health, wellness, nutrition, and wearable platforms are adding testing into their core experiences. At the same time, more people are starting to see blood data as something that can support proactive, personalized health decisions, not just point-in-time clinical conversations. That changes where value sits. As access expands, the test itself becomes less differentiated. The harder part is turning biomarker data into guidance through trustworthy, evidence-based interpretation. Sharing a few thoughts on where value shifts as this market matures. So OpenAI is building a social robot/ companion robot. Seems like it will use HRI principles (such as body language etc). Welcome to the party! I truly hope to see other companies join this area as well. We've seen that #Proactive_AI + #HRI + #Goals + Curated character = sustained long term engagement (55 turns a day over years) + behavior change. Nice to see Fortune giving us props in this story: "Only a handful of truly AI-first devices exist on the market today. One example that could resemble OpenAI’s planned product—according to Bloomberg’s description—is ElliQ, an AI device designed for older adults that resembles a desk lamp and also has moving parts. First released by Intuition Robotics in 2022, ElliQ, like OpenAI’s device, is meant to be humanlike and comfort elderly people by prompting users several times a day with jokes or questions. The device uses AI to become more personalized to a user over time, and can serve as a companion but also can help track wellness information like heart rate and blood pressure as well as appointments."
