Mag gewoon! When senior living workers were asked what would reduce their stress the most, higher pay wasn't the top answer. Better management was. Had a great conversation a couple of weeks ago with Ashante Abubakar, VP of Workforce Development at Argentum, and Tommy Comer, VP of HR at Charter Senior Living, digging into the 2026 Perceptions of Careers in Senior Living report we developed alongside Argentum, and what's actually driving retention in senior living right now. A few numbers that stuck with me: - 94.5% of senior living workers said they'd be likely or very likely to stay in a job where their work makes a difference. Making a difference is the retention advantage good working conditions should protect. - Fair pay (85.4%) and work-life flexibility (82.9%) topped what workers value most. On the flip side, non-competitive pay (62.3%) was the number one reason workers said they'd consider leaving the field. - Supervisors matter more than we give them credit for, too. 71.4% say feeling valued by their supervisor is extremely important to job satisfaction, while 48.2% cite a bad supervisor relationship as a reason they might walk. Ashante made a valuable point: when workers were asked what would reduce their stress most, stronger management support beat higher pay and better staffing. If you want to improve retention, start with how you support and train your supervisors, not just what's in the paycheck. Tommy shared how Charter puts this into practice; they're not waiting for an annual survey to find out something's wrong; they're checking in with employees early and often. The first few months on the job are where most turnover risk lives. That's the piece that stuck with me most: culture isn't a feeling. It's the operating environment where your team experiences pay, supervision, scheduling, and purpose every single day. The organizations getting retention right are the ones who are listening for it in real time, not just once a year. Thanks to Argentum for partnering with us on this research, to Ashante for framing the data in a way the whole industry can act on, and to Tommy for the ground-level perspective on what it actually takes to keep good people. If you're in senior living leadership: how are you checking in with new hires in those critical first few months? Curious what's working out there.

We cut 16 hours and 34 minutes from Minnesota caregiver training this year. Not by skipping anything. By matching the training to the rule. Minnesota lists the topics caregivers must learn. It doesn't set a minimum number of hours. So we built one short course for each required topic. 15 minutes each Mobile-first One skill per course Nothing the state doesn't require We call them Microlearning Compliance Units, and as of right now, there are 67 of them. Comprehensive Home Care Service Provider: 30 hr 9 min → 13 hr 35 min Basic Home Care Service Provider: 20 hr 9 min → 10 hr 5 min Why it works: Short courses get finished (micro-courses see 80–90% completion) One objective at a time is how a new skill actually sticks Caregivers can do it on their phone, between shifts Finished training is what gets someone to a client's door feeling ready Minnesota is the first state, not the last. Our Content and Compliance teams are working through curricula state by state, care setting by care setting. Thank you Andrew Mantuano, Wendie Colvin, MSN, RN, Amber Shilling, Quinn M., Anna Lynch, Lisa Jay, Sindy Chettiath, MATD, Ashleigh Kimble, Grace Miller, Alesha N., and Sydnee Gorham for building purposeful training that fits a caregiver's real day. Agency owners, which curricula should we shorten next? Tell us in the comments!

An Invitation To Riyadh Air Employees ✈️ What if Riyadh Air could personalise not only what passengers watch, eat or listen to - but how they want to feel? - Calmer before take-off. - More settled during turbulence. - Able to sleep on a long-haul flight. - Focused when they need to work. - Restored and ready before arrival. BRAINWAVE RESEARCH UK 🇬🇧 develops neuro-acoustic technology designed to support specific human states, including calm, sleep, focus and recovery. We have been exploring how this technology could potentially create an entirely new layer of passenger experience for Riyadh Air | طيران الرياض: 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Not simply a library of generic wellness audios - but bespoke experiences created specifically around the journey, Riyadh Air’s identity and Saudi hospitality. Imagine experiences such as: 𝐑𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐝𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐦 A signature calming experience combining neuro-acoustic technology with Riyadh Air’s distinctive sonic world. 𝐇𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐰𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 A short restorative experience designed specifically for guests within the Hafawa Lounge. 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐭 Neuro-acoustic technology blended with an atmospheric, Saudi-inspired soundscape. 𝐑𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐝𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 A premium long-haul experience designed to support deep rest during the flight. 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐝𝐡 An experience helping passengers transition from sleep or relaxation towards calm alertness before landing. There may even be an opportunity to explore whether speaker-compatible elements of our technology could be integrated with Riyadh Air’s existing sonic identity as passengers board - helping create an intentional feeling of calm, welcome and wellbeing from the moment they enter the aircraft. That could allow Riyadh Air’s sound to do more than establish its identity. 𝐈𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬. The wider experience could extend across the entire passenger journey: PREPARE → RESET → SETTLE → REGULATE → RESTORE → ARRIVE Delivered through a combination of the Riyadh Air app, Hafawa Lounge, boarding environment and inflight entertainment. Passengers wouldn’t need to understand frequencies or neuro-acoustics. They would simply choose what they need: 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐦 | 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 | 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐭 | 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 | 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 | 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 Riyadh Air is building one of the world’s most ambitious new airline experiences. Could it also become one of the first airlines to make intentional Passenger State Regulation part of the journey? This is an open invitation to Riyadh Air employees working across passenger experience, digital product, inflight entertainment, innovation, lounge experience, sonic identity, brand or strategic partnerships. If this idea sits within your world - or you know the right person for the conversation - I would genuinely value hearing your perspective. ____ Mike Smith #RiyadhAir #PassengerExperience #SaudiInnovation

It’s official: Bayesian methods are acceptable, and moving beyond niche applications. The FDA’s long-awaited draft guidance issued earlier this year provides a clearer framework for applying Bayesian priors in confirmatory clinical trials. But, it seems, not all Bayesian priors are equal. The challenge for sponsors is not simply the selection of a prior distribution, but ensuring that historical information is scientifically credible. In my latest blog with Cytel, I explore the key elements needed to construct a scientifically defensible prior evidence package that will resonate with the FDA, from evidence quality and relevance to prior data conflict and alternative assumptions. Weve been hearing it for a while now: The regulatory submission of the future wont be a document, it will be data. Yet almost nothing about how we work has caught up. Sponsors already hold structured clinical data, structured quality data, structured product data. Health authorities already want to review it as data. And in between, we still lock it inside PDFs so the other side can extract it back out again. Both ends of the conversation are modern. Only the exchange is stuck in 2004. Thats the shift running underneath everything regulatory teams are being asked about right now: eCTD 4.0, IDMP, PQ-CMC, cloud-based review, AI. They get discussed as separate initiatives with separate timelines, but theyre really just one change arriving in pieces. Which is why we built the Future Regulatory Summit around the connections rather than the topics. Two mornings, 18 and 19 November. I want to be upfront about this agenda: We built it around an argument. The industry keeps talking about RIM as a technology decision. Which platform, which version, which implementation partner. Meanwhile the benchmark data has been saying the same thing for over a decade: performance doesn't track to the platform. Organizations running the same software land in completely different places. So the interesting question was never "which RIM to implement". Instead, it's why two companies with identical tooling get opposite outcomes, and what the ones who get it right actually did differently. That question shaped the whole programme. The RIM panel is about the distance between technical go-live and business go-live, with people who have run these programmes end to end, including the parts that did not go to plan. The data quality panel asks whether regulatory data is an asset or a liability. The AI panel is deliberately skeptical. Nobody is coming to tell you their transformation went perfectly. That was the brief. Register for free here: https://lnkd.in/eYtr85zN Free, virtual, 18 and 19 November, 10am to 12pm ET. Hosted by Epista Life Science

Everyone is talking about AI agents. Few people can tell you what it takes to make them work inside a 150-year-old pharma company. Our next Models & Molecules episode is with someone who can. Its our first in-person episode, recorded in San Diego, with a guest from Eli Lilly. The topic is digital transformation and agentic AI in big pharma. I went in with a few assumptions. I came out with fewer. Out Tuesday. Stay tuned 🎙️

Six months ago, getting a workflow from 20 clicks to 5 made scientists happy. Today, five clicks is too many. That's how fast expectations are shifting inside big pharma, according to Melody Shahsavarian, Senior Director of Data Strategy and Digital Transformation at Eli Lilly and the guest on our new Models & Molecules episode 🎙️ Its also our first in-person one, recorded in San Diego. Melody started in the wet lab, spending eight years on antibody discovery until the sheer volume of data pulled her into the digital side. Before Lilly, she led NGS and AI for biologics discovery at Sanofi. We talked about agentic AI and what it really takes to drive digital transformation in a large pharma organization, so that it turns into productivity and, eventually, medicines reaching patients faster. The episode is packed with practical insight: why digital transformation fails if IT drives it alone, why scientists adopted LLMs faster than almost any tool before them, what makes an agent production grade, and how Lilly is validating the tools scientists now build themselves. Melody was refreshingly practical about all of it, including the risks of agentic workflows, which are already showing up today. We closed, as always, with the contrarian question. Melody's answer is one she finds herself defending almost daily. Worth a listen.

A team I worked with was building an ML model on a combination of de-identified datasets. But they'd lost before they even started. They started with 600 columns. Before anyone could figure out which ones actually mattered for the predictions, 40% of them were dropped in a second de-identification pass. Combine two de-identified datasets and you almost always trigger more redactions. The part that struck me was that they didn't mourn (for lack of better word) the loss of those features. Sure, if you asked them if they'd rather have those columns back and... of course they'd say yes. But there was nothing they could do about it so they just accepted that 40% of the analytical value in that dataset was vaporized. It's the classic: ask a fish "how's the water?" and it'll say "what's water?". So common and ubiquitous and expected that its nearly imperceptible. What is actually sitting in that 40%? A signal nobody will ever find…a better prediction? For a cure? A new intervention? We'll never know! The model came out fine, fwiw. Building a good model isn't and won't ever be the hard part. It's the never-to-be-seen upside that should haunt your dreams (we all dream about redaction-induced data loss, right?). Thankfully, this is changing in no small part due to advances in AI. There are now ways to keep the privacy compliance and keep the value - that's what we're building at Subsalt. So. Keep the columns. All six hundred of them. Sit with the long tail a while - they have the best stories. Order the granular codes. Order the dates, too. Let the data tell you where it's been. Because the good stuff - the marrow, the AUC, F1 score - lives in the unredacted version of everything. Has anyone at your org ever estimated what the cost of what de-identification deletes? Opportunity cost is too infrequently considered imo. #HealthcareAI #ResponsibleAI #HealthData #MachineLearning #DataStrategy

Zehn Jahre Doctolib in Deutschland!

In June, the FDA issued draft guidance that could mark a new era in drug development. 📃🔬 One robust pivotal trial, supported by confirmatory evidence, is re-emerging as a pathway for establishing drug effectiveness, shifting the focus away from the long-standing “two-trial dogma.” But this shift also changes the questions sponsors should be asking. Not simply “how many trials are needed?” but “what combination of rigorous clinical and confirmatory evidence will persuasively demonstrate effectiveness?” In our latest white paper with Cytel, Jurgen Hummel, Evie Merinopoulou, and I explore: 1. The critical factors that make a single pivotal trial persuasive 2. How sponsors can prospectively plan for regulatory-grade confirmatory data including real-world evidence 3. Why relying more heavily on a single pivotal trial raises the evidentiary stakes for the entire development program Learn more in the full white paper via the link below 👇 https://lnkd.in/g7enQpUW

Full ownership of mAbxience gives us complete control over cost, capacity and launch timing, as well as the full economic benefit, as the next wave of biologics loses exclusivity. For patients, that means dependable access to high-quality biosimilars; for shareholders, it is a disciplined investment in a business we know well. The transaction builds on a successful partnership that began with our initial investment in mAbxience four years ago and has already delivered important development, manufacturing, technology-transfer and regulatory achievements. We want to build on this momentum. The acquisition of the remaining stake in mAbxience is therefore an important milestone on our #FutureFresenius journey. I am honored to share that Fresenius Group has been named Investor’s Darling 2026 by manager magazin, Berenberg, and HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management securing the highest overall score in this year’s ranking and taking first place in the DAX40 category. This is a very meaningful recognition for Fresenius. When we started our #FutureFresenius journey in 2022, one of our most important priorities was to rebuild trust with the capital markets and restore confidence in our company. Improving our capital market communication was therefore a fundamental objective. We knew it would enable us to provide stakeholders with a clear understanding of our position, our priorities, and our ambitions. This award is therefore a much-appreciated external validation of the significant progress we have made throughout, and especially during, the Rejuvenate phase of our strategy. It reflects how far we have come as an organization and how strongly we have established capital market communication with all our stakeholders. I would like to sincerely thank our Fresenius Investor Relations team under the leadership of Nick S. This recognition belongs to all of you. Going from second place last year to Investor's Darling this year is a remarkable achievement. More importantly, it is a well-deserved recognition of the outstanding work you do every day. Let's also look at this award as a challenge to keep raising the bar as we enter the next phase of our #FutureFresenius journey, Reimagine. Congratulations to our Investor Relations team and to the many colleagues across Fresenius whose contributions helped make this achievement possible. CMS finalized CJR-X back in August, the largest mandatory bundled payment model in Medicare's history, and I do not think enough hospitals have registered what is coming. Starting January 1, 2028, more than 2,500 hospitals will be accountable for the cost and quality of hip, knee, and ankle replacements, inpatient and outpatient, across a 90-day episode. Unlike past CMS pilots, this one has no end date. A lot of hospitals do not realize they are on the list, and 2028 is closer than it sounds. The hospitals that get ahead of this are ready for more than CJR-X, they are building the operational muscle that value-based care is going to keep demanding. Flare V13 is out today, and I'm really proud of what the team has delivered. The headline for me is the Flare AI Client, which connects the AI assistant you already use directly to Flare. That connection opens a lot of possibilities. You can ask Flare to find a protein structure and a set of known actives from public sources and load (and display) them directly, no downloads, files to open or other boring tasks. You can set up an FEP calculation (or any other computational method) by describing what you want rather than clicking through every step. And because the AI assistant you already use is already connected to your other in-house tools, results can flow into the next step or out, whether thats a summary for the upcoming project meeting, a comparison against your in-house data or slides for the team. I think the most exciting part is that we don't yet know all the ways scientists will use it. Computational chemistry workflows are diverse and the Flare AI Client can help you automate, or skillify all of them. Equally, adding connections or skills to your corporate AI Assistant makes those available in Flare, widening those workflows even further. Please give it a try and tell us what you build.

This partnership has been more than 12 months in the making. From this week, Accenture is bringing Everlab to its people across Australia and New Zealand. Fully funded programs for managers and above, with corporate rates the business has secured for its wider workforce. The business case for testing a leadership team has always been straightforward to make. Going wider was where the honest answer was usually "not this year", because running it properly across a whole workforce wasn't something anyone could realistically deliver. That's what's changed. We're now doing this at a scale that wasn't feasible a few years ago, across 1,800+ provider locations and two countries, with the sequencing and continuity of care that makes it work. Matt Coates, Accenture's ANZ Digital Core Lead, went through the program himself before any of this went live and had this to say: "It's been great to get a clearer picture of my health, with the Everlab doctor helping turn the data into actions I could actually take. It feels very personalised and practical, and the app is great for tracking progress." "Actions I could actually take" is the line I'd point to. Testing on its own changes nothing. What changes something is a doctor who forms a complete picture of your health, tells you the two or three things that matter for you specifically, and builds a plan around what's realistic. Credit to the Accenture team for the ambition here. Funding programs for managers and above while opening access to everyone else at the same time is a serious undertaking on their side as much as ours. Looking forward to the health outcomes we can help their team reach in the years to come.
