When finance teams stop wasting time on admin, they start creating real value. Take Ocean Wise. A global leader in ocean conservation, their mission demands velocity and precision. But until last year, their 8-person finance team was spending 50–80 hours a month chasing receipts and rekeying data. That time should’ve been going toward funding strategy, forecasting and reporting to stakeholders. With Float, the transformation was immediate: • Cards issued in seconds • Receipts captured instantly, via mobile • Auto-coded transactions flowing into their GL • Full-funnel visibility across every spend decision The result: 1,200+ hours of manual work eliminated in year one. That’s not a productivity gain—it’s a capacity unlock. This is why Float exists. Because every wasted hour is lost ROI. Margin left on the table. Mission-critical work that doesn’t get done. In Ocean Wise’s case, that mission is literally saving the oceans. For other businesses, it might be growth, hiring or innovation. Whatever it is, admin work shouldn’t be the blocker. Float is purpose-built to help Canadian businesses do more with less. Together, we can build the most efficient finance teams in the world, right here in Canada 🇨🇦

WFT does a fractional #FinanceDirector have to do with John Wayne? I was on a pod with top FDs, Elliott Gaspar, Stacey Borrow and Ramzi Al-Masri talking about ... 'How to save a business in 13 weeks' Whilst we talked about the merits of different forecasts for different purposes (a daily forecast vs. a weekly forecast vs. a monthly vs. an investment plan), the following was SUPER clear to me ... 👉🏻 a fractional FD is the go to person for a business owner with a cash pinch. A business owner needs to see and believe they can get through a cash pinch. A friction-free app like Float Cash Flow Forecasting is designed to do this. 👉🏻 a fractional FD will go short term on cash forecast (daily, weekly) in order to get through the cash pinch (or indeed save / shore up a business). It is so much easier to build a longer term forecast when there isn't an immediate cash pinch or worse. 👉🏻 it was a pleasure to be on a call with other portfolio FDs who have a portfolio because they live and breathe the John Wayne quote (in the vid) PS. My other favourite John Wayne quote was "Get off your horse and drink your milk!", with the deep accent, something my three daughters used to here a lot at breakfast when they were much younger. PPS. After nearly a decade leading finance teams across various sectors, and after a few transformative years as Finance Director for Plus Dane Housing, as I mentioned on Friday I’ll be stepping away in March 2026 to start a new chapter. From April, I’ll be working on a fractional basis with scaling organisations that want more from their finance function; sharper insight, better decisions, and clarity from complexity. I’ve shared a link below to a podcast I listened to recently that I think described what I want to do really well. If you have a spare 30 mins in the car or on a run, it’s worth a listen (thank you Colin Hewitt and Elliott Gaspar). I’ve seen first-hand how powerful finance can be when it shifts from reporting the past to shaping the future. That’s what I’ll be helping businesses to do: - Turn numbers into narratives - Build confidence in decisions - Create finance teams that drive performance, not just monitor it I’ll share more in the coming months as I build this new venture, but for now, I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned about clarity, culture, and commercial storytelling into a space where it can make a difference for more businesses. If you’re interested in how fractional finance leadership can bring fresh perspective and focus without the full-time overhead, I’d love to connect. https://lnkd.in/eprP6Vr6

Breaking 21 years of process takes courage, especially when your business is built on speed. Caterina Martinis and the NWC Finance Group team saw what was holding them back (manual handoffs, scattered deal data, printed forms) and made the call to change it. Their clients needed 24-hour funding, and they knew their systems had to keep up. We're grateful to have supported them with solutions tailored to how they actually operate. Now their brokers and clients complete everything online, and the team can move at the pace their reputation demands. When lenders bring this level of clarity, we can build systems that don't just automate processes but strengthen how they serve their clients. That's what lending intelligence means: precision that supports speed, structure that enables trust. #LendingIntelligence #Finspectra #Prizm
- finspectraRecorded 19 Sept 2026
Most lending teams run on three or four systems that don't talk to each other. One handles applications, another manages loans, and the third tracks collections. They work fine individually, but getting them to connect? That's on your team. At smaller volumes, that's manageable. But as your loan book grows, coordination starts costing more than the actual work. Your staff aren't making decisions anymore... they're translating between systems. What's shifting is the approach. Instead of stacking tools and bridging gaps manually, lenders are moving to connected logic that runs workflows off one foundation. Lending Intelligence works as that logic layer. Automated actions pull from unified data, so your team isn't interpreting what one system means to another. Prizm Lending Suite delivers this through three integrated modules: 1. Origination: Unified data that drives rapid and compliant decisions on every application 2. Servicing: Configurable steps that guide every repayment and account action 3. Collections: Intelligent recovery workflows for disciplined & compliant recovery When workflows operate on connected logic, scaling isn't a tradeoff anymore. Your team focuses on credit judgment and strategy while your system handles operational clarity.

If your finance team runs on a lot of people, a lot of data, and a lot of spreadsheets, you have probably made peace with a certain amount of chaos. Most finance leaders I meet have. They know the month-end scramble, the numbers that do not tie, the model only one person fully understands. Somewhere along the way they decided that is simply the cost of doing finance at scale. I do not think it is. And most of them have never actually seen what the alternative looks like. Picture one place where planning, reporting, consolidation, forecasting and scenarios all live together. Where you never leave the tool to get an answer, and the number is the same everywhere you look. None of that is a wish list. Finance should have had it years ago. I spent a few minutes on camera on who this is really for, and why it matters. If everything your finance team needed lived in one place, how much of your month would you get back? More on who Farseer is really for: https://lnkd.in/da6NTavg
- FarseerSince 19 Aug 2026
Every month I watch good finance people get burnout after days reconciling numbers that the system should have reconciled for them. You know the signs. A dozen versions of the same file. Two people who understand the formulas. A number that turns out wrong right before it matters most. Most teams know it needs fixing and what stops them is the fear that doing so it is a year-long project with a room full of consultants. The fastest way I have found to show that is not true is to just do it. Live. Bring a planning model you actually struggle with. I will rebuild a piece of it in Farseer while you watch, in clicks, and recalculate the whole thing on the spot. Worst case, you spend 20 minutes and walk away with a clearer idea of how this could work for your team. No pressure to decide anything. If you have been meaning to take a proper look, this is the easy way to do it. https://lnkd.in/dSh9Wqj8

Junior bankers and investors never learn much from creating the first draft. They learn from the markup that comes back from their VP. That's where the judgment lives. But that markup vanishes the moment the work goes out, so as AI takes over the drafting, firms are quietly losing the one thing their people and their models actually learn from. Lose that, and you lose both how the next generation comes up and how the firm itself remembers what good looks like. Farsight's fixing that. A System of Judgment that keeps the record of how a firm decides, so it compounds instead of walking out the door. The labs will keep making models that can draft anything; teaching one how your firm actually decides is the part only you can do. We're starting with financial services, where the difference is in the margins. Read my co-founder Kunal Tangri’s white paper on it here: https://lnkd.in/ek46Gkwp #SystemofJudgment
- FarsightSince 24 Jul 2026
We saw this exact same motion in AI for software two years ago, and it's about to repeat itself in AI for finance. The systems that eventually won in software were the ones that learned how you code, not just the ones that produced code. They learned your preferences, your conventions, how your team builds, and the nuance behind a single line of code. The learning and contextualization itself became the product, not the models underneath it. It allowed the outputs to go from generic slop to immediately usable, and it's why companies like Cursor emerged on top. Finance is at the same point now. Every firm has access to the frontier models, but the model alone doesn't know how to apply each firm's tens of years of unique experience they've built. How will the system continue to learn as the firm gains new experiences and evolves its preferences? The best AI solution is one that solves that problem, and it's a big part of what we're building at Farsight. My co-founder Kunal Tangri wrote up a full argument for it, link in the comments.

Today at Feathery, we’re launching Robin, the AI operations assistant for financial services. For decades, businesses have had to adapt the way they operate to their software. AI gives us the opportunity to flip that relationship. What if you could simply describe how you want your business to operate, and your software could build around you? Vibe coding gets you to a prototype. Robin gets you to production. Robin lets teams build and adapt workflows through conversation, on top of Feathery’s infrastructure for integrations, documents, decisioning, testing, and enterprise controls. One RIA launched an entirely new onboarding experience, connected across their systems, in one week. An MGA launched a submission workflow for a new line of business in two. Work that would traditionally take months. This is our biggest product launch yet, and a big step toward what we believe AI-native financial services will look like: giving firms direct control over the software and agents that power their operations. Peter Dun and I are going live at 2 PM ET today to demo Robin. You can also try Robin live on our site. I’m excited to see what you build. Link in the comments 👇

89% of Australian CFOs say fraud risk is increasing within their finance function. And it’s not hard to see why. The finance leaders I speak to aren’t facing elaborate scams. The real issue is the day-to-day processes that are manual, disconnected, and full of gaps, which make fraud easy to miss. Here’s what that looks like in real terms: 🔹Duplicate invoices slipping through unnoticed 🔹Expense claims with falsified receipts 🔹Supplier bank detail changes that no one verifies 🔹Approvals given without proper oversight These aren’t one-off events, they’re symptoms of a system that can’t keep up. In my latest blog, I dive into what’s really exposing mid-sized businesses to unnecessary risk and what finance teams can do about it. Because once fraud is detected, the damage is already done. The opportunity is in preventing it before it happens. We’re seeing businesses build smarter infrastructure into their AP and expense processes with automation doing the heavy lifting. That means: 🔸Real-time visibility 🔸Embedded controls 🔸Fewer opportunities for fraud to hide Read the full blog: https://hubs.la/Q03xBhWz0 #FinanceLeadership #SpendControl #InvoiceAutomation #MidMarketGrowth #ProSpend

“Me manda o comprovante dos Ads do mês.” “Onde está o recibo daquele anúncio do Meta de R$ 5,78 de abril? Não foi comprovado ainda…” “A campanha parou? If you’ve ever worked on the buyside, you know the moment I’m talking about. You’re in the bullpen, it’s 11:47pm, your VP wants the customer cube cut before morning IC. You’re staring at a data room folder that looks like it was assembled by someone actively trying to ruin your weekend. Back when I was an analyst, parsing a dataroom & analyzing a customer cube could take hours: cleaning exports, stitching data together, checking cohorts, rebuilding retention tables, reconciling inconsistencies, and praying the definitions matched what the sell-side banker told you. It was tedious. It was mission-critical. And it was the work no one could escape. That’s exactly why we built F2. Today I get to share a product demo I wish I had during those late nights and long weekends. The #1 AI agent for financial analysis, now able to parse, reconcile, and analyze an entire customer cube in minutes. Fully sourced. Fully auditable. Fully automated. I spent years buried in grunt work that should’ve been machine work. Now we’re building the technology I wish existed when I was in the trenches. Here’s what that looks like.
