Recent news in the tech world - everybody's talking about some app that released hundreds of thousands (maybe even millions) of people's selfies. Reminded me of a conversation I had recently. Hadrius has had to think about security like an enterprise, not a startup, from the start. SOC 2 from the beginning, GDPR controls well in advance of EMEA/etc expansions. Security and trust is what it's all about

NEW: Firm Oversight Treatment Plans Compliance teams can now upload your P&Ps/WSPs, and let Hadrius AI agents structure them into a dynamic list of risks, mitigating controls, and recurring tasks/tests. My favorite part - these are all interconnected and dynamic. Update a certain inherent risk or the set of mitigating controls for that risk during your annual assessment? That change gets reflected in Hadrius. I like to think of this as a more structured form of the Word/PDF docs we all use to manage our policies - you can see the web of the entire connected compliance regime all in one place. Huge shoutout to Mark Nazzaro who made this feature happen!

As Original Grain has grown, our finances have naturally gotten more complex. Managing cash across accounts, keeping an eye on rates, making sure funds are where they need to be—it turned into a surprisingly time-consuming part of my role. We were doing it all manually. And when things got busy (which they always do), it was easy to forget a transfer or let cash sit idle. It wasn’t efficient, and we were definitely missing opportunities. We’ve been using Highbeam to automate our treasury for a while now, and it’s made a real difference. Their AI moves funds between our checking and savings accounts automatically—both earn daily interest, and the rates are strong. We’ve saved over 80 hours this year and earned more than $75K just by not letting cash sit still. What I’ve appreciated most: the platform’s intuitive, the team is sharp and responsive, and I don’t have to think about treasury every day anymore. If you’re dealing with similar challenges, it’s worth looking into. Full details in comments ⬇️

5. The number one question I have been asked by clients recently is "are we in an AI Bubble?" It’s a question that me and my team have been grappling with in the last few months after very strong returns from AI related names we own in the Guinness Global Innovators Fund. An interesting article in the Financial Times this week. Everyone is debating the AI boom, whether it’s a revolution or a bubble waiting to burst. We are paying attention to the real story unfolding beneath the surface: high-quality companies are trading at their most attractive valuations in decades. These are businesses with strong balance sheets, resilient earnings and disciplined management, exactly the characteristics that tend to endure when sentiment swings. When the market chases speculation, disciplined investors find opportunity. Current market conditions don’t justify a wait-and-see mindset. Our internal research suggests we may be entering a period of increased volatility. With that comes the potential for downside risk. While many portfolios have performed reasonably well recently, history shows how quickly conditions can change. In 2022, many managers were slow to respond under similar conditions and clients paid the price. While the S&P 500 fell 19.5%, our flagship equities fund delivered +6.5%, a 26% outperformance driven by proactive risk management rather than hope. We’re applying the same disciplined approach in the current environment. For existing Henderson Rowe clients, we’ve already begun selectively reducing risk where appropriate, proactively, not reactively. If your portfolio hasn’t been stress-tested for what may lie ahead, it may be worth reassessing your current positioning. 10 of the businesses named in this year's Sunday Times Best Places to Work are Grateful customers! We are Grateful to work with thousands of amazing operators in the space, all of which are doing their own unique thing in their own way; one of the things I absolutely love about this industry. The ones earning that recognition put years into building something culture-led, one layer at a time. Pay structure. Career paths. Training. Recognition. Tronc. The behind-the-scenes work nobody posts about. A particular shout to Cairn Group, Individual Restaurants, and Hawksmoor, who have joined Grateful in the last couple of months. Strong company to keep. Tronc and tipping is only one piece of that picture but transparency and trust go hand in hand, and that's where the real work shows up. Congratulations to every operator on the list. Look after your people and they look after you. #grateful #sundaytimesbestplacestowork #sundaytimes #peoplestrategy

A few years ago, a UK tipping and tronc startup would not have been in this building. Last week we were invited to Google HQ to talk Gemini AI, GCP, and where all of this is heading for high-growth tech companies in the UK. Main point: the conversation skipped the 'AI hype' and 'sprinkling of AI' and went straight into operator-specific thinking. - What exponential value Grateful can deliver to hospitality. - Where the real problems sit for businesses over the next 12 to 36 months. A year ago, invites like this weren't landing in our inbox. The team's been grafting quietly, and it's starting to get spotted in places that matter. Something's shifting. So, here's a pic of me and Damian Guy in front of Google HQ. He was buzzing to be there, less so about being roped into a selfie with me. As 🤹 Travis Fish always says, "content is king". Thanks for the invite Ally Clegg and William Paloschi, looking forward to what's next.

Good read about the perils of frequent trading of investments -- and, by contrast, the value of saving in modern 401(k) retirement plans. These plans are designed to implement Jason Zweig's advice: "Investing as an enterprise is a lifelong endeavor to build wealth with patience and prudence; your long-term odds of making money are close to 100%." 401(k) investment lineups of diversified funds curated by fiduciaries with structural impediments to frequent trading provide the ingredients invest as an enterprise with a buy-hold strategy. And it's never a better time to be a buy-and-hold investor in a 401(k) plan. Investment costs have been trending down for larger plans for decades, and, with the removal of barriers to access lower-cost, well-governed, collective investment trusts (CITs), even the smallest plans can deliver top quality investment choices.

Interesting survey from BlackRock about how 24% retirement plans are considering adding investments with private market exposure to their 401(k) and other defined contribution retirement plans. That number should be higher. Retirement plan decisionmakers and advisors should select an investment option that is reasonably determined to maximize risk adjusted returns. Regardless of what investment is ultimately selected, the available universe should be considered, including private market investments that provide unique diversification benefits. No doubt, unique analysis is required when considering investments with private market exposure, and plan advisors and other fiduciaries should deploy expertise to support a robust process in considering them. But Jaime Magyera said it well: “Savers and employers alike are seeking more solutions.” More access and more choice provides expert fiduciaries with more opportunities to consider how to help participants make investments designed to maximize risk adjusted returns. https://lnkd.in/ehy-jmR7

As we head into the holiday season, many of us are thinking about how to give back with more intention. That’s why we built GoFundMe Giving Funds — an all-in-one hub that makes charitable giving simpler, more strategic, and easier to manage. Plan and organize your Giving all in one place - OH and have some fun doing it too! Built on donor-advised fund (DAF) technology, Giving Funds let you set an annual giving goal, contribute with cash or transfer from an existing DAF, automate recurring contributions, and support the nonprofits you care about most — all in one place. And when tax season arrives, you receive one tax-deductible receipt, making things a little easier for all of us. You can even invest your contributions to potentially grow your impact — all with NO administrative fees, so nonprofits receive 100% of your donation. If you’re looking for a simple way to make a meaningful impact this holiday season, Giving Funds is a great place to start: https://gfme.co/3LZK5T3

Real estate builds wealth. Solar builds wealth and cuts your tax bill by 30%. A friend in renewable manufacturing told me this last week: “Every April, I realize I’ve paid more in taxes than I’ve invested in clean energy.” He wasn’t exaggerating. Like many high earners, he’s built a strong portfolio. Real estate, equities, private equity. But each spring, he still writes a six figure check to the IRS. Here’s the irony: the same federal incentives he advocates for in his industry could also apply to him personally. By investing in commercial scale solar projects, he could reallocate part of that tax bill into an asset that generates cash flow and qualifies for credits and depreciation. It’s not a loophole. It’s policy. Designed to reward private capital for public good. Most people in sustainability get it. They just haven’t been shown how their capital can create the same impact they work for every day. 📅: https://lnkd.in/eKb3Qx4u

When you see solar panels on the side of the highway, you’re looking at someone’s retirement fund. For high earners in sustainability, solar can mean lower taxes, steady cash flow, and a portfolio that reflects what you stand for. Sometimes the smartest move is also the simplest. Build your own solar asset and set both yourself and the planet up for the long run. Let’s chat.

❓ As we step into 2026, here’s an uncomfortable question for finance leaders: are your systems actually automated — or just cosmetically efficient? Automation is widely discussed, yet many finance teams are still operating on what I call fake automation. Workflows that look smooth on the surface, but collapse the moment something changes. The truth is simple. If your finance stack relies on fragmented tools and manual intervention, you’re accumulating technology debt — debt that compounds every time you enter a new market, add an entity, or face a new regulatory requirement. What works in a stable environment becomes a risk multiplier in a volatile one. Global compliance updates, real-time reporting expectations, and cross-border controls don’t wait for legacy systems to catch up. Fragmentation slows adaptation. It creates blind spots. And it forces finance teams to patch over gaps instead of modernising the core. ❓ So here’s the question worth asking as the year begins: Which upcoming regulatory or technology shift poses the biggest threat to your current setup? #finance #cfo #payables #cardexpenses #finops

❓ How much are uncontrolled cross-entity payments costing you? As finance leaders, we talk a lot about efficiency, automation and visibility. But the cost leak I see most often sits in a place many teams don’t even track: cross-entity payments that move without proper control. I’ve watched this play out in companies of every size: • Invoices routed to the wrong entity. • VAT posted incorrectly. • Approvals handled differently in every country. • Intercompany balances that never quite reconcile cleanly. None of it shows up as a single line item. It shows up as friction, rework, compliance headaches and unplanned cost. If your cross-entity workflow isn’t controlled centrally, you’re absorbing losses you can’t quantify. 👉 That’s exactly why we created the 2026 AR/AP Automation Maturity Scorecard. I wanted a single framework that helps finance teams answer questions like: • Do our cross-entity approvals follow the same logic everywhere? • Are costs being posted to the right books automatically? • Can our ERP reflect the correct entity instantly, not after manual fixes? If you want multi-entity operations that scale without silent leakage, you need a scorecard that exposes the fragmentation and helps you mandate instant multi-entity posting and consistent workflows. I’d encourage every CFO to use it before finalising their 2026 plan. 👉 Comment AP/AR below and I'll send you the automation scorecard, no strings attached.

💛 THE GiftRound Charter Last week Sam Pettipher shared BrewDog’s Charter. It made me wonder… What would GiftRound’s look like? So I asked ChatGPT. Interestingly, it summed up our message pretty well: "There’s something broken in digital giving. You start with £100. A £5 platform fee. A £2 processing deduction. The recipient receives £93. And somehow… we call that normal. GiftRound doesn’t. We believe generosity shouldn’t be taxed. When people come together to say “Thank you.” “Well done.” “We’ll miss you.” Every penny should go to that moment. That’s why we removed fees. That’s why 100% goes to the gift. All gift. No fees. Zero hassle. All heart. ❤️ — Craig 💥 " We can only achieve our #AllGift #NoFee promise because we work with our amazing partners: Tillo, Ryft, Farsight Digital Solutions, Interaktiv Studio
