Today the government published a revised Code of Practice on Fair & Transparent Distribution of Tips, and it's well worth ten minutes of your time to ensure you stay ahead of tipping compliance. The headline change is ‘Consultation’. Under the old Code, talking to your team about your tipping policy was encouraged. Now it's required, every time you write or review one, and at least once every three years. A few details worth knowing: → You'll need to keep a written record of that consultation and give staff an anonymised summary of what came back. → A simple majority vote won't cut it as your go-to method either, the Code specifically flags that it can drown out smaller groups. → And there's new caution around fixed or guaranteed tip amounts for named roles, since that can quietly skew fairness for everyone else. None of this is scary. It just means "fair and transparent" now comes with a paper trail. 35% of workers still are not sure or do not know how their share of tips is allocated. This update is the government trying to close that gap, properly, with process behind it. That's the world Grateful was built for. Tronc compliance isn't a box to tick once a year, it's an ongoing job, and we'd rather operators have the right partner for it than find out the hard way. If you’re still uncertain about the new Code of Practice, or the Employment Rights Bill updates, why not join over 250 of your peers in learning more at our webinar on Thursday at 12pm. A few years ago, a UK tipping and tronc startup would not have been in this building. Last week we were invited to Google HQ to talk Gemini AI, GCP, and where all of this is heading for high-growth tech companies in the UK. Main point: the conversation skipped the 'AI hype' and 'sprinkling of AI' and went straight into operator-specific thinking. - What exponential value Grateful can deliver to hospitality. - Where the real problems sit for businesses over the next 12 to 36 months. A year ago, invites like this weren't landing in our inbox. The team's been grafting quietly, and it's starting to get spotted in places that matter. Something's shifting. So, here's a pic of me and Damian Guy in front of Google HQ. He was buzzing to be there, less so about being roped into a selfie with me. As 🤹 Travis Fish always says, "content is king". Thanks for the invite Ally Clegg and William Paloschi, looking forward to what's next.

10 of the businesses named in this year's Sunday Times Best Places to Work are Grateful customers! We are Grateful to work with thousands of amazing operators in the space, all of which are doing their own unique thing in their own way; one of the things I absolutely love about this industry. The ones earning that recognition put years into building something culture-led, one layer at a time. Pay structure. Career paths. Training. Recognition. Tronc. The behind-the-scenes work nobody posts about. A particular shout to Cairn Group, Individual Restaurants, and Hawksmoor, who have joined Grateful in the last couple of months. Strong company to keep. Tronc and tipping is only one piece of that picture but transparency and trust go hand in hand, and that's where the real work shows up. Congratulations to every operator on the list. Look after your people and they look after you. #grateful #sundaytimesbestplacestowork #sundaytimes #peoplestrategy
