We weten vaak goed waar we naartoe willen. Cape Town is about to host ~62,000 people for the Springboks vs All Blacks at DHL Stadium this Saturday. But the interesting number isn’t 62,000. It’s R5.2 billion. That’s the estimated economic impact DHL Stadium generated for Cape Town in the 2024/25 financial year - up from R3.3bn the year before. Accommodation. Restaurants. Uber trips. Flights. Retail. Security. Event staff. Suppliers. Tourism. And then the harder-to-measure value of broadcasting City of Cape Town to millions of people around the world. It got me thinking about the economics of the stadium itself. Cape Town Stadium cost approximately R4.4bn to build for the 2010 World Cup. In 2024/25 alone, its independently assessed direct, indirect and induced economic impact was R5.2bn. Of course, economic impact is not the same thing as profit or cash returned to the City. The stadium also still requires public support. The City's operating contribution was approximately R19.5m in 2024/25, down from R33.2m the year before. With another view - the annual economic activity associated with the stadium is now measured in billions, while the City's operating shortfall is measured in tens of millions. And the broader events economy is becoming a serious industry in its own right. In 2025, just 15 major Cape Town events generated more than R2.5bn of economic activity - an average of more than R165m per major event. This weekend is exactly why cities invest in infrastructure like this. A Springbok vs All Blacks Test isn't simply 80 minutes of rugby. It's thousands of visitors arriving in Cape Town, filling rooms, restaurants and bars, moving through the city and spending money - while one of the most recognisable cities in the world gets another global shop window. There was plenty of debate after 2010 about whether Cape Town needed a R4.4bn stadium. Sixteen years later, I think the more interesting question is: What would Cape Town's events economy look like today if we hadn't built it? The value of good infrastructure isn't always visible in year one. Sometimes the return compounds over decades. And Cape Town is increasingly showing what happens when infrastructure, tourism, events and a great city all start reinforcing one another. Let's go Bokke!! 🇿🇦 🏉 🇳🇿

This is a really big deal. When we first got the chance to work with Cathartes, I was stressed. They've got incredible leadership, a track record for years, and strong opinions on what works in their markets. When we visited onsite, this image was dirt. Nothing existed... yet. But Jeff and his team trusted us, and since we kicked things off almost 18 months ago, we've made tremendous progress. - Building the position and message for The Truette - Carving a brand presence with activations - Enabling the leasing team with collateral - Advocating for strong lease-up motions We've also helped build out their in-house co-working space, newly named Perch Cowork. A massive perk for residents. Big things are happening in Dover, NH, and we're thrilled to be playing a big part in it for years to come. 🙏 Cathartes Jeff Johnston Dartagnan Brown EMBARC

Feeling thankful that another project is now a 2x (!) winner. 🥳 Verge Residences earned the Silver for Best Property Website - Branding at the TITAN Awards and then took Silver at the PRISM Awards for Best Website - Excellence in Sales and Marketing, presented by the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB). Honestly, I've never been a huge awards guy. My style is more of a get in, do the job well, and try to build solid rapport along the way. I don't need the hardware. But I must admit, seeing these awards come in feels great, especially knowing how hard the DiBiase Companies and Authentic teams worked on this. Shout out to Ugo for his support, as well as Jared, Christine, and others I'm surely leaving off (unintentionally!). It feels great to be recognized. But, for now - back to work! Happy Friday! 💪

When you are running several developments at once, the hard part is not any single appraisal. It is keeping them all consistent. Every analyst has their own spreadsheet, and the board ends up comparing numbers that were built differently. ARGUS EstateMaster gives you one standard across the whole pipeline. Consistent feasibility, proper residual land valuation, and a portfolio view you can actually trust when it is time to decide. Faster numbers, and numbers you can defend. https://bit.ly/3RHzlft

A question I get a lot from developers in Saudi and across the region: where does our data actually sit? With ARGUS EstateMaster the answer is simple. It runs on-premise, so your feasibility and financial data stays entirely on your side, not on a vendor cloud. That is why it is the tool government-backed and sovereign-linked developers can standardize on without a data residency headache. Same modelling power, your data stays yours. https://bit.ly/3RHzlft

#AffluxProperty #ValueAdd #SpecialSituations #OffMarket #DistressedAssets #Insolvency #CotedAzur #Eze #Monaco #InternationalRealEstate #InstitutionalInvestors #FamilyOffices #RealEstatePrivateEquity #ValueCreation

Don't be so stubborn that you miss the market. As founders, we’re always told to be persistent and work tirelessly to make our ideas a reality. And I agree with that – to a point. But you also need to listen to what the market is telling you. When I founded my fashion brand, VONROSEN, the original concept was a members-only club. You had to be invited to buy our pieces. We wanted to create exclusivity. I liked the idea a lot. I still do. But the market wasn’t ready yet – at a time when even buying shoes online felt absurd to many people. So we pivoted. That didn’t mean giving up. But it did mean compromising on my original vision and opening access to the brand far more than I initially wanted. There’s no hard rule for when you should or shouldn’t pivot. Sometimes being stubborn is the right decision. But as a founder, your job isn’t to protect your idea. It’s to build something people actually want – even if it looks different from what you first imagined or if it needs to be revisited later when the market is finally ready.

Markets don’t reward short-term reactions. The world is a volatile place at the moment. One moment renewable energy is pushed down the agenda, and the next, people are interested again. That's why we can't let geopolitical noise dictate our investments.
