Financial markets are entering a pivotal phase that will reshape how investors access and engage with global opportunities. Tokenised assets and decentralised finance are moving rapidly from experimentation to real-world application, with implications for liquidity, access and market structure. Three key insights from the AFR Insights report include: 1. Tokenisation is unlocking 24/7, global markets by enabling real-world assets such as equities, property and commodities to be traded instantly, fractionally and without traditional intermediaries. 2. DeFi and traditional finance are converging, with major institutions and payment networks integrating blockchain infrastructure to reduce costs, speed up settlement and modernise market plumbing. 3. Australia faces a strategic choice: with strong regulatory credibility and deep capital markets, it has the foundations to lead in secure digital finance - but momentum and policy clarity will be critical to avoid falling behind global peers. Institutions are testing new infrastructure, regulators are accelerating reform, and global frameworks are taking shape. The opportunity now is to move decisively. Financial markets are approaching an important turning point which is set to reshape how trading operates. Tokenised assets and 24/7 market access are opening opportunities that were previously unavailable to many traders. Institutions are trialling new infrastructure, regulators are advancing their oversight, and international standards are beginning to form. In Australia, the key issue is whether the country chooses to fall behind or position itself as a leader in this evolving environment. CMC Markets has partnered with The Australian Financial Review’s (AFR) thought leadership division, to explore the transformation of finance through tokenised assets and DeFi - whitepaper attainable here: https://lnkd.in/gQV8Xdfq

We don’t have to fight these battles alone. When I look back on my journey, there were so many moments I wished I wasn’t fighting in the dark. I’ve found my way through—perhaps not "fully" healed, but functional and moving forward. But I know too many others who didn't, and who eventually gave up. This is why the 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 has become the heartbeat of my personal mission. To every founder, professional, researcher, and investor dedicated to this space: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. We want this to be more than just a "summit." I hope we can: • Exchange real founder stories, insights and findings. 📖 • Be a sounding board and a patient listener for one another.🦻 • Offer the support (and the hugs) we all need. ⛱️ 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁. Something I've been working on for a while got resolved on Friday, and if you're preparing a #DFAL application, it directly affects you. California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation has removed the surety bond as a prerequisite for submitting a substantially complete application before July 1. Here's what was happening: DFAL requires applicants to obtain a surety bond. DFPI set its tangible net worth threshold at $100K — workable for most fintechs and digital asset companies in the market. But insurers have to actually write the bond and price the risk. For this new license type and bond, those terms came in significantly higher. We were seeing insurers require a net worth of $10M or more, sometimes with multi-year positive earnings requirements on top. That's not a minor gap from DFPI's $100K threshold. It was effectively blocking qualified applicants out of the bonding market. Earlier in this month of June, roughly 75% of companies seeking the DFAL bond were expected to be turned away. With less than a month to the July 1 deadline, that was a serious problem for a large portion of the industry. I've been in ongoing conversations with DFPI, working through what a viable path forward might look like. On Friday evening, DFPI informed me they would remove the bond as a prerequisite so that companies meeting all other DFAL requirements aren't blocked from filing. Regulators and industry are easy to cast as opponents, but realistically, both sides want the same thing: efficient and durable markets, which don't exist without trust. Protection isn't the price of innovation, but rather the precondition for it. The Department’s ability to responsibly respond to market conditions and the standards they have set in this state will shape digital asset regulation worldwide. I am extremely grateful for DFPI’s open dialogue with industry, and their ability to hold that balance while representing the fourth-largest economy in the world. A few things still worth keeping in mind: → The July 1 deadline has NOT moved. This doesn't extend your timeline: it removes one obstacle in it. → The bond hasn't been eliminated — it's been deferred. Insurer thresholds may change over time with continued dialogue. Full breakdown on the Brico blog. Link in comments. #DFAL #DFPI #CryptoLicensing #CryptoCompliance #Fintech

The best advice I heard at Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe this week? Definitely came from the young founders who made the list. I asked them one question: one piece of advice for the next #entrepreneurs. Their answers are below, listen to Eric Braun (Eye-Able), Jeremy Teboul (OTB Ventures), Sasha Collin & Clément Nguyen (Lemrock), Astrid Moullé-Berteaux (Headline), Joseph Choueifaty (Goodvest), Philipp Nicolay & Nathan Gruber (Manex AI), Marie Christine Kameni (La Jobsetteuse) and James He (Artificial Societies). 🎬 After 30 years in this business, I still learn more from a room of founders than almost anywhere else. At BNP Paribas Wealth Management, they aren’t a segment, they’re who we work for. Each founder I met at Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe was driven by a different spark. A person, a moment, a conviction that wouldn't go away. So I asked them where it started. Watch Marie Christine Kameni (La Jobsetteuse), Felix Keser (BERGMENSCH), Alexandre Duval (Entalpic), Adrian Kotowski (Audiencly - Influencer Marketing Agency & Adspace) and Philipp Nicolay (Manex AI) tell you what inspired them. 🎬 The earlier you back that instinct, the more it's worth, which is exactly what we do at BNP Paribas Wealth Management. The U.S. is currently on track for a "𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗪𝗶𝗻" in the defining industrial race of this century. In our drive to dominate artificial intelligence, we are treating the technology as an isolated sprint—sacrificing our energy transition to feed exponential computing demands. Because modern infrastructure remains trapped in permitting bottlenecks, the U.S. is increasingly forced to rely on traditional assets just to keep the servers running. Meanwhile, Beijing is executing a compounding 𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹-𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲. By requiring national computing hubs to run on green energy, and deploying AI to optimize their massive renewable overbuild, they are structurally linking 𝗔𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 - a win in AI infra, and a win in the climate narrative. If the West captures the software layer of AI but cedes the physical grid and the global energy transition momentum, it is not a victory. It'll lead to a massive transfer of global influence. The U.S. has the capital and the founders to win both—but only if we treat energy transition with the exact same urgency as AI innovation. In my monthly column for ClimateScorecard, I track the macro policy trends where climate policy, grid infrastructure, and AI collide. Across 15 briefs, I analyze the policy shifts forcing this global realignment. Read the latest analysis here: https://lnkd.in/exhS7JPY

This milestone reflects strong investor confidence in the opportunity we see across Europe: a large and structurally underserved market where investment-grade corporations continue to seek differentiated capital solutions for their mission-critical real estate and infrastructure assets. We're proud to announce the final close of our inaugural European Net Lease Fund with €1.6 billion in total capital commitments, exceeding our hard cap of €1.5 billion. This extends our market-leading net lease franchise into a European market that remains structurally underserved, with €13.4 trillion of real estate sitting on investment-grade corporate balance sheets across the region. By applying the same disciplined investment approach that has driven the strategy's success in North America, we are positioned to deliver predictable, long-term income for investors while providing differentiated capital solutions to Europe's corporate tenants. The future is not just about tokenized assets — it’s about building tokenized markets that institutions, issuers, regulators, and investors can trust. That requires the servicing models, market infrastructure, governance, and controls needed to support adoption at scale. It also means bringing together new entrants, incumbents, and infrastructure providers to shape markets that are efficient, resilient, and credible. Broadridge is accelerating institutional adoption of tokenized assets and I was pleased to share our perspectives at our event with Financial Times: https://lnkd.in/g5Fbkvm8

Work-life balance as a new mum: my non-negotiables I’ve always been someone who lives for work; I’m sure many reading this are equally guilty. It gives me purpose, energy, and fulfillment. But since becoming a mum, I’ve had to re-think how I show up, both at work and at home, before my 5-month-old angel inevitably becomes a back-chatting teenager! (Though her babbles could definitely be translated to backchat, she runs our household already, honestly). I don’t always get it right, but these small boundaries have made a big difference: 🌱 Daily walk with baby. No excuses, rain or shine. Fresh air and a solid dose of nature's own vitamin D are good for us both. 🌙 Bedtime routine = phone away, on DND. Being 100% present, soaking up all the cuddles while I can get them. ⏱️ Nap times are admin times. Quick bursts of focused work (kinda WFH specific) 💻 Work hours = focus hours. Separate space, no distractions, so I can switch off properly when the laptop is closed. 🤱 Weekends are for family. Exploring, playing, and making memories. (and lots of shopping trips for her, obvi) 🗓️ Time management is everything. The only way to protect both work and home life. It's not about striking the PERFECT balance (does that even exist?), But consistent boundaries help me protect what matters most, both at work and at home. 👉 To my fellow working parents, I’d love to know what your non-negotiables are for hitting the right balance?

Excited to finally share! We’re launching something big today. Blue Onion’s new research report — The State of E-Commerce Accounting 2026 — is officially live. This project has been months in the making, and it tackles something we’ve been hearing from finance leaders again and again: “The numbers aren’t matching up and we don’t know why.” That confusion isn’t a spreadsheet issue. It’s a system shift. Over the past year, we’ve seen ecommerce platforms quietly make changes that ripple through the books, sometimes without finance teams ever realizing it. - Shopify quietly adjusting tax defaults and payout timing - Amazon updating settlements retroactively (what we've been calling data drift!) - TikTok rolling out a new payout model altogether Each of these might look small in isolation, but together, they’re reshaping how and when revenue actually shows up in your accounting system. This report pulls together data and insights from hundreds of ecommerce brands to reveal what’s really happening behind the scenes, and how finance leaders can stay ahead of the curve. It’s 10 pages packed with insights, trends, and data-backed analysis and a few surprises we didn’t expect when we started. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/g6pEd2Vt One of my favorite parts of the report: "The ecommerce finance landscape isn’t just evolving, it’s accelerating. The best teams leave no room for surprises: they build workflows that anticipate platform shifts, monitor for anomalies, and adapt systems before issues hit the ledger. With smart integrations, they prevent costly ERP migrations while gaining the flexibility to adopt new marketplaces, channels, and apps—without any accounting headaches." This is exactly the kind of conversation we need to spark because what’s happening right now isn’t just a shift in accounting. It’s a preview of how AI, automation, and platform ecosystems are going to redefine the finance function itself. There’s more! On November 19th at 2pm EST we’ll be hosting a webinar to break down the findings, answer questions, and talk about the trends shaping ecommerce finance in 2026 and beyond. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gvX_dGSv Excited (and proud) to finally share this with everyone and especially grateful to the Blue Onion team for putting so much care into making this report valuable, not just interesting.

Banks have shaped our mindset to only apply when there’s an immediate need - taking a “use it or lose it” approach that discourages planning ahead.
