Waarom? Omdat gedragsverandering niet 'leuk' is. Gedragsverandering is ongemakkelijk.

Hierdoor zien we: Lage productiviteit? Vaak een probleem van onduidelijke prioriteiten. Een gemiste afstemming in de boodschap. Gemiste deadlines?

Got a data leader friend or family member? Struggling to know what to get them for Christmas? 🎄 Luckily it’s easy this year, with the Data & AI Literacy Bible! Copies are flying off the shelf here: https://lnkd.in/e57XbZxT Creating this book was truly a collaborative effort. Here’s a shoutout to Tiankai Feng, Data & AI Strategy Director at Thoughtworks for his contribution. Tiankai Feng is a vocal spokesperson for the human side of data (his own book Humanizing Data Strategy: Leading Data with the Head and the Heart does this brilliantly!) and that perspective slots right into how we see data culture at Data Literacy Academy. He approaches even the most “boring” topics like data governance in fun ways that get non-data people motivated (check out his song “Governors of Data”, it will stick in your head!). So thank you Tiankai, for including your insights in the book. 💚

Board meetings can make or break a CEO. Run them well and your board becomes your biggest strategic asset. Run them poorly and you spend every quarter playing defense. I mapped out the 7 differences between the CEOs who dread board meetings And the ones who use them to accelerate growth. Save this cheat sheet. Here's the short version: 1/ The Pre-Read ↳ Amateurs send a deck the night before. ↳ Pros send a tagged, focused pre-read 7 days early. 2/ Bad News ↳ Amateurs bury it. ↳ Pros lead with it and bring the fix. 3/ Decisions ↳ Amateurs present one option. ↳ Pros present options, trade-offs, and a recommendation. 4/ The Agenda ↳ Amateurs spend 90% reporting. ↳ Pros spend 60% on strategy. 5/ Director Relationships ↳ Amateurs only talk to directors at the meeting. ↳ Pros call each one individually before. 6/ Follow-Up ↳ Amateurs let action items die. ↳ Pros send a decisions summary within 48 hours. 7/ The Real Question ↳ Amateur: "How do I get through this meeting?" ↳ Pro: "How do I turn this board into my biggest asset?" Most CEOs move from amateur to pro the moment they get the right structure. Which of these seven makes the biggest difference? Share below. P.S. Want my How to Run Board Meetings cheat sheet? AI is reshaping how we think about EdTech. With AI mentors and interactive content, learning platforms are no longer static, they’re becoming intelligent partners in education. The white paper by the team at @University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and @Peg Mischler explores this shift, showing how AI can amplify human insight in knowledge building and instructional design. Using CheckIT LMS as a case study, this resource examines what purposeful, ethical, and efficient GenAI integration can look like in action. Here’s a quick look at the core ideas: - Students' approaches to learning vary widely. AI can provide individualized support to their needs. - General-purpose AI tools (and even some AI-powered educational platforms) tend to assume a relatively static learner profile. - Neuroscience-informed learning ecosystem created by @CheckIT Learning provides a structured and scalable approach to integrating GenAI into learning and instruction design. - Beyond learning management, CheckIT LMS helps foster higher-order thinking skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, and reflection. - To ensure meaningful interaction and effective leaning with AI, new-age tools need to ensure thoughtful ideation, critical analysis, productive dialogue with AI, and reflective evaluation. For years, LMS platforms were built to manage education, not transform it. But those of us leading academic innovation could see early signs that, with AI, they could become something far greater — dynamic ecosystems for teaching and learning. And now, that transformation is here. AI is reshaping traditional systems into connected learning ecosystems that empower both educators and learners in entirely new ways. That’s why we immediately recognized the potential of CheckIT LMS and its neuroscience-based instructional design. It’s not just another tool to simplify teaching — it’s a game-changing approach to pedagogy. In our early pilot programs, teachers quickly embraced AI-powered lesson planning, scheduling, and reporting. 📊 70% rated the AI features as helpful. 📈 63% said they would recommend CheckIT LMS. ✨ Most noticed increased student engagement and participation. The video below shows how our neuroscience-backed approach helps deliver purpose-built AI tools that truly support educators and students. Learn more about our LMS here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gX_BhwTK

Onboarding should feel a little more welcoming, right?! 🤔 In a recent webinar, our chat was filled with 👀 nightmare stories about people showing up on their first day of work and no one said a word to them - no hello, no integration, no plan. As I was debriefing with friends, family and colleagues they shared similar stories of their own. 😧 It’s no wonder that 88% of new hires feel disconnected at work. Here are three tips to lead more effectively during the critical period of onboarding: 🔸 Consider pre-boarding: a small gesture before employees officially start 🔸 Connect the dots: help new team members understand “how things work” within the department and organization 🔸 Check in: continuously reach out and meet with new employees to provide additional clarity and celebrate early wins 💡 What are some of your onboarding tips to ensure employees feel integrated into the team?

➡️ The future of leadership isn't about replacing timeless principles, it's about applying them in new ways. AI is transforming how we work, which creates opportunity to lean even further into the practices that have 📈 proven effective. The Situational Leadership® Model, which has guided leaders for over 55 years, remains as relevant as ever in this new era. At its core, it helps leaders adapt their approach, whether that means providing direction, coaching, collaborating, or delegating, based on the evolving needs of their people. In the age of AI, adaptability is ⚡ crucial. Leaders are now called to help their teams build skills like critical thinking, digital literacy, and problem-solving - capabilities that empower people to work effectively with technology, not against it. 💡 The principles haven’t changed, but how we apply them has.

Each year, millions of learners graduate with the hope of launching their careers—but too many find themselves stuck at the starting line. In my latest piece for Forbes, I explore the growing disconnect between educators, employers and graduates—and why shared accountability is essential to solving the career readiness crisis. 📊 Our latest Graduate Employability Report reveals: - 48% of recent grads feel unqualified for entry-level roles - Only 30% believe their education prepared them for the job market - And yet, 89% of educators say their students are ready This misalignment is leaving learners behind—and eroding trust in the value of education itself. It’s time for a new approach. One where: ✅ Educators embed career readiness into the curriculum ✅ Employers partner directly with schools to shape programs and expand internships ✅ Policymakers support scalable solutions that connect education to employment The future of workforce development depends on collaboration. I spent time with our customers at the American Association Of Cosmetology Schools Conference - one of the largest events for beauty and wellness education - and couldn’t be more proud of the Cengage Work team for launching our new licensure test prep product for the beauty and wellness sector, CIMA ExamReady, by Milady. The trades are critical to the economy of tomorrow. Beauty and wellness alone represent one of America’s largest and fastest-growing skilled trades. It fuels billions in economic activity and creating pathways to entrepreneurship and financial independence. Yet, it remains a sector that’s perennially underinvested, even amid all the attention on “skills gaps” you might see on the business shows and CEO interviews. We’re committed to changing that - investing in new products that help people build and sustain meaningful careers in the trades. For many learners, passing a state licensure exam is a major hurdle into entering the industry - especially for those who don’t thrive in high-pressure testing environments. Our new solution, CIMA ExamReady, is designed to help more learners cross that threshold with confidence. It delivers personalized, state-specific practice aligned to the Candidate Information Bulletins (CIBs), so students can focus on the topics that matter most and build true exam readiness. This launch is also a testament to the team’s speed and customer obsession - moving from concept to launch in just three months. And it’s more than a product; it’s a commitment to helping learners succeed on their first attempt, removing barriers to employment and strengthening the pipeline of future beauty professionals. Incredible work, team. A proud moment for Cengage Work’s Milady team and for the future of trades education. I got a college mailer recently that actually made me stop in my tracks. Not because it was beautifully designed or packed with stats ... but because it WASN'T. One of the very few addressed to me so far (“Parents of…” but we’ll allow it), instead of pretending to be unique, it leaned all the way in. It poked fun at the stock-photo-on-a-quad trope, admitted every mailer is starting to look the same, and focused on one simple truth: colleges can look similar on paper, but a visit tells the real story. Which, by the way, aligns perfectly with what we see in CampusESP’s research: ➡️ Campus visits are the #1 most influential experience for families ➡️ The quality of communication sent directly to parents is #3 (Want more of the data? Get the report here: https://lnkd.in/eJqR5Cr8) And this little mailer nailed both. It traded overselling of glossy promises for tongue-in-cheek honesty. As a parent swimming in recruitment comms right now — and someone who happens to think about family engagement all day — I respect this approach. Don't be afraid to step outside the template.

Meta HMS update: what it means for immersive education 🔹 The facts, as they stand: • Meta is shifting resources to hardware and letting the existing education ecosystem look after deployment → Institutions can now purchase headsets through any consumer channel • Headset management becomes self-serve → Meta Horizon Managed Services becomes free, and working directly with the MDM of your choice becomes easier 🔍 So what does this mean for immersive education and XR? This is a positive step toward a simpler, more flexible model for immersive learning. Immersive education is no longer about a specific device. It’s about combining: - simulation-based practice - AI-driven personalisation and feedback - meaningful data generated from real interactions, not passive e-learning That’s where the real value sits. The field has moved beyond tech-focused experimentation and hype into something more grounded, outcome-driven, and sustainable. 🤸♀️The age of flexibility What we increasingly see in institutions is a deployment spectrum: 🤫On one end: learners practising asynchronously, on their own devices, in their own time, getting as many repetitions as they need, in total psychological safety 🥽 On the other: VR-based sessions in labs and simulation spaces, used deliberately for high-impact moments and formative assessment The power is in choosing the right combination for your learners and your institution. 📊 Our data reflects this clearly: - 85% of our top 250 largest deployment at Bodyswaps use a combination of VR and 2D deployments - VR sessions have more than doubled in 2025, where non-VR sessions have tripled, showing that immersive learning is now embedded more longitudinally in curriculum for greater impact Owen, a student at Creating Tomorrow College has summed it all up very eloquently 😁 #AI #XR #VR #SoftSkills #Education

I watched Louis Theroux’s Manosphere documentary over the weekend and I think investing in formal soft skills education is part of the answer. I wish we could simply dismiss these influencers as bigoted idiots who’ll soon fade into oblivion, but the truth is they’re filling a real values gap for many boys. What’s worrying is that this "manosphere" is now mainstream. A large UK study last year found 76% of secondary school teachers were “extremely concerned” about manosphere-related behaviours in the classroom. And in Further Education, where much of this responsibility is often pushed into tutorial sessions or pastoral slots, it’s clear we’re not yet matching the scale or urgency of the issue. Ofsted’s current focus on personal development, behaviour, and attitudes does create space for this work but in practice it’s too often fragmented, under-resourced, or treated as an add-on rather than a core priority. What the manosphere is doing, effectively, is teaching a value system and a set of behaviours that reinforce it. 1. They teach “toughness” we need to teach how to recognise, accept and express one’s vulnerability 2. They frame interactions, especially with women, as “a game”. It’s always objectifying, transactional and manipulative interactions. We can teach active listening tools and what respectful communication actually looks like in practice. 3. They sell “red pill” ideologies, misogynistic and often anti-semitic worldviews based on conspiracy theories. We need to make critical thinking the one muscle young people care most about flexing. We can’t hope that they will just ”grow out of it”. Importantly, it’s not about “correcting them”, we need to demonstrate how those tools will directly benefit them in their daily lives right now. This is how they will be listened to by adults, get respect from peers and even be more successful with girls. The DfE needs to pay closer attention. From school through to early adulthood, the system has to deliberately invest time, resource, and expertise into this. So the question is: are we doing enough within our current frameworks or is it time to explicitly design a boy-focused, anti-manosphere strand into how we approach personal development? Educators reading this, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
