Most Product teams underestimate the cost of “just building” the features they need. They think that it'll be a quick fix, but often ends up costing their teams months of effort. Recently, I ran a workshop with PMs evaluating a common problem: turning a long, compliance-required document sequence into a smooth, digital onboarding experience. The initial instinct? “Let’s just build our own form → PDF pipeline.” But when we broke it down: - 6–8 weeks of engineering time - Complex data validation & resubmission logic - Compliance & audit trail requirements - Long-term maintenance nobody wants to own The reality became clear: Building this would have been a terrible decision for the PM. This is where tools like Anvil shines. Upload the PDF once: - Auto-generate a webform - Embed it in your onboarding flow - Receive structured JSON → directly to your backend Hours, not weeks. And more importantly: Your engineers stay focused on your core product, not building another PDF engine the business never intended to maintain. If you’re a PM: Buy vs Build is not just a technical choice, it’s a business leadership decision. Focus your teams on what makes you different, not what just needs to get done.

The last week of June was a hot 🔥🔥 Here's what happened around hosting, WordPress & AI, in this week's Agentic Web Weekly: - WooCommerce shipped version 10.9, which lets any AI agent read and update the products and orders in a WordPress store, built into WordPress itself. - GoDaddy updated Airo for WordPress so it can work on a site you already have: refresh the design, change settings, write and schedule content, and manage plugins, all from a chat. - UltimateAddons for Elementor added support for AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to build Elementor pages. - WordPress core proposed building an AI feature into the core software, and many developers pushed back, saying it should be a plugin, not part of core. - Hostinger named Giedrius Zakaitis as CEO to lead an AI-first plan for the company. - WordCamp US announced its 2026 event in Phoenix, August 16 to 19, with AI in WordPress as the main theme. - Wix teamed up with Microsoft so people can build a Wix site straight from Microsoft 365 Copilot. - SiteGround added Shippo shipping, custom code, forms, and popups to its website builder and store tools. - Hetzner raised prices on new cloud and server plans by up to 3 times, starting June 15. - Cursor showed a big new in-house AI model, a new coding tool called Origin, and a mobile app, right after SpaceX agreed to buy it for $60B. Here is what I keep coming back to. Connecting a store to an AI agent is a weekend of work, and soon every host will be able to do it. But having a builder to turn a customer's few sentences into a real, working WordPress site they can run, under your own brand, is a year and a team that. That does not get easier just because the connection is now free and standard. The easy part is becoming standard. The hard part, building the real site, is where a host earns its place. Hosting CEOs and agency owners: for the AI building part, are you planning to build it yourselves or partner for it? I'd like to hear how you are weighing that.
