Dear CMOs who work on exec comms, here's a fresh plate of hot takes to start your week. (1) Every CEO wants to have their own podcast. Less than 5% actually should. (2) Execs will say they don't care about vanity metrics like impressions and only care about engagement from the "right" people. Don't believe them. They care about both. which leads me to... (3) Managing the egos of the execs that you support is 100% part of the job, and the moment you forget that, you will lose the ability to be productive. (4) If you want to create great thought leadership content, you need to challenge the POVs of your execs, not just write down their unedited thoughts. (5) The inherent contradiction between (3) and (4) is exactly why exec comms is an art form. (6) Anyone who claims to "understand the secrets of the LinkedIn algorithm" is a charlatan who wants to sell you a course. (7) You're probably overvaluing organic social and undervaluing paid social. The former is a shotgun (imprecise + ineffective). The latter is a sniper (precise + lethal). related... (8) If you're not running thought leader ads on your exec content, you're missing the biggest opportunity in all of exec comms right now. (9) If you're not using those same thought leader ads to also push your exec content to journalists, podcast hosts, and other important industry folks, you're missing the second biggest opportunity in all of exec comms right now. (10) You need to leave behind "brand" and embrace "performance brand," or you will not survive the next round of budget cuts. That's it for today. If you liked those, I'll be back next Monday with another fresh batch, so make sure to drop me a follow. 🔔

I drove ~1M impressions with just two posts. All thanks to LinkedIn's newsfeed. Both posts were featured in a LinkedIn news story (those links on the top right of your screen) and subsequently distributed out to hundreds of thousands of users. LinkedIn has been telling the market for YEARS that they want to be where every industry gets its news. They're essentially building a community-based news aggregation alternative to trade publications and traditional business media. The value prop is that real insights come from real practitioners, not reporters. After the big Twitter exodus, this focus has only accelerated. So much so that LinkedIn now has an editorial team (a team of actual humans) that is curating the news feed and hand-selecting thought leaders to represent each industry vertical. For thought leaders, this creates a HUGE opportunity. The job of news commentator is totally up for grabs. Execs that can put together a quick content motion that identifies industry news and pumps out genuine informed insight have a chance to become defacto authoritative voices in their space. That means TONS of impressions, followers, and of course ICP engagement (if you select the right stories).

"Last quarter I was running 12 influencers and it already felt like a full-time job. Chasing replies, rewriting the same brief, tracking contracts in a spreadsheet nobody else could read. This quarter we're running 90. Same team." The difference is that the whole thing lives in one pipeline: search 456 million profiles, shortlist who actually fits, and let outreach, follow-ups, AI briefs, contracts and payouts run on one board. Stop managing influencer campaigns. Start scaling them. Free for 7 days.
- InfluencerMarketing.ai - IMAIRecorded 23 Sept 2026
My plan for this year was to double the roster and hire two people to handle it. I got the roster. I never got the headcount. We're at 312 creators and nine live campaigns on two seats, and it works because discovery, vetting, briefs, contracts and payouts all sit in the same place. The roster grew. The team didn't have to. Scale your influencer program without scaling your team. Free for 7 days.

Simon Evans has pulled £100k out of LinkedIn in the last 90 days, and that was before this month even started. He picked up a retainer on a Director level search along the way, and his first post to go past 100k impressions is sitting at 130k now. On Thursday last week, he sent me an incredibly kind message that totally made my week! (screen shot attached) It ended with acknowledgement that despite being a veteran of industry, he'd became lazy and thought he knew it all. He didn't, and so he leant into his belief that if you don't know, ask someone that does.. Simon places senior BD and commercial leaders across financial services. He is not new to any of this. He has been doing it a long time but he recognised he needed help. Before we met in May 2026, he was, in his own words, sat waiting on responses to his last bulk recruiter InMail send. Either that, or chasing another intro from a client already in his network and telling himself the market was tough. We are having that conversation with founders constantly at the moment. The market is not tough for everybody. It is tough for anyone whose pipeline depends on other people remembering they exist. What actually changed for Simon is the bit people get wrong. It was not more effort. He is not working harder than you, he is not working later than you, and he did not find some clever AI trick that the rest of us have missed. He changed a small number of specific things, in a specific order. I am not going to try and compress that into a LinkedIn post, because I would do it badly and you would get half of it. So I am going to walk through the whole thing properly instead, and show you exactly what he changed. I am running 2 x private 60 minute online workshops on Wednesday 16 September and Wednesday 23 September, where I will take you through exactly what Simon did and the model the best recruitment founders in the world are running to keep opening new business opportunities each and every week! It is application only and the room is capped at around 30. Comment 'INVITE' and I'll send you the application link. PS. Brilliant to see your success Simon mate, keep going!

What share of your campaign budget goes actually to producing the assets, not just buying the media? Most teams don't have a precise answer. Industry benchmarks suggest it's up to 40%. That's budget that could be driving reach and conversions, quietly absorbed by briefs, design queues, and export cycles instead. Our latest whitepaper breaks down the 4 ways legacy creative production is taxing your marketing ROI: → The budget imbalance: creative eating into media spend → Asset scarcity feeding ad fatigue (algorithms reward freshness; slow teams can't keep up) → The localisation gap: 96+ assets needed per campaign, most teams settle for one → Losing the speed of culture when every change takes 48 hours instead of 48 minutes If you run performance, growth, or brand at a scaling company, the numbers in here are worth checking against your own. 👇Download the full breakdown in The Creative Production Tax whitepaper.

You've tested Midjourney. You've played with Nanobana. The demo looked great and then you tried to actually use it. Off-brand colors. Product details that are subtly (or not-so-subtly) wrong. Ten images that look like they came from ten different photographers. And a "quick generation" that somehow needs four hours of cleanup before it's usable. Generic AI image tools aren't built for brand-grade production and no amount of prompt engineering fixes that. It's a structural gap, not a skill issue. Our latest whitepaper breaks down the 4 specific failure modes of generic AI for premium brands: → Off-brand aesthetics (it can do "luxury," it can't do you) → Product detail failures — hallucinated labels, invented stitching, wrong geometry → Zero consistency across a campaign's worth of assets → The hidden "post-production tax" that eats the time you thought you saved If your team has run this experiment and hit the same wall, this is for you. 👇Download the full breakdown on The AI Quality Gap.

10-4, a Danish DIY webshop, tested the effectiveness of their digital catalog setup, and the results knocked the wind out of their socks, so to say. For one, across 6 million sessions, average basket size went up by 5.1%. And that's not even all. Far from it. For instance, Coppel, a national Mexican retailer, are seeing 10x conversion rates. I mean, it sounds like clickbait. Obviously. But it really isn't, and we've got the data to (and customer cases) to back it up. Learn everything about both cases and much more in our interactive booklet here, and you can start replicating the success as early as tomorrow morning.

Not 10%. 10x. Coppel, a national Mexican retailer, swapped a handful of PDF catalogs for digital-first iPaper catalogs, and they watched conversion go up by 10x. And that's not all. Far from it.
