The Dutch Ministry of Defence is moving to a sovereign cloud. It has signed a five-year agreement with SAP, with the cloud expected to go live in January 2028, according to Tweakers. Defence says it will retain control over its data processing and the configuration of the environment. Yet it also acknowledges that it will remain “significantly dependent” on SAP. Is your organisation assessing its own dependencies? -What do you control today? -Which suppliers do your critical operations depend on? -Could you keep operating if access, support or licensing changed? -Could you leave without rebuilding your systems? You don’t need to wait until your next cloud contract expires to ask these questions. By then, your options may already be limited. At Axual, we build on open Apache Kafka so organisations can choose where they run their data streaming and avoid proprietary lock-in. Make sovereignty a migration requirement. https://lnkd.in/e-hyw6Bi

Most supplier shortlists have the same blind spot: the suppliers nobody contacted. I learned that early. At uni I ran a small clothing brand and spent weeks trying to find a factory. Directories, trade fair lists, cold emails. I wrote to a handful, chased the ones that didn't answered, and picked the best of a tiny sample. I never knew what I’d missed. Procurement teams do the same search for hundreds of categories a year, with far more at stake, and most of it still happens in email and spreadsheets. On Friday we shipped RFx in Speya. Describe what you need, and Speya finds and vets the right suppliers, then sends the request to all of them at once. We tested it on our own cleaning contract: one request, 100 providers, and several quotes beat what we pay today. I can now do in minutes what I couldn’t do back then. More importantly, so can a category manager with 40 open requests. If your team still runs RFQs by hand, I’d like to hear where it hurts most.

Your disaster recovery can cover almost everything. But the transactions sitting between archive log transfers can still be exposed. StandbyMP Zero Data Loss closes that gap with continuous redo streaming, reducing potential data loss from minutes to sub-second levels on Oracle Standard Edition.

Adding governance after OneStream go-live can mean rebuilding mappings you already paid to create. Starting earlier brings more work into an already busy implementation. Waiting can leave your team with mappings to revisit and another change process to introduce later. EPMware’s guide compares adding metadata governance before, during and after the project, including when OneStream’s own tools may be enough. Use the decision matrix to weigh the options against your systems, project timeline and audit needs.
