A clear takeaway from ERS 2026 was the vital role the healthcare industry has to play in climate change. In the case of inhalers, propellants are our single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. But changing them is our biggest lever. That's why Chiesi is transitioning to a next-generation, low global warming potential, non-PFAS propellant. This reduces the carbon footprint of its pMDIs by up to 90%, bringing them in line with DPI products.

Biobeat Webinar | Beyond the Cuff: What 24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring Reveals About Hypertension Few people have shaped preventive cardiology like Arthur Agatston, MD, FACC - creator of the Agatston Score and a longtime voice for catching cardiovascular risk before it becomes an event. We're honored he's joining us live for a one-hour session on the importance of accurately diagnosing hypertension. A single BP measurement at a clinic tells you what blood pressure was doing in one moment, in one setting. It doesn't tell you what happens overnight, during a stressful commute, or in the hours before a patient wakes up - the windows where cardiovascular risk often hides. In this webinar, Dr. Agatston will cover where traditional hypertension management falls short and how cuffless ABPM is changing the way the condition is diagnosed and treated. 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 Effective symptom management remains one of the most important aspects of cancer care. Beyond improving quality of life, timely identification and management of symptoms can help reduce avoidable healthcare use and better support patients throughout their survivorship journey. A recent scoping review by Wang et al. examined 41 studies exploring the emerging role of AI in cancer symptom management among adult cancer survivors. The findings highlight a wide range of applications, from symptom detection and monitoring to clinical decision support, personalized care recommendations, patient education, and counselling. But perhaps the most interesting message lies beyond the technology itself. As the authors note, the evidence base remains heterogeneous, and many AI tools have yet to undergo robust external validation. This need for evaluation is not unique to AI. All healthcare interventions are expected to generate evidence before being implemented in clinical practice. As AI becomes more prevalent in healthcare, its performance, safety, clinical utility, and impact on outcomes must likewise be systematically assessed. Real-world evidence (RWE) has been instrumental in evaluating the performance of medical interventions in everyday clinical practice over the past decade, and it will likely be equally valuable for AI in healthcare. By complementing laboratory data on AI model performance, RWE can offer critical insights into safety, equity, clinical utility, and effectiveness across broader populations. However, AI also poses challenges that differ from those of traditional medical interventions. AI tools may evolve over time and interact with clinical workflows in complex ways. Evaluating their real-world performance may therefore require adapting established RWE approaches to account for factors such as model evolution, implementation, and ongoing performance monitoring. As AI continues to shape healthcare, we will be following developments in this field with great interest and sharing perspectives on how technology and real-world evidence can work together to improve patient care. Taking a peptide into a pen or pre-filled syringe? The concentration you need may be more than the molecule can handle. Aggregation, viscosity and solubility limits tend to show up late, when changing course costs the most time and material. The Peptide Development Checklist helps you catch them first: • 15 peptide-specific risks across 4 areas • Why each one matters and what to check • Device fit, multi-dosing and liquid vs lyophilized decisions Use it before your next formulation decision, or share it with your CMC team.

Working with a low-dose peptide? At these concentrations, small losses add up fast. Peptide can adsorb to vials, tubing and filters, so recovery drops and your results stop reflecting what is in the formulation. High potency adds a second problem: exposure limits that shape your lab setup. The Peptide Development Checklist covers what to check early: • Material compatibility and process losses • Degradation pathways and analytical characterization • OEL/OEB, containment and safe handling 15 risks in total, with what to consider for each.

A post-translational protein feature, H3K27ac, emerged as a key predictor of ADC response, revealing biology invisible to spatial transcriptomics. In a recent study of HER2-positive breast cancer treated with the ADC SHR-A1811, researchers at Fudan University found that tumors achieving a pathological complete response contained higher proportions of H3K27ac-positive epithelial cells. Because H3K27ac is a post-translational histone modification, it reflects a functional protein state that could not be directly detected through RNA expression alone. Using Imaging Mass Cytometry™ (IMC™) technology, researchers gained a more complete view of the biology associated with ADC response and resistance. Their findings showed that therapeutic response was influenced not only by tumor cell biology, but also by features of the tumor microenvironment. ➡️ H3K27ac-positive tumor cells were associated with response ➡️ Collagen-rich, fibroblast-dense microenvironments were associated with resistance ➡️ Spatial features derived from IMC were used to develop an ADC efficacy prediction model and investigate combination strategies designed to improve ADC response For ADC researchers, these findings highlight the value of looking beyond target expression alone to understand the functional states and microenvironment features that shape therapeutic efficacy. Every Bag of Hazardous Medical Waste Starts With a Clinical Decision. Every bag of hazardous medical waste exists for a reason. 🔹A clinician chooses a sterile syringe. 🔹A nurse replaces protective gloves. 🔹A laboratory processes another sample. 🔹An operating room opens another sterile package. These decisions are not about generating waste. They are about protecting patients and healthcare professionals. That is why hazardous medical waste should not be viewed as something that simply needs to be "reduced." Much of it is an unavoidable consequence of delivering safe, high-quality care. The real opportunity lies elsewhere: managing that unavoidable waste in the safest, most efficient way possible. ➡️ At Envomed, hazardous medical waste is treated on-site, allowing healthcare facilities to integrate treatment into their daily workflow rather than relying solely on off-site collection and disposal. 🔗 Learn more about on-site medical waste treatment: https://lnkd.in/eZf7GnpJ #Envomed #EnvomedGlobal

Patient perspectives were at the heart of ERS 2026, and this year’s theme of “United for better breathing” spoke to the commitment we all have to ordinary people, whose lives we positively impact through advances in science across respiratory health and care. This responsibility also means not passing the burden of change onto the people at the other end of it. As a CDP 2025 Climate A List organisation, Chiesi is committed to Net Zero by 2035, 15 years ahead of the European Climate Neutrality target, with these targets validated by Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
