Chris here from Zelt 👋 Still wrangling 3 different HR tools and endless spreadsheets to run your people processes? You’re not alone. More HR & People leaders are ditching point solutions for a single, connected system. Here’s why ↓

When I started Zelt, I knew I had to choose a path. Lattice sunsetting their HRIS & Payroll strategy is a good reminder of why. In HR tech you basically have two options: 1. Build a native all-in-one (with HRIS & Payroll at its core) or 2. Go deep and be best-of-breed in one area Moving 1 --> 2 modularly is possible and gradually the natural movement. But moving 2 -->1 is like swimming upstream. Adding core HR and payroll functionality add-ons and 10x'ing your addressable market may sound simple, on paper. But HRIS and payroll aren’t “features". They are foundational systems everything else runs on top of. It’s the part of the stack where the mistakes are expensive, the edge cases never end, and “we’ll just integrate it” turns into years of complexity. Like when you build a road. You should dig a trench and lay the wiring first, then you put the asphalt on top. It can be done the other way around, but it makes little sense and you risk not having the right foundations in place. So Lattice pulling back from HRIS/payroll makes sense - big change, but not a big surprise. The painful part is for customers. 9 months to find and migrate over to a new HR & payroll platform is no small feat. For me, it reinforces something we believed from day one at Zelt: If you want to build a true all-in-one, you have to start from the ground up. If you want to grow and innovate with customers, you have to own your infrastructure. You can't default to acquisitions or partnerships to try and glue systems together. Foundations matter more than bundles.

qlub is one of the fastest-growing FinTechs in the GCC region. HR Director Aşkın Safa puts it perfectly: "As soon as you have to come outside the system for anything, that should be your red flag telling you the system might not be fit for purpose anymore." That's actually a great diagnostic tool. It means your process has outgrown your system's design and you're now manually bridging the gaps. At 50 people in one region, your HR system is a database with forms. That usually works fine. At 250 people across regions - UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and Brazil in the case of Qlub - with different payroll calculations and policies per region, you eventually hit a barrier. Because once your processes start living outside your system, you lose data quality, accuracy and and speed. You're starting to lose control as well - shadow processes start emerging organically in your teams. So if you're wondering if you've outgrown your current stack: • Look at where your data lives and how it moves. • Check how many spreadsheets and emails are required for core processes such as employee onboarding, expense claims or payroll. It was great to meet Ash and the rest of the team who are building a People infrastructure that scales with the business. Looking forward to continuing our partnership and watching them grow!

HR and payroll sync is painful for all organisations. But for teams with hourly workers, it feels like hell. Managers spend hours every week chasing shift changes, reconciling overtime or complex pay rules, and fixing pay errors that shouldn’t exist in the first place. We built Zelt Schedule to fix that. The launch marks a significant milestone in our mission to bring one unified workforce platform. From hiring to absence to payroll, all under one roof. ✔️Intuitive shift planning with absence and pay rules built-in ✔️Real-time visibility and reporting ✔️Automatic sync to payroll, so paychecks always reflect reality. This one’s been months in the making, and the team’s done an incredible job bringing it to life. Excited to hear the impact it has on our customers Shakespeare's Globe + Croci Collective Ltd and get it in the hands of more teams.
