AI cold calling is illegal in the US. $1,500 per call. Every week someone asks if we'll add it to our outbound. The pitch always sounds great. Infinite dials. No salaries. No SDR turnover. Then you read the TCPA. Automated calls to mobiles without consent can cost up to $1,500 each. One bad list, a few thousand dials, and a massive fine later. So no, we're not swapping our SDRs for a robot dialer. We'll keep paying humans to have real conversations. The phone is the last outbound channel a machine can't legally touch. And it still books more meetings than any inbox we've tested. If you want outreach done the right way - just Whistle. See how it works → https://lnkd.in/dPEttb-V

"Send me an email" is the ultimate cold call trap. When a prospect says this, 90% of SDRs think it's a win. They say "Sure! What's your email?" and hang up happy. It's a massive mistake. 9 out of 10 times, "send me an email" is just a polite way to get you off the phone. You send the email. It goes straight into a digital black hole. And you spend the next three weeks chasing a ghost. If you want to keep held rates high, you have to change the framework. Here's the 3-step playbook our top SDRs use to convert this brush-off into a booked meeting: 1. Acknowledge and validate. Don't push back immediately. Lower their guard. "I'd be happy to do that, [Name]." 2. Pivot to specifics. Never send a generic PDF brochure. Narrow the focus to an actual pain point. "We usually help companies like yours with two main things: driving up contact rates or stripping out non-core tasks so your reps can focus on dialing. Which of those is a bigger priority right now?" 3. The soft close. Once they name their priority, bridge it to a conversation. "Tell you what, instead of sending an email you'll probably never open, let's grab 10 minutes on Monday at 2 pm. I'll show you exactly how we solved that for [Competitor Name]. If it's helpful, great. If not, you never hear from me again. Fair enough?" Sending an email is a nice way to ensure you're never heard from again. The reps who blindly collect email addresses spend their days updating CRM notes and chasing dead ends. The reps who challenge the brush-off spend their days booking pipeline. Stop collecting email addresses. Start opening real conversations. P.S. Whistle's SDRs are trained on frameworks like this to book meetings that actually show up.
