Medical writing is woven into nearly every corner of modern healthcare. Every clinical trial summary, patient information sheet, medical app interface, and evidence-based marketing campaign depends on specialists who can translate complex data into language that’s clear and accurate. Medical writers tie narratives to real-world evidence and draft the plain-language summaries now required by regulatory bodies. Meanwhile, AI tools are beginning to play an increasingly important role, not as replacements for medical writers — in fact, job demand in the field is projected to more than double over the next decade — but as productivity enhancers that allow writers to focus on the work AI can’t do. “The medical communications field has always been data driven and grounded in evidence-based information, but it’s now expanding its regulatory guidelines and overall digital presence, and that calls for a broader skill set than has traditionally been required,” explains Yacob Abdi who manages the Medical Writing and Editing Training Certificate program at the University of Chicago. “New roles now blend writing, editing, analytics, and digital media. It’s a convergence that’s driven by technology and regulatory demands, as well as faster publishing cycles.” For educators, the question couldn’t be clearer, notes UChicago program director, Karine Bravais: How do you train people for a field evolving so quickly? For veteran CRO Daniel Frailey, MBA, great Chief Revenue Officers don’t follow the playbook—they write one tailored to their specific company, customers, and product. What defines the role’s boundaries? What capabilities matter the most? What separates elite CROs from the rest? Frailey has spent his career grappling with exactly these questions. As a three-time Chief Revenue Officer and former Global Topic Lead for B2B Go-to-Market at Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) private equity practice, he’s built revenue engines, advised CEOs and investors, and created frameworks adopted by organizations from Oracle to Disney to Salesforce. His approach is distinguished by thinking strategically and critically about what the role actually requires. “Commerce happens in the mind of the customer, not in the pipeline stages of your CRM, so the mind of the customer needs to be the only source of truth for designing your sales process, sales roles, and GTM org,” Frailey says. “But we can’t do that very well if we’re focused on the internal world of the company around us.” Go-to-market strategies are failing to connect with customers because they’re trapped in a standard playbook that was designed to optimize around company priorities, not the unique priorities of customers when considering the product. Read more of his insights into the value the role of CRO brings to businesses and how to gain the right skills to stand out in this growing field. https://lnkd.in/gPYq8JsG #UChicago #UChicagoProfessional #CSuite #ChicagoBooth #CRO #Leadership #ExecutiveEducation #CareerDevelopment #Sales #TeamBuilding #RevenueLeadership

Leadership Unscripted. The Second City improv techniques are protecting brands in crisis. Senior leaders need to know how to think on their feet and handle crisis with authority. Twenty years ago, executives laughed off improvisation as entertainment. Today, Fortune 500 companies, top business schools, and even the FBI bring in The Second City for lessons in thinking on your feet and communicating under pressure. Kelly Leonard, Vice President of Creative Strategy, Innovation, and Business Development at The Second City, instructor at UChicago, and author of Yes, And: Lessons from The Second City, has spent years honing the insight that the improvisational-skills comedy requires are the ones executives need most. “We are living our business lives without a script,” says Leonard, who during his tenure at Second City has discovered and developed talents like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, and Amy Poehler. “The only constant is change, so the ability to be agile in groups is one of the most important skills a person can have.” Read the full interview: https://lnkd.in/eq-mw3yv #StrategicCommunication #BrandResilience #ExecutiveCommunication #LeadershipCommunication #BusinessCommunication #CrisisCommunication #ReputationManagement #CrisisLeadership #RiskCommunication #BrandReputation #ProtectYourBrand #BrandStrategy #CorporateReputation #StrategicLeadership #ExecutiveLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #CorporateCommunications #CrisisPlanning #Upskilling #LifelongLearning #BrandTrust #DecisionMaking #CommunicationSkills #BrandLeadership #LeadershipSkills #ExecutiveLeadership #CrisisResponse #CommunicationsStrategy
