Nothing tests a customer's loyalty quite like asking them to re-photograph their driving licence four times because the kitchen lighting created a slight glare. When someone is trying to send money home to family, forcing them through a barrage of document uploads and biometric selfie checks is the fastest way to drive them straight to a competitor. Verifying identity does not need to feel like an interrogation. Integrating mobile network data directly into the KYC workflow validates a user’s name, address, and line details against live operator records in seconds. Legitimate customers get approved instantly, compliance mandates are completely satisfied, and nobody has to spend ten minutes trying to take a glare-free photo of a passport. Speed up onboarding without sacrificing compliance. Imagine a high-volume SMS provider routing millions of messages an hour across the globe. To the naked eye, it looks like a successful operation. But under the surface, a hidden leak is draining their margins: dead traffic. Every second, they are paying to send messages to numbers that were deactivated months ago, switched off, or simply don't exist. In the world of A2P messaging and voice, "sending and hoping" is an expensive strategy. This is where the distinction between a database and a network becomes vital. A static list might say a number is valid, but only a Home Location Register (HLR) lookup can tell you if it is actually alive. Our Live service provides that real-time link to the network. In less than one millisecond, it confirms if a handset is active and reachable. For SMS and call providers, this changes the workflow from a guessing game to a precision strike: Route Optimisation: Filter out inactive numbers at the gateway before they ever hit a paid route. Margin Protection: Stop paying for undeliverable traffic that will never reach a customer. Infrastructure Health: Reduce the load on your signalling environment by removing the noise of dead numbers. For providers, it is about moving away from the "volume at all costs" mindset and toward authoritative, network-led efficiency. Serial returners are finding ways around fraud checks by creating multiple accounts, using fake names, or switching delivery addresses. Email addresses and shipping details are easy to fake. Mobile numbers are not. With the right checks in place, a mobile number can: - Act as a consistent anchor to the customer - Be verified using OTPs, or silent network authentication - Help assess risk at the point of return or sign-up Retailers can stop fraud without making returns harder for genuine customers. Want to reduce return abuse without adding friction? As online onboarding becomes faster and more widely adopted, fraudsters are finding new ways to exploit verification systems, create synthetic accounts and manipulate legitimate users. In this month’s newsletter, we examine the rise of online onboarding fraud, explain how Authorised Push Payment scams work, and explore how mobile network intelligence can strengthen security without creating unnecessary friction for genuine customers. ✅ Inside this edition: • How fraudsters exploit online onboarding systems to create fake accounts, steal identities and conduct unauthorised transactions. • What APP fraud is, how victims are manipulated into authorising payments, and how businesses and consumers can better protect themselves. • Why checking mobile line credibility before running expensive KYC, sanctions and PEP screening can prevent businesses from wasting money on synthetic identities. Read, share and subscribe to stay up to date with the latest developments in mobile identity, fraud prevention and online onboarding.

Remittance wallets are a goldmine for account takeover attacks. Once a fraudster gets in, funds are transferred across borders in seconds, leaving victims with almost no chance of recovering their cash. The most effective route in is still the classic SIM-swap. Fraudsters trick mobile networks into porting a victim’s number onto a new SIM card to intercept security codes. In that scenario, sending a standard two-factor SMS actually hands the login keys straight to the attacker. Checking live network signals in real time confirms whether a SIM card was swapped recently before sending a passcode or approving a payout. It stops account takeover in its tracks, without forcing legitimate users to slow down. Cut off account takeovers at the source. When moving money across borders, security systems focus heavily on the payment size or the receiving account. The actual phone line placing the transfer rarely gets a second glance. That is a massive oversight. Remittance platforms deal with relentless volume, making them a primary target for stolen card testing and transaction fraud. The common denominator among bad actors is their reliance on virtual numbers, unallocated ranges, and temporary VoIP lines to obscure their real location. It is why one of the world's largest payment networks trusts our mobile intelligence to evaluate line risk across their global transactions. Spotting a payment initiated from a throwaway line rather than a genuine mobile subscriber flags fraudulent activity instantly, stopping bad actors before the funds leave the country. Find out how our live network data identifies throwaway lines and prevents transaction fraud before money moves: https://lnkd.in/eqV-2sku/?utm_campaign=Boost_Post_WebsiteVisits_Sep30,2026&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=paid&utm_id=1227050083&hsa_acc=503079019&hsa_cam=1227050083&hsa_grp=895400453&hsa_ad=1566628813&hsa_net=linkedin&hsa_ver=3
