Congressman Rick Crawford (R-AR) has introduced the DAC Safety Act (H.R.4320 ➡️ https://bit.ly/3LduBKX) to help clear the highways of drug-impaired truck drivers. Surprisingly, current regulations do not disqualify licensed truck drivers who fail a hair test for illegal drug use. H.R.4320 will disqualify these drivers. The Trucking Alliance urges all highway users to support H.R.4320! You can reach your Representative here ➡️ https://bit.ly/2FPj40L and urge their support for H.R. 4320! #TruckingAlliance #SafetyFirst #DACAct #TransportationSafety #TruckingReform #SaferRoads

Long drives, favorite playlists, and a backseat full of snacks. Safe roads are what make those memories possible. The DAC Safety Act (H.R. 4320) helps protect that peace of mind. By ensuring hair drug test results can be reported to the FMCSA Clearinghouse, it closes a loophole and keeps safety first on every mile. Because the best road trips are the ones where you never have to worry about what’s ahead. 🛣️ Let your Congressman know that you support H.R.4320: https://bit.ly/2FPj40L #SafeRoadsAhead #TruckingAlliance #DACSafetyAct

More than 45 years ago, Congress required the Secretary of Transportation to require all trucking companies maintain liability insurance to offset the medical expenses and costs incurred by victims of large truck crashes, if the trucking company is at fault. The problem is that no Secretary of Transportation since 1985 has adjusted the minimum insurance amount to keep up with inflation or current medical expenses. 🔹 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲. Raise the mandatory insurance requirement from $750,000 (the amount set 45 years ago) to an amount that matches today’s economic realities, in order to ensure adequate compensation for victims. And index future adjustments to medical inflation.

Trucking Alliance carriers transport goods more than 10 billion miles annually. When you log that many miles, keeping your drivers safe is the highest priority. That’s why Trucking Alliance carriers are recognized for investing in advanced safety technologies, rigorous compliance standards, equipment maintenance, and in-depth driver safety training. But foreign-owned trucking companies, usually from Mexico and Eastern Europe, have infiltrated the U.S. to transport domestic freight illegally, not complying with federal regulations, proper driver training, or maintaining equipment. It’s called cabotage, and we must remove these unsafe “rogue carriers” from the highways. To fix this issue: 🔹 Increase state and federal dollars to keep rogue carriers off U.S. highways. 🔹 Ensure that customs, border protection, and federal enforcement authorities catch illegal cross-border freight haulers. 🔹 Focus enforcement on high-volume freight corridors where most rogue carriers operate. Ridding the highways of illegal, rogue carriers makes the roads safer for everyone.

What about drug use among truck drivers? Two sets of numbers deserve closer attention: First, FMCSA claims in its’ most recent data that only 6% of truck drivers in a fatal accident had illegal drugs in their system. Yet FMCSA had no information on 58% of those drivers, but decided to count them as “drug free” to get the percentage down to 6 percent. When you look at drivers who actually submitted to a drug test, 28.3% failed it. For cocaine, heroin, opioids, and cannabis. So, is it 6% or 28%?
