AI Adoption: Pick a tool, HR runs a training, everyone follows the plan, done. Yeah. No. 🙅♀️ My team moved to AI without me. I became the one playing catch-up. That’s when it hit me: AI isn’t a tech rollout… it’s a people shift. And who carries the weight of the “people-y” things? Our good ol’ friends in Human Resources. The questions, the fears, the change, the guardrails... it all seems to find its way to you. If you’re in HR right now trying to navigate this chaos: I see you. Here’s my latest confession (and my thank you). A Manager’s Confession to HR Leaders on AI https://lnkd.in/gVYyz-XB

I spent the weekend cleaning out my garage. The leadership lesson almost made it worthwhile. (Almost.) At first, I was frustrated with myself. Why did I let it get so disorganized? You can guess what happened next. I started blaming my bride and kids for contributing to the mess. But then I realized who I really needed to blame: Sir Isaac Newton and his second law of thermodynamics. (Jerk.) Any system naturally trends toward disorder. My garage wasn't messy because someone failed. It was messy because that's what happens to systems. The leadership lesson struck me like an apple falling on Newton’s dumb head: > When we don't understand entropy, we misread systemic breakdown as personal failure. > We waste precious energy pointing fingers instead of recognizing that drift is inevitable. > We damage relationships by blaming people for physics. The real work of leadership isn't preventing entropy—that's impossible. Instead, it’s recognizing this natural law early and expending energy to restore systems before they collapse. Now that I've finished sprucing up my garage… I'll be spending the coming weeks sharing how we can overcome the forces of entropy that are pulling apart our organizations, schools, communities, and society at large. I’m beyond excited about the journey we’re about to take together! 🧹 Self-Coaching Questions: > Where am I blaming people for natural system breakdown? > What energy am I wasting on blame that could be redirected toward solutions?

People aren’t afraid of AI. They’re afraid of being left behind. A recent study showed that.. ✅ 81% feel positive about AI’s impact on their careers. ✅ 67% believe it can strengthen company culture. ✅ 60% want organizations to roll it out gradually and thoughtfully. This is where HR leaders can make a real difference. HR has the power to bridge the gap between innovation and inclusion by building structured AI training into learning programs, encouraging transparency around how AI is used, and supporting managers in guiding teams through change. The future of work isn’t man vs. machine, it’s humans enabled by technology. For our HR friends + C-suite: train your people. Trust their adaptability. That’s how you future-proof your organization. We make things harder than they need to be. It can cost us dearly—here’s how: As leaders, we must be clear when sharing our expectations. Without clarity: > Performance suffers > Surprises ensue > Morale and trust erode > Team dynamics crumble > We miss out on our full potential So why do leaders hesitate to offer clarity? > Too busy > Don’t want to micromanage > Feel they shouldn’t have to > Don’t actually know what they expect None of these are acceptable. FACT: Clear is kind. Let’s draw inspiration from this pill bottle. Let’s make our expectations for our people blisteringly clear. Then we can flip our chairs around and ask them: > What will you need to do to meet the expectations? > How can I best support you in doing that? ✅ Self-Coaching Questions: > Who’s somebody on my team I’m counting on to deliver? > How clear are they on my expectations (1-10)? > How do I know this to be true?
