I’m Carson Cloud — Co-Founder of Solar Survey Ai — and I want to personally introduce what we’re building. A few years ago, I was living in my minivan, traveling the U.S. to open new markets for residential solar surveys. I donated plasma just to keep gas in the tank, food on the table & the business operational. I flew the drones, delivered the reports and built a profitable, nationwide business from the ground up. That journey taught me two hard truths: 1) Solar can’t scale without speed and precision 2) The current inspection process — even with drones — is still broken. Manual inspections can take weeks or even months. Drone imagery helped — but the data still gets manually annotated, taking 1–2 weeks to process. While gigawatts of new solar go online, operators are stuck waiting for insights — losing time, money, and megawatts in the process. Solar Survey Ai changes that. We’re building the brain of tomorrow’s energy grid. We can process GWs of solar in a day, detecting thermal anomalies & soiling issues to deliver same-day reports that tell operators exactly where they’re losing power and revenue. Some of the biggest solar owners, are reporting seven-figures in daily losses during performance dips. We stop that bleed — and prevent it from happening again. Every flight trains our system. Every anomaly becomes a new layer of intelligence. We’re not just inspecting — we’re building the decision-making layer for the world’s solar infrastructure. If that vision resonates, I’d love to connect. - Carson Cloud Co-Founder & CEO, Solar Survey Ai

What an amazing week in Vegas at #REPlus! It was a pleasure connecting with so many brilliant minds driving solar forward — from teams at NextEra Energy Resources, MN8 Energy, SOLV Energy, Ameresco, Ron Bhattacharyay & Spencer Burleigh at American Terawatt, SolarTech, Sunkonnect Pte Ltd, GoodPWR, Access International - Solar Consultancy Services (Designs, Proposals, Engineering and PE Stamping), Scanifly, Verogy, Clean Energy Associates (CEA) & many more along the way! I’m excited to deepen these relationships and explore new partnerships in the months ahead. Now I’m off to Belgium to speak at the one and only Kim Verduyckt’s Solar Cleaners Network event!

I just saw a post from Tim Montague and could not believe what I was reading 👇 𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕. Not just new permits. All construction. Including projects already underway. This isn’t a small regulatory tweak... It’s not about interconnection reform or permitting oversight. It’s a full stop. Regardless of where you land politically, this should worry anyone who cares about: • Regulatory stability • Capital investment • Infrastructure planning • Private property rights You cannot build long-term energy infrastructure if rules can change mid-project. I don't think solar needs special treatment — but any industry deserves predictable governance. If we want serious operators, serious capital, and serious accountability in this industry, the answer isn’t bans. It’s better standards. Clear rules. And consistent enforcement. Anything else undermines trust — not just in solar, but in the system that’s supposed to govern it.

Erik Hart from GoodPWR made a good point on one of my posts. Who should really be to blame? “...everyone is so quick to blame the installer for underperformance. As an installer, we literally install what was sold, period. Underperformance typically comes from a customer being oversold and overpromised...” Installers install. They don’t rewrite expectations. If a system was sold as 100% offset and reality delivers 57%, that’s not an install issue. That’s a truth problem upstream. Equipment failures are solvable. Broken expectations aren’t. Most “underperformance” starts before install — in the promise, the model, the assumptions. If we want fewer underperforming systems, we need fewer overpromised ones. And to play devil’s advocate: this is where the site survey should act as a gate. But if a survey tells the economic truth, will anyone actually listen?

Ran into ⚡️ Dean Chiaravallotti ⚡️ from Solar Insure in the San Diego airport. We kept circling back to one thing: Confidence. Homeowners want it when they sign. Sales teams need it when they present. Installers rely on it when they build. Financiers expect it when they fund. Operators depend on it over time. Solar works best when expectations and execution stay aligned. Dean focuses on the back end — monitoring, guarantees, long-term protection. We focus on the front end — clear site conditions, engineering readiness, making sure what’s proposed is what can actually be built. Different roles. Same goal: Solar that performs long after the install crew leaves. 👉 https://solarsurvey.ai/
