European Cybersecurity Month is a good reminder that network configuration is a core part of your company’s security. If guests, clients, or contractors connect to the same Wi-Fi as your employees, their devices can end up on the same network as your internal systems – workstations, servers, printers, security cameras, and file storage. Even if you trust the visitor, you have no control over their device: you don’t know if it’s fully updated or whether it carries malware. If that device connects to your main business network, it can also create risk for your internal infrastructure. That’s exactly what a dedicated Guest Wi-Fi is for – it provides visitors with internet access while keeping them separate from internal systems. However, a separate Wi-Fi name alone isn’t enough. True separation must be implemented at the network level, using a dedicated VLAN and firewall rules that block access to internal resources. If you’re not sure whether your Guest Wi-Fi is truly isolated from your internal network, we can help you review your setup and configure it properly.

European Cybersecurity Month is a good reminder that improving cybersecurity doesn’t always have to start with large budgets or complex projects. In practice, many security gaps come from much simpler issues: overly broad admin rights, active accounts left behind by former employees, or backups that have never actually been tested. Many of these risks can be reduced right away – simply by tightening internal procedures and making better use of the tools you already have. In the animation, we share 6 practical steps to help close common security gaps across an organization. Take a look and see what’s already working for your business, and what might still need attention. If you’d like a clearer picture of where the biggest risks lie in your IT environment, get in touch – we’ll help you evaluate your setup and set clear IT security priorities.

September 13 is Programmer’s Day – and yes, even the date is a little nerdy. It falls on the 256th day of the year. In computing, 8 bits make one byte, giving you 256 possible values. And while the name puts programmers in the spotlight, code rarely stays with the person who wrote it. It gets tested, deployed, integrated, maintained and secured – becoming part of the day-to-day work of plenty of people across IT. So here’s to the people who write the code, and to everyone who helps keep it working beyond the first line. Happy Programmer’s Day! 💻

The best time to think about your next computer? While the current one is still doing its job. 💻 For business computers, a 3-year refresh cycle is a useful benchmark. That doesn’t mean every device needs replacing after three years – performance, hardware condition, warranty coverage, software compatibility and access to essential updates all matter. Knowing which devices are approaching replacement makes it much easier to plan both the budget and the rollout. No rush orders, surprise expenses or mornings spent staring at a computer that suddenly refuses to turn on. ⏳ Your computers probably won’t tell you when it’s time for an upgrade. Knowing when to make that call is where we come in.

Resolving IT issues quickly is important. But as your business grows, technology requires more than day-to-day support. It takes a clear plan for your IT infrastructure, an understanding of potential risks and technology decisions that support your business objectives. A strategic IT partnership helps align every decision with your long-term goals. ✔ A Virtual CIO (vCIO) works alongside business leaders to define IT strategy, assess risks and guide long-term technology planning. ✔ A Technical Account Manager (TAM) continuously reviews your IT environment, identifies potential issues before they become problems and recommends improvements to keep your technology reliable today – and ready for tomorrow. Strategic planning and ongoing IT oversight create a stronger foundation for sustainable business growth – helping technology support your business at every stage. If you're looking for an IT partner to help you make long-term technology decisions, let's talk.

There’s a reason “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” has become an IT support classic. It may sound almost too simple to work – but more often than you’d think, it does. A restart clears temporary data and gives system processes a fresh start, often resolving minor glitches along the way. In other words, there’s some solid logic behind the most famous trick in the IT support book. Of course, restarting isn’t a universal fix. If you’re reaching for the power button more often than your coffee cup, chances are there’s a bigger issue worth looking into. ☕️ Give the power button a chance. If the problem comes back for round two, it might be time to call in the professionals.
