The only real shock with PHP2Shell is that it dropped in the middle of the week instead of 4:55 PM on a Friday. 🤦 The situation is less amusing: pre-auth RCE, affects everything from PHP 5.4+, and zero official patches for anyone on PHP 8.1 or older. For teams running legacy workloads, breaking production with an emergency runtime overhaul isn’t an option. Neither is doing nothing. Seal's approach of backporting security fixes is the practical middle ground that keeps infrastructure intact and patched. 🦭 To learn how you can patch it quickly without going into endless upgrades, look no further: https://lnkd.in/dkKDy4mA

Why 60% of Open Source Vulnerabilities Remain Unpatched? Open source is the foundation of modern software, but it’s also the source of relentless risk. Each new dependency adds to the stack of components that need to be maintained, monitored, and patched. Most teams rely on SCA and prioritization tools to stay ahead. These tools are great at detecting issues but they don’t fix anything. False positives flood triage queues. Upgrade recommendations break apps. And every “high” vulnerability becomes another ticket competing with the product roadmap. Even with smart prioritization, remediation stalls. Why? Because fixing open-source vulnerabilities today still means: • Manual workflows • Dependency hell • Weeks of developer time • And high risk of breaking production But attackers don’t wait. All it takes is one unpatched CVE and you’re the next headline. Fixing the problem starts with flipping the script. You don’t just need to know what’s vulnerable. You need to fix it, fast, without upgrades, and without developer intervention. Seal Security bridges that gap. We deliver production-ready patches for both direct and transitive open-source dependencies, so your security team can remediate in minutes, not weeks, without breaking builds or pulling developers off product work. From detection to resolution, in 72 hours or less. That’s how you stay compliant, stay secure, and stay ahead of your customers. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dbeHqjzk

The details of CVE-2025-8869, including the exploit mechanism, are publicly available, but an official fix is not. This creates a critical gap, where attackers are aware of an exploit but AppSec teams are left without the tools to remediate the vulnerability. This is a classic example of where an 'always update' approach will fail, as maintainers have not released a fix yet. Amit Agam's latest blog explores how CVE-2025-8869 works, why these gaps are so dangerous, and where Seal Security can help. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/g4W_M9yJ #Python #OpenSource #DevSecOps

Formula 1 fan? Let's meet at the race in Austin on October 25. Open source vulnerabilities fan? Let's meet at FS-ISAC, booth 79. We'll be at the FS-ISAC Americas Fall Summit, October 26-29. Stop by and bring a package you'd want us to look at. Our pre-CVE program now runs on Mythos, and we fix what it finds in the version you already run, before there's a CVE. Alon Navon and Maya Shalom will be there too. Grab a slot → https://lnkd.in/eKzX44qR

Mythos is finding bugs faster than your team can upgrade. Skip the upgrade. Seal is part of Anthropic's Cyber Verification Program
