I’m wrong all the time. Don’t believe me? Just ask my daughter. But here’s the truth: being wrong is the secret to great marketing. Every one of us walks around with built-in biases. Experience, success, instincts — they’re helpful, but they can blind us to what really matters: the customer. My dad taught me this in the 1970s when he worked at Black & Decker. They asked him to design a new rechargeable drill. Made sense. B&D invented the power drill. But when he talked to customers, they kept saying: “I barely use the drill I already have.” Turns out, people only used their drill about three minutes a year. Meanwhile, they lugged around heavy vacuums almost daily. It would have been easy to ignore that insight. But they didn’t. They asked more questions. Watched how people lived. And what started as a cordless tool project evolved into something completely unexpected: a small, lightweight, rechargeable vacuum. The Dustbuster's full story, as recently shared by the USPTO, includes design experiments, failed prototypes (anyone remember the Mod 4?), even a little NASA tech. But the core lesson holds: Forget what you think. Ask your customer what they need. That’s where the best ideas come from. Love to learn. Love to win. https://lnkd.in/eY27zWU4

FACT: Most brands lose their Product Line Review before they ever walk into the room. We’ve sat in those rooms. We know exactly where it goes wrong. A brand shows up with a strong product line and spends the whole pitch talking about it. By slide three, the merchant has already moved on. The product isn’t the problem. It’s the story. Retailers aren’t just looking for something new to stock. They’re looking for a vision to grow the entire category. The brands that win PLRs aren’t just pitching. They show merchants a future they want to be part of. That’s the gap most brands never close. At Sales Factory, closing that gap is what we do. Our PLR services are built to turn your product line into a category growth story merchants can’t walk away from: ✅ Category insights that show retailers exactly what’s being left on the table ✅ Sell-in decks built around the merchant’s goals, not just your product line ✅ Proof points and storytelling that make the buying decision feel obvious Your next PLR win is closer than you think.
