If you’re a Marketer at a Manufacturing company, you probably need to translate many technical documents into multiple languages. These aren’t simple text docs. They’re complex, design-heavy documents, mostly in Adobe InDesign. Anyone who's ever worked with InDesign will relate to the struggles of 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒆𝒙𝒕, a text frame containing more text than it can display, usually the result of trying to translate from one language to another. It’s a real nightmare to keep the original layout and style of your InDesign file intact. I personally had many, many hours of pain with this problem, and was the core problem I set out to solve with Redokun. Here’s the solution to this problem… 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐤𝐮𝐧 → 𝐔𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞 → 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟎𝟎+ 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 → 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 → 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞 This happens in 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 (not hours, or days, or weeks). And the game-changer… the original design and layout stays intact. 🫡 Here is my absolute favourite customer comment from a Technical Writer at Carlisle Fluid Technologies 👇 “Upload your IDML, translate and download. The simplicity, the speed, the power. Redokun is like going from an old 1955 Chevy to a beautiful Ferrari. It’s a huge difference.” Being Italian, I appreciated the comparison of Redokun to a Ferrari! ❤️ My team and I are building Redokun to specifically help Marketers translate their documents quickly and easily. Redokun is especially ideal for Manufacturing teams who have large brochures, manuals and technical docs in design-heavy formats like InDesign. Marketer at a manufacturing company? We all know translating Adobe InDesign files manually sucks. Here’s the exact process I’d use to translate InDesign files into multiple languages without copy-pasting or having to rebuild the layout… Head to Redokun: 1/ Upload IDML file and let Redokun extract the text 2/ Choose 100+ languages to translate into 3/ Invite your translators, generate AI draft translations, and let everyone work together in one shared workspace 4/ Review and approve the translated file 5/ Export the finished IDML file, with design and layout intact This literally takes 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬. “But Stefano, these InDesign files will have loads of overset text, we’ll have to spend hours correcting all the formatting!”. No you won’t! ❌ We know InDesign formatting issues is one of the main challenges Marketers and Designers face when trying to translate InDesign files. Which is why we made sure your original IDML design and layout stays intact. That’s right… Every font, every style, and every layout… all still in place! 🤩 This is especially perfect for manufacturing marketing teams who have large brochures and manuals in design-heavy formats like InDesign. __ Want to finally translate InDesign files into multiple languages without copy-pasting or having to rebuild the layout? Marketer at Manufacturing company, let me ask you something… How many hours do you or your team spend manually re-translating sections of InDesign files that hadn't actually changed since the previous version? Your IDML file can be perfectly translated into multiple languages, but you find yourself having to translate the whole thing again if/when… → One product spec changes → Legal rewrites a disclaimer → The price changes → Someone adds a paragraph on page 41 😭 The file goes back out. All 60 pages, multiple languages. Your translators re-read work they already approved, and your designers rebuild the layout… AGAIN. To avoid this, your translation tool has to do two things: 1/ Remember the previous version 2/ Work out which sentences and words actually changed Redokun does both. You upload the revised IDML as a new version of the same document, and it compares them sentence by sentence. HOW IT WORKS: 1/ Unchanged sentences keep their approved translation, in every language. 2/ Your translators only get what is new or changed. 10 changed sentences in a 60-page catalogue means 10 sentences, not 60 pages. 3/ You export the updated InDesign file with fonts, styles and layout intact. No copy-pasting, no fixing overset text. Try it free with a 14-day trial at https://lnkd.in/evePwNp5 P.S. my tip is to start a trial, upload an entire IDML file, and see just how valuable this will be to your team (plus you get to export an entire translated IDML file!)

AI translates text well. But it doesn't know what an InDesign paragraph style is. And even worse… Copy-pasting the AI translated text back into your IDML file breaks your layout… Every damn time. 😭 Standard AI tools and LLMs are simply not built to help with translating 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 InDesign documents. Redokun actually uses these same AI engines to translate text: DeepL, Google Translate and ChatGPT… But the crucial difference is that Redokun also keeps your InDesign files in their ORIGINAL format… Every font, style and layout stays the same. It really is a true game-changer for those marketing teams at manufacturing companies who regularly produce design-heavy InDesign files into multiple languages, like brochures, guides and brochures. Redokun is now used by 300+ manufacturing companies across Europe. Want to be one of them? Get a Redokun 14-day free trial and translate a whole InDesign file here: https://lnkd.in/ejMxTx8s P.S. it also works for PowerPoint, Excel, Word and other formats, too.

Translating design-heavy, technical documents and InDesign files has been a pain for manufacturing marketers for years. DeepL and ChatGPT help... but they give you back text, not a document. Instead, you have to paste the text into the file yourself, and then rebuild the layout manually. Every time. For every language. So we built Redokun - to give manufacturing teams a solution that translates documents without you needing to copy-paste or rebuild the layout. HOW IT WORKS: 1/ Upload your file. Text is extracted automatically, layout intact. 2/ Choose 100+ languages 3/ Invite your translators, generate AI draft translations, and let everyone work together in one shared workspace. 4/ Export the finished file in exactly the same format, with design and layout intact. SUPPORTED FILE FORMATS: InDesign, Word, PPT, Excel, PDF, XLIFF, JSON, and more. WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT: 1/ Translate whole documents into 100+ languages with zero formatting issues. No pasting text back in. No rebuilding pages by hand. 2/ Translate 100+ languages at the same time instead of one after another. No email chains. No waiting for one translator to finish before the next can start. You see each language's progress in one place. 3/ Change one line, not the whole document. Upload a revised version and Redokun works out what changed. If you update a 60-page catalogue and 10 sentences changed, your translators see 10 sentences. Everything already approved stays where it is. This is the part most teams do not expect. Revision cycles are where translation budgets quietly go. 4/ Keep your wording consistent across projects. Translation memory reuses what you have already approved. A glossary holds your product names and technical terms in place, so the same part is not called 3 different things in 3 different manuals. WHY THIS IS SO VALUABLE: The translation itself is rarely the bottleneck. The bottleneck is everything around it. Pulling text out. Sending it off. Rebuilding the page when it comes back. Doing it again when one spec changes. Manufacturing marketing teams accept this because it looks like the cost of doing business in multiple languages. It is not. It is the cost of moving text between a document and a translator by hand. It’s time we solved this problem once and for all. Here are the 10 mistakes manufacturing marketing teams make when producing InDesign documents in multiple languages: (Based on my 20+ years of working with InDesign) 1/ Using the wrong tool. Emailing Word or Excel files back and forth and copy-pasting sentences in. Scripts and plugins are not much better. They break with each new InDesign version and have no translation memory. 2/ Breaking a sentence with a hard return. The translator receives two fragments instead of one sentence, and translates them as such. 3/ Threaded text with no slack. Treat your English copy as placeholder. When real content replaces it, the text should still land on the right page. 4/ No overflow space. English into German often runs 30% longer. Leave room or you will redesign every page. 5/ Tabs and spaces inside sentences. Use margins and tab stops properly, or the layout cannot survive a longer language. 6/ Lists built by hand. "1. This is a sentence" and "This is a sentence" are two different sentences to a translation tool. Build lists with Paragraph Styles instead. 7/ Text inside images. Every image with type in it has to be rebuilt manually, per language. Every rebuild is a chance to introduce an error. 8/ Outlined text. Once you convert to outlines, InDesign stops seeing text. It becomes art, and it silently never gets translated. 9/ Two or more languages on the same spread. It reads badly, and it makes the file impossible to run through any translation tool. 10/ Poor handoff. Send your vendor a PDF of the document alongside the file, so they can see the context they are translating into. Most of these cost nothing to avoid while you are still designing. All of them are expensive once the document exists in multiple languages. So we built Redokun - to give manufacturing teams a solution that translates InDesign documents without you needing to copy-paste or rebuild the layout.
