The Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) and Biosecurity Queensland are encouraging all businesses to know the potential impacts of biosecurity events, to review their biosecurity readiness, and to strengthen their biosecurity practices through the Biosecurity in the Boardroom campaign. The campaign is supported by industry peak bodies, including the Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC), to raise biosecurity risk awareness and management across sectors outside of agriculture. Effective biosecurity risk management is essential for the renewable energy sector, given its coexistence and frequent intersections with Queensland’s highly valuable agricultural landscape. QFF and Biosecurity Queensland, with the support of QREC, have developed a Renewable Energy Sector Profile outlining the key risks for the renewable energy sector, providing questions to ask of your organisation to create a culture of biosecurity risk awareness and management, and highlighting the work QREC is doing to support biosecurity risk mitigation within their membership and the broader Queensland renewable energy sector. This includes the release of the Renewable Energy Industry Biosecurity Guide, which QREC developed in collaboration with Biosecurity Queensland, key State-based agricultural peak bodies, and industry representatives. Visit the QFF website below to download a copy of the Renewable Energy Sector Profile.

The Queensland Farmers’ Federation and Biosecurity Queensland (Department of Primary Industries (Queensland)) have partnered to encourage Queensland businesses to better understand the potential impacts of biosecurity events across all sectors – not just agriculture.
