Your logs tell you something went wrong. They don’t always tell you where. For a bank serving millions of customers, that gap matters. Here’s how Banorte addressed it. With OpenObserve, Banorte expanded beyond logs into distributed tracing, helping engineers follow requests across services and investigate issues faster. The bank can manage growing telemetry volumes more efficiently while keeping its observability data within its own infrastructure. As Victor Guillen, IT Director at Grupo Financiero Banorte, explains: "As our digital ecosystem continues to evolve, we need technology capabilities that can scale with our operations while allowing us to use infrastructure more efficiently and maintain full control of our data. The evolution of our observability strategy gives us greater visibility across an increasingly interconnected environment and creates a scalable foundation to support Banorte's continued digital growth." 2+ PB of logs a month. One place to search them. Yupao Technology’s engineers used to switch between projects to troubleshoot across VPCs. After moving their high-volume logs to self-hosted OpenObserve, 100+ engineers now query logs in one place, with more control over retention, indexing, and costs. See how Yupao simplified troubleshooting across VPCs with OpenObserve: https://lnkd.in/g_UmkcnE/?utm_campaign=2026_ABX_Deals&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=paid&utm_id=1032101466&hsa_acc=514994411&hsa_cam=1032101466&hsa_grp=758102803&hsa_ad=1656595716&hsa_net=linkedin&hsa_ver=3 #Observability #telemetry #otel #devops #sre

Every company I’ve worked at had the same expensive habit. We kept everything. Every log. Every metric. Every record. Just in case. At one company, I watched our data bill go up 30% in a single month and nobody could explain it. So we asked a simple question: how much of this data did anyone actually look at? The answer was embarrassing. A tiny fraction. We weren’t paying for insight. We were paying for anxiety. I see the same thing in almost every company I talk to now. Bigger teams, bigger tools, bigger bills, and no more clarity than before. More data isn’t more visibility. Often it’s just more noise you pay for.

Most DevOps engineers dread setting up full observability stacks. It's usually days of config hell, broken pipelines, and half-working dashboards before you see a single useful metric. This morning, I got an email from a user that stopped me in my tracks: "I've been very impressed by how quickly I could set up a fully working observability stack for a Kubernetes cluster using OpenObserve and the openobserve-collector helm charts. I liked how simple and performant the ingestion and storage processes are." That's not marketing copy. That's a real user, unsolicited. We built OpenObserve specifically because the existing tools were either too complex, too expensive, or too slow. Hearing that it "just works" is exactly the validation we were building toward. If you're still fighting your observability setup, I'm happy to chat.

How do you catch a production failure you never thought to alert on? Alert on everything and you create noise. Alert on too little and you create blind spots. The challenge is making sure the signals you do have can still reveal failures you never predicted. The worst time to discover that gap is during the incident. In the latest edition of The Observer, we break down how teams can improve coverage without alerting on everything. Read it here and subscribe for future insights on observability, SRE, DevOps, and operating modern systems. #SRE #DevOps #Observability #RootCauseAnalysis #SiteReliabilityEngineering #IncidentManagement
