A recurrent stroke may present with similar symptoms to a first event or can be completely different. Helping patients recognise the warning signs of a stroke supports quicker action and improved outcomes. BE FAST is a simple way to help patients remember the key signs of stroke: • Balance: Sudden difficulty walking, dizziness or loss of balance and coordination • Eyes: Sudden problems with vision in one or both eyes • Face: Sudden numbness or drooping of the face, especially on one side • Arms: Sudden numbness or weakness of an arm or leg, especially on one side • Speech: Sudden confusion, difficulty speaking or understanding speech • Time: Call emergency services immediately Using an acronym such as BE FAST can help make stroke warning signs easier for patients to remember and recognise when it matters. 🎬 Our Whiteboard Animation gives patients a clear overview of the warning signs, and the steps they can take to support secondary prevention. #StrokeAwareness #StrokePrevention #StrokeRecovery #MendedHeartsEurope

AL amyloidosis is a rare and serious condition in which abnormal light-chain proteins called amyloids build up as deposits in organs and tissues. It most commonly affects the heart and kidneys, but can also involve other systems including the liver, digestive tract, skin, tongue and peripheral nerves. Around 70% of people with AL amyloidosis experience severe cardiac damage, making it particularly important to understand its symptom profile and recognise the condition early. Our AL Amyloidosis Whiteboard Animation explains how the condition develops and which symptoms may indicate the need for further investigation. #ALAmyloidosis #Amyloidosis #HeartHealth

This World Stroke Day, we are highlighting the importance of supporting patients as they navigate life after a stroke. Around one in five stroke survivors will experience another stroke within five years, and a recurrent event can lead to more severe disability than a first. However, secondary strokes are not inevitable. Helping patients understand what caused their stroke, recognise their individual risk factors, adhere to personalised treatment plan and make appropriate lifestyle changes is central to effective secondary prevention. 📘 Our Discussion Guide is designed to facilitate these conversations by helping patients ask informed questions that complement clinical discussions and support their ongoing recovery. #WorldStrokeDay #StrokeAwareness #StrokePrevention #StrokeRecovery #MendedHeartsEurope

Amyloidosis refers to a group of conditions in which abnormal proteins misfold and accumulate as amyloid deposits in the body. Over time, these deposits can affect the heart and other organs. Greater awareness of amyloidosis and its symptoms can help begin earlier investigation. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing information to support clinicians and patient-facing teams in recognising key signs and navigating patient conversations with confidence. We’ll be focusing on two types of amyloidosis: 1. AL Amyoidosis 2. Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) Both are serious conditions that can be challenging to identify, with many patients receiving a diagnosis only once symptoms have progressed. #Amyloidosis #ALAmyloidosis #ATTRCM #HeartHealth

Each year, over 1.8 million people in Europe experience a stroke. For many patients, recovery is only part of the journey. A previous stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA) significantly increases the risk of experiencing another. Supporting patients to understand this risk, and the steps they can take to reduce it, is an important part of secondary prevention. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing practical resources to support conversations about secondary stroke prevention, including: - Recognising the warning signs of another stroke - Understanding which risk factors can be managed - Taking an active role in treatment and prevention - Navigating life and recovery after stroke - Building confidence in engaging with their healthcare team Prevention is part of recovery, and ensuring patients feel informed is central to their long-term health and sustained secondary prevention. #StrokeAwareness #StrokePrevention #StrokeRecovery #MendedHeartsEurope

Over the last few weeks, we’ve explored key themes that shape conversations about cholesterol and cardiovascular risk: • What cholesterol is and why it matters • The role of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol • How a lipid profile blood test can help you understand your risk • Heartfelt stories of people living well after a cardiovascular diagnosis • Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) and inherited risk • Practical ways to manage high LDL cholesterol High LDL cholesterol is common, and many patients benefit from clear, accessible information that supports understanding and shared decision making. Our resources are designed to complement these discussions and help patients feel more confident in taking the next step. #ActOnLDL #CholesterolMatters #CardiovascularRisk #MendedHeartsEurope #PatientEducation
