“AI agent” means a lot of different things in freight tech right now. So we wrote down what one should do in logistics ops (and what it shouldn’t). A real agent owns the task from start to finish. A carrier emails that the driver’s running 2 hours late. The agent reads it, finds the load, checks the rules, updates the TMS and decides the next step. The same goes for a customer who revives a 6-week-old thread to move Friday’s delivery to Monday. Agents are good at that kind of messy, unstructured work. EDI keeps handling the predictable stuff. But an agent can only act on what it knows. If a carrier looked great on paper and caused 3 problems in 6 months, the agent needs that history. Otherwise it makes a perfectly logical call that your team already knows is wrong. It also doesn’t replace your TMS, your operating authority, your customer relationships or your team’s judgment. The math is worth a look too. At a 6% operating margin, cutting $1 of manual work adds about as much profit as $16 of new revenue. The full piece covers the 4 autonomy tiers and 5 questions to ask any agent vendor before you sign. https://lnkd.in/gFrBrk89/?utm_campaign=ToFu%257CAttendees&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=paid&utm_id=1195650026&hsa_acc=556514170&hsa_cam=1195650026&hsa_grp=873770186&hsa_ad=1665281796&hsa_net=linkedin&hsa_ver=3

We put “agentic” on our homepage when we launched in July. Since then, the word has been stretched to cover almost any freight software that has a workflow and a person checking the output. Gartner calls this agent washing. Its June 2025 count found about 130 vendors with real agentic capability, out of thousands making the claim. So we wrote down what we mean by agentic infrastructure for LSPs. The agent is the worker. The infrastructure is the building it works in: a live network of 280,000+ carriers, intelligence trained on 11 years of freight history, the integrations, the monitoring and the audit trail. Without that, an agent looks great in a demo. Then it trips over the first carrier that’s on time in one lane and late in the next. That stack already runs inside 9 of the world’s 10 largest logistics providers. The piece covers each layer. It also covers the 4 levels of authority you can give an agent, from Observe up to Act Autonomously. You set them by customer, lane, dollar threshold or risk. Our advice is to start conservative and widen it as the agent earns it. And your TMS stays the system of record the whole time. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gfgeeeMD

On July 14, project44 split into 2 businesses. project44 serves shippers. LSP44 serves the 3PLs, 4PLs, brokers and forwarders who move their freight. Since then, LSPs keep asking us the same few questions. Is LSP44 really a separate company? Does my data end up with shippers? What happens to my project44 integrations? And why split at all? Jett McCandless answered all 4 in a new post. The quick version: LSP44 has its own leadership, engineering, sales and roadmap. Your integrations and carrier connections stay where they are. Both businesses still run on the same carrier network underneath (280,000+ carriers, 706 million events a day). On data, we put our commitments in writing. LSP44 won’t operate as an NVOCC or indirect air carrier, won’t seek brokerage or motor carrier authority, won’t train models for other providers on your data and won’t resell it to shippers. As for why: shippers want an app they can log into. LSPs need agents and APIs they can build into their own TMS, under their own brand. Read Jett’s full post here: https://lnkd.in/gZkAA7QN

Most of project44's first 100 customers were logistics service providers. With LSP44, that story comes full circle. Our Founder and CEO Jett McCandless joined Joe Lynch on The Logistics of Logistics to explain why the two companies now run as focused businesses. project44 serves Global 2000 shippers. LSP44 serves the brokers, 3PLs and forwarders who move at a faster pace. LSP44 has its own forward-deployed engineers, sales and customer success teams, all on the same platform, backed by over $1 billion in investment and 282,000 carriers worldwide. They also cover why connectivity quality is the clearest measure of supply chain maturity, how AI agents fill the gaps APIs can't reach, and why this moment will separate LSPs into winners and losers. LSP44 has been named to FreightWaves' 2027 FreightTech100. The list recognizes 100 companies for innovation across freight and supply chain technology, selected from a record field of nominations in the award's 8th year. More than half the companies on the list are new since 2026. From Jett McCandless: "Being named to the FreightTech100 as a brand-new business says more about where the market is going than it does about us. LSP44 exists because logistics service providers were being sold the same generic platforms as everyone else. This recognition means the industry sees the difference." Next, a panel of more than 80 industry executives ranks the full 100 to select the FreightTech25, announced live at the F3 Awards Dinner on October 26 in Chattanooga. https://lnkd.in/ghRmCEdh

Same documents. Same volume. Same week of freight. One of those piles cost somebody four hours to reconcile and one of them did not, and the difference has nothing to do with how much paper there was. That is the part that never makes it into a software evaluation. Every tool in your stack works. Every document in that heap is legitimate. What you are paying for is the absence of anything holding them together, and that cost does not appear on a single invoice. It appears in your people. We built a calculator so you can put a number on it. Two minutes, your own inputs. Calculate yours: https://lnkd.in/g8zeXQpX
