We're pleased to see HR Daily featuring Life Street latest research alongside important insights from Suicide Prevention Australia and Allianz Australia on the role workplaces can play in supporting employee mental health. Our three-year analysis of 3,635 employees across 15 organisations revealed that among those with the lowest mental health scores, 53% identified relationship difficulties as their primary concern, compared with just 2% who identified work-related issues. As Life Street founder and psychologist Paul Flanagan explains, "What happens at home walks through the door on Monday morning." These findings reinforce why employee mental health support needs to consider the whole person, not just the challenges they experience at work. It's encouraging to see these conversations receiving greater attention, particularly the importance of recognising declining mental health and connecting people with support earlier. Thank you to HR Daily for bringing these perspectives together. Read the coverage here (free subscription required): https://lnkd.in/gHUZ4kY9

Most organisations have an EAP in place. But many employees either do not know it exists, do not feel confident using it, or only reach for it when things have already escalated. After more than 30 years designing and delivering EAPs, Life Street Founder Paul Flanagan has seen the model from every angle. In this article, Paul explains why traditional EAPs are often falling short — and why modern employee wellbeing support needs to be more visible, more proactive and more connected to the real needs of today’s workforce. Read Paul’s perspective on what needs to change.

Employee mental health is rarely shaped by one thing. Work matters. So do family pressures, relationships, grief, financial stress, personal history, confidence, sleep, anxiety and the way someone experiences their role. For organisations, this makes mental health support more complex than simply asking, “Is this a work issue or a personal issue?” In this article, Life Street shares what three years of cases reveal about the relationship between work, life and employee mental health. It is a useful read for anyone thinking about how to better support employees, managers and the HR teams who are often asked to hold the most complex situations. An EAP should do more than just sit in the background until someone reaches crisis point. They should be visible, accessible and practical. They should support employees early, help managers respond with confidence, and give HR a trusted partner when cases require specialist support. Read the article.

The traditional EAP model has not meaningfully changed in 25 years. Life Street’s Proactive EAP® was built to change that, with a program designed to be well utilised and effective, not simply in place to tick a box. In this article, Founder Paul Flanagan draws on more than 30 years of EAP, clinical and organisational psychology experience to explain why prevention, early intervention and stronger partnership with organisations matter. Read Paul’s perspective.

October is Mental Health Month and National Safe Work Month, providing two key opportunities to reflect on how we look after ourselves and the people around us. We often think about mental health in terms of whether someone is doing well or struggling, but for many people, the reality sits somewhere in between. They're showing up to work, managing responsibilities and getting through the day, even when life feels a little heavier than usual. Our recent analysis of 3,635 employees across 15 organisations reflects this, with 65% sitting in the middle of the mental health continuum. They're managing, but not necessarily thriving. The research also highlights something we believe is incredibly important at Life Street. Mental health is shaped by so much more than what happens at work. Our relationships, family responsibilities, personal challenges and everyday pressures all influence how we feel and function. As a psychologist-led EAP provider, we believe there's an opportunity to support people much earlier, recognising when things aren't quite right and helping before those challenges become more difficult to manage. We're pleased to share our latest findings and hope they encourage some thoughtful conversations about how we can better support the whole person. https://lnkd.in/gtEDUNZP

How many of us are managing each day without really thriving? October is Mental Health Month and National Safe Work Month, bringing important attention to how we can better support mental health, both in and outside the workplace. Life Street's analysis of 3,635 employees across 15 organisations found that 65% were sitting somewhere in the middle of the mental health continuum. They were managing day-to-day life, but often with reduced energy, motivation or focus. These findings highlight an opportunity to rethink how we support people, recognising the earlier signs of declining mental health rather than waiting until someone reaches a point of crisis. As a psychologist-led EAP provider, Life Street believes that meaningful support starts long before someone feels they can no longer cope. Explore our latest research and what it reveals about employee mental health.
