A considerable share of high-temperature waste heat in the steel industry remains unused. One key challenge is timing: waste heat is often generated intermittently, while industrial processes require a reliable and continuous heat supply. Thermal Energy Storage (TES) can decouple heat recovery from heat use. Our new whitepaper examines waste-heat potential from sources including flare gas, electric arc furnace off-gas and reheating furnaces. It also presents a project with Tata Steel focused on recovering waste heat from a sinter cooler. Download the whitepaper to learn how TES can: ◼ make fluctuating waste heat reliably available ◼ reduce the use of primary energy ◼ lower energy costs and emissions ◼ supply heat according to process demand rather than the time of generation This project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as part of the Renewable Energy Solutions Programme of the German Energy Solutions Initiative. #WasteHeat #SteelIndustry #ThermalEnergyStorage #IndustrialDecarbonisation #energy

Learn how Tata Steel uses waste heat with Thermal Energy Storage to increase efficiency. In this whitepaper diverse waste heat potentials are analysed and use cases for the Kraftblock storage discussed. Read about the potentials of TES for EAF off-gas, flaring, reheating furnaces, induration for applications like preheating scrap or feedstock, drying and process heat usage. Download the whitepaper and contact us for more info.
