In a fast-moving oncology trial, data that is eventually clean may still arrive too late to support the decision. Medical and operational decisions may need to be made within days. A traditional sequence of site entry, source data verification, and subsequent data management review can create a lag between what is happening in the trial and what the study team can confidently see. Modern data strategy must be designed around the decisions the study needs to make. At Kapadi, our clinical data management and risk-based quality experts treat data as a critical trial deliverable from the outset. This includes: • Identifying critical data and processes early • Designing focused and purposeful EDC systems • Targeting data review across functional areas • Harmonizing and consolidating information • Tracking patient journeys and protecting critical endpoints 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. Modern oncology trials are not simply becoming more complex. They are becoming more volatile. Protocol amendments, multiple vendors, activation delays, narrow molecular eligibility criteria, competing studies, biomarker attrition, supply chain dependencies, and long-term follow-up obligations can all affect delivery. The real challenge is that these pressures do not occur independently. They interact. A change in eligibility may affect recruitment. Recruitment uncertainty changes timelines and resource requirements. Supply constraints can disrupt treatment schedules. Long-term follow-up adds obligations that extend well beyond the initial study period. Historical assumptions and static forecasts are no longer enough. At Kapadi, we approach complexity as an interconnected system. Our teams combine medical, regulatory, operational, data, and site perspectives to identify dependencies, stress-test assumptions, monitor leading indicators, and adapt plans before emerging variance becomes a material delay. Oncology trials are not being strained by one operational problem. They are being strained by multiple pressures compounding at the same time. Phase III trials now generate an average of 3.6 million data points. More than 90% of oncology protocols undergo amendments. Biomarker-defined cohorts narrow the available patient pool, while testing delays can consume critical screening windows. Sites face redundant feasibility activities, workforce shortages, and growing regulatory and administrative demands. Each challenge may appear manageable in isolation. Together, they create a system under strain. At Kapadi, this is why we do not treat protocol design, feasibility, biomarker strategy, enrollment, data quality, site readiness, regulatory planning, and operational forecasting as disconnected workstreams. Our oncology experts connect these elements early, helping sponsors translate scientific ambition into trials that are executable for sites, accessible to patients, and capable of producing high-integrity, decision-ready data. The answer to increasing complexity is not simply more activity. It is better integration, earlier risk identification, and an operating model designed around how modern oncology trials actually work. 𝗗𝗿. A promising oncology trial can lose valuable time long before the first patient is enrolled. Complex eligibility criteria, inconsistent genomic testing, fragmented referral pathways and disconnected data systems can create operational gaps across sponsors, CROs and sites. The result is slower screening, unpredictable enrollment and avoidable pressure on study timelines. In our on-demand webinar, Kapadi experts Brandon Fletcher and Melanie Marshalll join other industry leaders to discuss why scientific innovation must be supported by an operating model capable of keeping pace. Watch the snippet below, then explore the full webinar for their insights into how stronger coordination, site readiness and data connectivity can support faster, more reliable oncology trial execution.
