Most fiber operators do not stay on their current platform because it is perfect. They stay because migration feels risky. IQGeo gives operators a controlled path from VETRO FiberMap to a modern network operations platform, with AI-assisted migration designed to reduce disruption and protect network data confidence from day one. Switch from VETRO without the migration headache Book your 30-minute discovery call

Smart metering is entering a new phase The UK and Ireland smart meter rollout is one of the largest field operations programmes undertaken by utilities. For years, success has traditionally been measured by one number: installations completed. But as programmes mature and deployment targets become more ambitious, I believe the conversation is beginning to shift. it is no longer just how many meters are being installed, but how many are being installed right the first time. While rollout targets remain critical, installation quality has become equally important. Every failed installation creates a ripple effect across the organisation, impacting: • Customers through delays and disruption • Field teams through repeat visits and rework • Operational budgets through avoidable costs • Compliance teams through additional quality assurance and audit activity What's interesting is that many installation issues aren't complex technical failures. They're often relatively simple problems that could be corrected at the point of installation if identified early enough. Yet quality assurance remains largely reactive. In many cases, issues are only discovered after the technician has left site, leading to revisits, scheduling inefficiencies and unnecessary operational overhead. The utilities that can successfully balance speed, quality and compliance will likely be the ones that realise the greatest long-term value from their smart meter programmes. As an industry, should we be placing more focus on installation quality as a key measure of success alongside installation volume? I'd be interested to hear how others across utilities, metering providers and field operations teams are thinking about this challenge. #SmartMetering #Utilities #FieldOperations #DigitalTransformation #UtilityOperations

I have been speaking with a lot of operators recently, and a common theme keeps coming up. Field teams are juggling a lot and day‑to‑day work is becoming harder to keep perfectly aligned. Crews deal with busy schedules, quality checks take a bit of a back seat because of this and it all adds a bit of strain across the operation. That is why this idea of getting things right the first time really hits home for me. When I speak with telecom and utility teams, the same patterns appear. Rework steals time, photos arrive too late to fix anything and small errors snowball into expensive problems. The teams that move ahead fastest are the ones who give their field crews clear, instant feedback. Not more paperwork. Just the right information at the right moment so they can finish the job with confidence. Tools like visual AI and simple structured data capture are making a big difference here because they remove the guesswork and help people get things sorted on the first visit. If you are seeing similar challenges, I would love to hear what right first time looks like for you and your teams. #FieldOperations #OperationalExcellence #TelecomIndustry #UtilitiesIndustry #RightFirstTime #DigitalTransformation #AI https://lnkd.in/eQEivxPB

When people talk about smart meter rollouts, the focus is often on technology. But the reality is that successful deployment programmes depend on much more than technology alone. They require the right combination of people, processes and data to deliver millions of installations safely, efficiently and consistently. This short podcast hosted by IQGeo's utility experts; Brandon Curkan and Adrian McNulty, discusses some of the realities utilities and contractors face as smart meter programmes continue to expand. The conversation breaks down how AI-driven quality assurance and quality control moves validation directly into the field, giving crews instant feedback while they are still on site. Something worth reading if you work in smart meter delivery. The industry has been talking about digitising field operations for years. But there is a gap between ambition and what actually happens at the point of installation. This IQGeo piece looks at how visual AI is changing the way quality is enforced during smart meter installs not after the job is done, but in real time, in the field. The numbers are compelling: programmes moving to this approach are achieving more than 98% right-first-time installs and reducing rework costs by hundreds of thousands of pounds annually. Worth a read for anyone thinking about how to raise the bar on installation quality and compliance. 👉 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/euneaFnj What is your current approach to QA in the field? Always interested in hearing how different teams tackle this. #SmartMeters #VisualAI #FieldOperations #QualityControl
