Training matters, but it's only one part of getting someone into work and helping them stay there. In a new article for the World Economic Forum, Anis SAIDI, our Country Lead Tunisia, looks at what FBR@WORK's first year in Tunisia is teaching us about the parts of the pathway that often get less attention: sourcing, placement & support once the job begins. What happens when philanthropy funds outcomes, not activities? How does that change the way funders work together, partners share risk and delivery teams adapt when plans meet reality? For Independent Philanthropy Association South Africa, our Chief Delivery Officer, Adriana Balducci, explores these questions through the experiences of partners behind South Africa's ECCE Outcomes Fund, led by the Department of Basic Education and EOF, as part of the wider #BanaPele early learning reform: https://lnkd.in/eDdz8uDN Tracey Webster Nomsa Muthaphuli Oppenheimer Memorial Trust Thandi Lekeba Tutuwa Community Foundation Ida Thyregod The LEGO Foundation Kone Gugushe FirstRand Foundations Sarah McGuigan Lebo Sello Ntataise Trust Masilo Johannes Ranoko SmartStart South Africa Megan Cockerill The Unlimited Child Bridges Outcomes Partnerships Genesis Analytics Early Learning Resource Unit (ELRU) Impande Mulalo Mlimi CCMP, PMP Louise Dessendier

Linked In: In Jendouba, one recruitment challenge ended up bringing an employer, local employment offices, regional authorities, a Governor and nine delegates into the same chain of action. Our latest story takes a closer look at what collaboration actually looks like when the goal is not just training, but getting people into work and helping them stay there: https://lnkd.in/exAAufT8 SECO Economic Cooperation and Development, Ambassade de Suisse en Tunisie, Bank of America, Education For Employment Tunisie, Education For Employment - Global (EFE-Global), Wimbee, IECD - Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement, IECD Tunisie, Association Patrimoine pour l'Economie Solidaire - APES, Groupe Etoile Formation, Amideast/Tunisia, Deloitte, Adriana Balducci, Anis SAIDI, Sabrine Laribi, Jasmine Wu, Wassila Saidi

Year 1 of FBR@WORK in Tunisia is complete! And there is a lot to unpack. The programme started with the familiar assumption that better skills should lead to better employment. But after a year of implementation, the picture looks a little more complicated. Training does matter. But so does reaching young people in the first place, connecting them with the right employers, and staying with them after the contract is signed, when the transition into work is still far from over. That’s where the shift to outcomes comes in. FBR@WORK pays for employment results, not activity alone, giving partners room to follow the evidence, adapt along the way and put more effort where it can make the biggest difference. Over the next few weeks, we’re opening up Year 1: the results and the partnerships behind them, the things that surprised us, what changed in practice, and the people at the heart of it all. First up: Anis SAIDI, EOF Country Lead for Tunisia, on why the path from skills to work needs a few more links.
