More than 50% of 25 billion invoices are paid late every year. Let's do some quick math on its impact: 25 billion invoices x 50% late = 12.5B late invoices / year. That's about 24,000 late invoices every minute 🤯 Each invoice requires chasing. Let's assume 20 minutes per invoice to get the right context, draft the response, and send an email or call the client with some basic logging. This puts the total time spent chasing invoices at 4.2 billion hours every year - the equivalent of watching EVERYTHING on Netflix 105,000 times. That's a lot of "are you still watching?" 🫠 This basic A/R work requires a team of people to chase and keep track - not to mention reconciliation, credit work, and bad debt. Continuing with our 4.2 billion hours and dividing by 2000 hours per FTE, we arrive at about 2.1m full time jobs needed JUST to collect payments. According to BLS data, about 700,000 people are employed as A/R clerks which may indicate a 1.4m person short fall on required work vs. what is staffed. This could help explain all those late invoices 🤔 What about the cost? Some quick math on the salary of A/R clerks, using the conservative 700,000 employee count, suggests businesses spend about $30B every year just to collect already issued invoices. That is $30B every year just to get paid on work that has already been completed. By comparison, only about $19B was spend in 2025 on AI applications according to a recent Menlo Ventures report 🤖 . At Daylit, Jerry Shu and I speak with CFOs every day and know they would much rather be allocating budget to AI tools vs. A/R cost centers. If you are dealing with this problem of slow paying invoices and a team of staff tasked to collect, visit daylit.com/intelligence to learn more about how we can help.

What if Net 30 actually meant Net 30, no matter what? We’ve been asking ourselves this question inside Daylit lately: "What if?" What if the friction in Accounts Receivable just vanished? What if you could feed an invoice into a machine and have cash come out the other side instantly? In the real world, we accept the lag. We accept the chase. We accept that DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) is just a number we have to live with. But the more Jerry Shu and I talk to CFOs and finance leaders, the more we realize that acceptance has become a massive problem. We are building Daylit to remove the gap between the invoice and the bank account. It isn’t magic. It’s a system that: 🔮 Predicts payment behavior before you even send the bill. ⚠️ Surfaces risk so you aren't blindsided. ⚙️ Turns a reactive "chasing" process into a strategic cash flow engine. The goal isn't just "better automation." The goal is finance team velocity. We’re on a mission to build a digital machine that turns invoices into cash and replaces the "What If" into "What Is." If you could wave a magic wand and fix one thing about your A/R cycle today, what would it be? #FinTech #CFO #ReceivablesIntelligence #Daylit #FounderJourney #AI #Agents

A late Friday afternoon phone call changed the course of Daylit. Twelve months ago, a mid-sized distributor called with a simple question about their loan account. Right before we hung up, they mentioned how "a big customer is eight weeks late. Again!" It was a throwaway comment, but we kept digging. 🚨 Turns out payroll was Monday. A vendor discount was now gone. They were listing all the ensuing issues while someone in the background was digging through an email thread trying to find a "promise to pay.... from last month, I think?" Despite the fire drill, the panic level wasn’t high. This was just normal course of business... “Yup, it happens every couple of months or so.” While the business wasn’t in immediate danger, they were clearly losing momentum... every 60 days. Worse, they had become numb to it. We began to imagine all the lost progress and resources diverted just to manage the collection of their A/R. If more than 50% of B2B invoices are paid late across the US, it would mean billions of dollars (and millions of hours) are wasted each year chasing them. Jerry Shu looked at me after the call: "I bet we can fix this." 📖 That moment became the start of Daylit’s next chapter… Receivables Intelligence (RI) our AI agent for accounts receivable platform. We didn't set out to: 🔷 build yet another dashboard. 🔷 an outsourced collection service. 🔷 stuff in AI for the sake of AI. Instead, we set course to deliver a solution - an AI-enabled platform that can predict A/R outcomes before they turn for the worse. A team of agents that flags at-risk accounts early, supercharges collections teams to streamline manual work, and embeds financing at the critical points of A/R workflows (like factoring and payment plans). Receivables Intelligence is like a smart, active, and 24/7 partner for finance teams rigorously trained to get you paid earlier. Most importantly, it's a platform that can cut A/R costs by 75% and realign time and budget towards value creation 🤯 If you've ever asked yourself: "When will we get paid?" or "What's going with that account?" and haven't been satisfied with the answers… this story is for you. 👇 Full post in comments Would love your thoughts - especially from anyone who's lived through the Friday-payroll anxiety game.

Communications-based tasks can now be dramatically streamlined with AI agents. Something to think about: Accounts receivable tasks eat up thousands of hours every month which span across the entire organization (think: when an account is late or in dispute, the sales team, finance team, and operations team get involved). It's time to completely reconsider cost structures. AI agents are live, in production, and can meaningfully change the math on scaling your team. Remember: as CFOs, we want to free our time, and our teams time, for strategy and planning and leave AS MUCH of the operations and administrative work to new technology. Daylit built a running list of AI tools built just for the CFO suite. Comment "Workbook" in the comments and we'll send it you. Reminder: these videos are shot to be 90 seconds and in one take. if there's more you'd like to see, comments are open 👇 #ai #agents #aiagents #daylit
