CDTi is taking action on one of the most urgent climate challenges: methane. Methane is a super pollutant that accounts for almost 45% of recent global warming. In transport and shipping, slip and leaks from LNG and other fuels put progress at risk. CDTi develops technologies that cut these emissions at the source to protect both climate and air quality. Rich-burn and lean-burn natural gas engines produce different exhaust conditions, and each requires an emissions control strategy for its operation. Rich and stoichiometric engines can use three-way catalysts to control NOx, carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrocarbons in one system. Lean-burn engines operate with excess oxygen, typically requiring oxidation catalysts for methane, CO, and other pollutants, with separate NOx control when needed. Factors such as exhaust temperature, oxygen levels, sulfur exposure, and engine duty cycle all influence catalyst performance, particularly when controlling methane emissions. CDTi develops catalyst technologies for both rich and lean natural gas applications, combining formulation, testing, and coating capabilities to address each engine’s operating requirements. Read our blog to compare rich and lean burn engines and learn what these differences mean for emission control: https://lnkd.in/ePGbH-hg #CDTi #NaturalGasEngines #EmissionsControl #CatalystTechnology
